Root [ROM][CWM][KERNEL] CM7.2-RC1-requisite0 BETA2

Can I edit and change this on CM7 without having to reflash? I just got things set up right and would rather not have to set it all back up again, but I want to change the "MetroPCS" to "nTelos"

just take out the framework-res from your rom and decompile it, make the changes and compile it right and put it back in place

Can I do that without having to reflash the rom? And if so, how do I pull the framework-res out to decompile and all that?

Edit: Ok, I just learned how to de/recompile .apk's and I'm guessing after editing the file I will need to reflash the rom. If I back up my /data, can I do an advanced restore and get all my stuff back or would I have to set up everything from scratch again?

send me framework-res.apk and I can make a flashable zip so you don't gotta start from scratch :)

Don't have to re-flash just copy the framework-res.apk to your sd-card and transfer it to your computer.. then make a back up of the apk... and as qandres12 said decompile and make the changes then recompile and copy back the modified framework-res.apk to your SD card and use root explorer to replace the original framework-res.apk and ... it will reboot automatically.. if you did it right you should see your changes ... lol if you messed up at least you have the back up framework-res.apk to fall back on ;)

remember to delete the resource.rsc when decompiling since its an xml edit, also change the permission to match those of the framework by first moving it into a folder where it wont reboot the phone, Root folder or System folder, change permissions, and then move it to the framework folders within the system folder

I found a guide in the Esteem forums that seems pretty straightforward, but when I am in the command prompt and open the folder that the framework-res is located and try to do the next step, which is to install the framework, I type "apktool if framework-res.apk" and it says that java is not recognized as an internal or external command. O.o

dont use apktool, do find apk multi tool it makes it much easier, i used to use the apktool and it sucks lol you have to have it all set up right

Now my problem is that when I run "script" it tells me I have no Java so I won't be able to sign apk's, but I already have Java. This is becoming more time consuming than I expected. lol

Its because windows can't find Java. You gotta edit something that shows windows where it is to make it work. I forgot what to edit but I do remember I used google and found a guide... I'll try and find it...

Thats what there called! Environment Tables! You gotta add the path where Java is at the table called PATH.

So, I noticed that on the website it says I need Android SDK and Java 1.6 or something but never says in the instructions that I need to use Android SDK for anything, and I went to the Java website and reinstalled Java and its still telling me I don't have it. The last APK tool I tried using said that I needed Java SDK, maybe thats the one I need? I don't know. I'm working at the moment but later tonight I will try effing with it again.

Anyone else have any ideas on how I can get this going? O.o

All 32bit programs work on 64bit, just not the other way around. It's backwards compatible. You're probably running quite a bit of 32bit processes already.

I cant seem to get to any of the links. Please repost the OC ROM and the cricket specs. Thanks.

this thing is already OC'ed, the package those that, so step 6 in unnecessary. as for the apn configs for other carriers you have to actually find a member here that has then and knows how to implemented into the phone. this isnt the OP's work, he is simply reposting stuff that wasnt deleted awhile back as such doesnt have access to those apn

So, is there any ICS themes for this rom? I thought there was but when I try to search for "ICS" it tells me that the term is omitted because its too short.
