If I flash 2.5, will I be able to play the guitar?
CTMod has been around for 4ish months and had 9 versions bro. If a app that I removed was required or important I added it back a long time ago.
All those apps you mention(and pretty much everything else I removed) are is just shit that either Samsung or Sprint added to the phone. None of them are a part of Android and none of them are required for the phone. It wouldn't surprise me if some of them like the keyboard ones were used by Carrier IQ when it was on the phone.
The difference between adding apps manually and getting them from the market is the market apps are the newest version, the stock ones are old
...and i have Never had a problem with something not working or forceclosing...Tether works fine without that dunapk..I have been running CT for about a week and havent had any problems with it eather, blue tooth works, phone works, texting works, wifi tether works, the only question i have is, why does CTMod need a 3G data on off switch? On stock its always on (i think) i have never seen a way to turn it off so whats the point in it?
you can turn data off in Settings>Wireless & network settings>Mobile networks
some people like a shortcut to turning it off, so theres a widget =p

if for some reason you get charged for data usage, it gives you a convenient way to block usage to keep costs down.
But arguably, $55 a month for unlimited everything + $5 discount every 6 months till you hit $40/month is pretty cheap

That is the way I read it as well, however some have reported upgrading to a new android gives you the new $5 extra pricing.Or if you been on an unlimited and went down to $45 before their pricing changes in November '11 then you can still go down to $35 unlimited.
I don't know for sure but I am hoping that if I change phones as long as I don't change plans that I will be able to stay at the $35 unlimited I don't think they would make me pay the extra $5 android unlimited now costs....
I started at $50 and I got my droid at $40 before any mention of the $55 planIf you started out at the $50 plan it will stay that way as long as you started before the $55 change over. I confirmed it with them more than once.
. I'm currently at $35 per month.
I have a question about CTMod. I have a friend I am going to get a prevail for and root and then put wifi tether on it for him. And then I am leaving state. He is not to computer smart and I want to set up the phone so he does not update and loose his wifi tether. If I put CTMod on the prevail I get for him will it update at all on its own and make him loose the wifi tether?
Now earlier I saw a post maybe stating that if you were to put back some/any/all of the removed-apps, then it would be like actually putting CIQ back on the phone, because some of those apps had it in it. Is this right? or wrong? Final answer anyone?
. Seriously though it's his mod so yes. The stuff he changed behind the scenes(kernel, apks, etc) are why CIQ is not in his ROM in the first place. Some of the stuff removed are bloatware which literally just wastes precious space on our already limited memory for the Prevail. Thankfully various ROMs support A2SD, L2SD, and S2E coupled with a fast SD card to get around that hurdle. Now earlier I saw a post maybe stating that if you were to put back some/any/all of the removed-apps, then it would be like actually putting CIQ back on the phone, because some of those apps had it in it. nothing you or anyone else installs or adds to CTMod will put CIQ back on the phone
if a app uses CIQ all its going to do is force close when you open it since its trying to access something that isn't there

Not totally true my daughter started out on the $50 in June '11 and since her first shrinkage would've been in December she missed the cutoff of the changeover to the $55 plans. They kept her at $50 and told her that they counted the first shrinkage like she was on the $55 plan and thus she stayed at $50 and her next shrink would be $45 and she can only go down to $40.
Sort of sucks to think that they wouldn't let here get down to $35 because she missed the cutoff by 1 day.
Also, they will try to bump people up that were in before the cutoff up if you end up having to replace a phone. I'm pretty sure if you argue with them enough, and you're just replacing a bad phone with the same you can get them to keep you on the same plan.
On one hand, it seems like $5 a month isn't that much of a difference.
On the other, $5 a month adds up pretty quick. an extra $60/year because of what day you signed up on
I've been with boost since 05 and I never even heard of them upping the price to $55. When did this happen?
If I flash 2.5, will I be able to play the guitar?
