I'm on Beta 2. Gapps didn't install, I tried to add account and it gets to the second screen after retrieving account info and says unable to connect to server. Also, Camera 1/2 works. i shows image and will take a picture but freeze. I'll try to reflash... then a few other things.

Edit: I mounted system and intalling gapps

does anyone else just get two signal bars?

Before I reverted back to A5, thats about what I had, and it was white. One guy says to reboot several times and it will work, another says it just took a while for him. If it takes that long every time you boot, I will wait for Req0 to fix it :P

I am having all sorts of problems with gapps. my contacts wouldnt sync for aout a couple hours, my google play market is just the market & i cant even download anything from the market error (921)

Help!!!!

Followed Directions to the letter. on mounting /system generated an error. thought this was normal so installed gapps and then rebooted. Stuck on ANDROID screen. What did I do wrong and How do I fix this?

Just tried beta2 and having some problems.. google apps didn't install properly, usual roaming mode started, camera wouldn't exit right, going back to more stable alpha5, until...also getting the same messages bloodin' was getting in CWM about cachelog msgs.. don't think that's a real issue though... also, was the seperate carrier zips also updated for beta 1 and beta 2 or can I use the same ntelos patch? I am willing to give beta2 another shot or 3 or whatever until things get right.. but backup up to alpha5 for the moment to keep phone working ok incase she gets an important msg from Ed McMahon or something! :D

By the way, alpha5 on her phone is the best ROM in my opinion this Admire has had on it! ;) So, just letting you know req0, you are doing fine.. enjoy yourself and don't rush things.. because you can't rush perfection... by the way.. I heard talk of adreno for the kernel to help cpu/gpu boosts, do you think that will also be in the works for this arm?

installed Beta2 ... everything is working fine .. im able to do download apps from market .. still have the like roaming bug but no biggie tho

Edit: MMS still not working

Adreno is already supported.

Funny that you guys are having all these issues, most of the people in IRC seem to be running it just fine.

Also just wanted to put this out there... after installing any ROM, syncing into google account, etc. it is always good practice to let the phone run for about 5-10 minutes depending on network availability.. that way things can get situated with updating store, contacts, email, data, etc. then start thrashing it around in different parts to see if stuff works ok.. because your phone is a busy little bee for about 10 minutes on initial startup... think about it.. it's a little pc! ;)

Req0, what is different between us on here and the people on IRC? Also, if I have A5 installed and running fine, is it best to flash B2 over top or format the crap out of my phone before flashing?

EDIT: So, I just formatted the crap out of everything, at least three times each, and flashed everything like the guide says, and after I booted up, I toggled airplane mode and let it sit for a couple minutes and I'll be damned if I didn't get logged into Google and get things set up in a matter of minutes. WTF!? :D

Always best to format /system /data /sd ext /cache etc.

I am thinking that once this is nailed down req0 will add a script to automatically do this when running the more official release...

Just something I have seen alot of devs do when there is a more stable/official version of their releases. :)

I wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvic cache, wiped battery stats, formatted /system, /data, and /cache each three times and then installed everything according to the guide. Once booted I toggled airplane mode and let it sit. After that everything is fine, FINALLY! :D

EDIT: Well, except for it saying Metro PCS as my network, lol

The installer script formats /system, /data, and /cache. Nothing else really needs to be formatted. I'm editing the gapps package right now to streamline the process even more. I might just include gapps natively to keep all this bullshit from happening. Frustrates the hell out of me when it seems to work for with no problems for 90% of the users I regularly talk to on IRC, but it seems like 90% of the people on the forums have problems.

Yeah, but that's a huge pain in the ass to fix for every carrier (involves editing framework-res.apk), I'll worry about cosmetic things like that when we can nail down the existing issues.

I agree, nothing should have to be, but I have tried this whole process at least 4 times today and always had issues, and now out of nowhere I get it installed no problem. Actually, scratch that, I probably always had it installed right, but I never let it sit long enough after booting to get the data connection, lol. Oh well, keep doing your thing, I'm sure your rom is fine and something else is causing these issues, like maybe ghost files from old roms or the old CWM, I don't know. Alls I know is I'm happy the camera works, everything from here on is all perks :D

Alpha5 or Beta2? If beta2 how is your camera working?

Yea that sounds like a good idea.. if someone wants to remove some gapps they can always do it themselves, in my opinion. About the name saying metropcs, sprint, boost, nextel, comcast, or whatever.. that's not a big deal to me.. who freaking cares if it says "you're gay!" if it works it works.. :D

Well.. don't get any funny ideas about editing the framework-res.apk to say that! :P

I guess technically we could change it ourselves right? using multi-apk tool correct? change it with an editor and repack/resign with the tool? or is it more complicated.. nevermind.. it is really the least of my worries.. I just want her phone to run good.. and technically it never has ran better since I tried alpha5.. I may backup her current setup now and retry beta2 once more.. unless there's a chance of another beta release today/tonight?
