Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

you are using the new app zip aren't you?

every app in it has been tested and works

I believe so, I re-downloaded it last night from the first page of this thread assuming that it's the most recent one right now?

And sorry, I think my other question got overlooked about haptic feedback, any idea about that too?

Thanks again :p

I have missed the comments about problems with the new market, in my case I have no problems with Play Store.

And silly of me by posting this, but in case anyone notice the Play Store now have all your apps on the right side (slide to the left) not at the bottom like the market.
Mine also is also showing all the apps that I have downloaded since I got my phone.

When I installed the ROM the first time and went in to MY APPS , it was empty . I tried everything from wiping the data , re-installing the app to re-installing the entire ROM . I flashed the apps from my CWM sd-ext backup and the market picked those up the next time that I signed it but it didn't read that they had been purchased like it should . It also did not show the apps that were bought but not installed yet . It was screwed up man . The installer that i posted solved my problem . Hopefully it will help someone else too . :)

can't really tell what I did wrong or wright when I installed the 3.3,
but man... I've dodged that bullet for sure... phew!!!

I'm guessing that you have helped alot of people with this fix. :)

Im currently running honeybread. I was wanting to try out ctmod and was woundering if its safe to flash it over honeybread? Or do i have to oden back to stock and reroot and then flash ctmod?

as long as your on baseband EJ06 or FA19 and have CWM you can flash CTMod.

the installation will wipe any settings, user data and the sd-ext partition if you have one so make sure you do a backup in CWM first in case you need to go back to your old rom.

if you want to transfer your call log and texts from your current rom to the new one you can use this http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/512092-sms-backup.html or one of the other apps like it on the market.

I know of two others that had this happen . It's really not a biggie though since installing an older version of the market will fix it . It's not a one time thing with me either . It's done it twice , even after doing a fresh install with Odin .
I wonder if me running the EJ06 modem has anything to do with it . I wouldn't think so but it might .

blood i noticed u said all the tweaks that made a diff are in your rom should i be putting the 66 citbun tweak in.

also if i just install this over 3.2 will it work?

you can install 3.2 over anything but it will wipe your stuff.

if you want to add citbun or something go ahead, its up to you guys.

I dunno then. like i said, I tested all the apps in the new zip on 3.3 and they all worked so I'm not sure why swype isn't showing up for you in input methods.

haptic feedback is working, its just different then in boost roms. if you long press your buttons you can see it still vibrates.

To get Swype to work (after using the apk installer, and seeing it in the apps list), I enabled "Show settings key" in Settings -> Language & Keyboard Settings -> Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard settings, then I was able to select Swype from the the newly enabled settings key in the Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard. However, I just tried it by holding down in the text box without the setting button, and the input method selector popped up, so if it is not there, I don't know if the longer method will work.

humm, don't think so coz I'm on EJ06 my self...

what? the home button doesn't work?

try rebooting, if that doesn't work try reflashing the rom

that only happens if you do something other than just flashing the mod

You probably did something like tried to "restore" something in some thing like Titanium, or tried to "restore" /data from a nandroid backup.

just save your apks, write down your passwords. flash the rom, turn on unknown sources, reinstall your apps, if you can't remember a setting, it probably didn't matter that much :D

Blood, Kouma,

Wanted to thank both of you for your efforts.

I flashed CTMod 3.3 and probably had a bad zip because the installation tanked about halfway in. ODIN'ed using Kouma's FA19 image and restored the phone. Re-copied the CTMod 3.3 zip and flashed successfully.

I remembered something Kouma said in an earlier post about modifying the koumamod file to move all of /data to the SD card. Grabbed RE, modified the file to enable data mode and rebooted.

Imagine my shock when I checked storage and saw I had 2 GB of internal memory on my phone (I had previously been using link2sd with a 2 GB ext4 partition but my internal mem still kept dropping). I have a class 10 SD card and don't notice any lag when running apps from the card either.

Both of you (and many other devs I have yet to thank) are the reason why the little Prevail is still in my pocket. You've essentially given me (and others) a new phone. My Android experience would only be half as bright without your coding skills. I salute you.

Well put man. Well put.

Just want to thank you Blood for adding MIUI File Explorer to the ROM. It's a great free file explorer(w built in root explorer) and I was wondering if someone was going to add it to their ROM. I've been using it/testing since a new port of it was put on XDA recently. Appreciate you adding it to CTMod.

I'm a little confused. How can you have 2GB of internal memory? My prevail has very little internal memory. Are you sure your not referring to your external SD memory?

According to titanium backup and the prevail specs: Internal Storage Memory is 500MB.

Unless you extended it to the SD card, I can't see how it's possible.

I wanted to thank everyone who contributed to making my phone kick ass individually, but it was a huge post, so let me minimize by saying- Thank you devs and 'helpful' forum contributors. This is the best place I have found to learn about my phone, and how to fix what i've broken.

I have searched and have not been able to find what I am looking for now though. This is what I did: odin'ed the fa16 image (with cwm and root) but used the ej06 phone.tar (did this because it was recommended somewhere in this thread for a different issue I had when I installed 3.2), I then used CWM to install CTrom 3.3, and the apkinstaller.zip to put back stock keyboard (hate the icecream sandwich one) and the original (no beta) swype, as well as gmail, and telnav (sorry I actually use those). It was successful. I then installed golauncher and and removed the duplicate program types, rebooted and realized I didn't make go the default launcher and wanted to cry because I had to do it all again, so I did, made go the default and rebooted, all was well, I uninstalled zeam and rebooted, still was good so I went to bed. When I woke I tried to check the weather, and had no launcher, again . I re-odin'ed, reflashed CTmod, and have left it alone, all bare-bones and ugly.

So my question is, what do I need to do to keep golauncher up and running? I do not understand what happened to it, why it stopped. I was quite happy to just have swype back so I guess the launcher really isn't a big deal, but I am not confident I can make a theme like what I want on my own, and my phone is so close to finally being perfect for me...

Thank you to anyone who can help, it is greatly appreciated (and I posted here because I am running CTMod- not because it is the issue, just want to be clear on that).

And on a side note, for the text editing for kouma kernel's data, is there an easy, free editor to change that in? I don't know much about that and the only things I found are paid apps. (i'm only referring to turning on the data to sd-ext, not re-coding or anything intensive)
