To better answer the question, no you do not need to update it. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

As for the volume rocker to skip tracks, I'm looking into it. It's my #1 priority right now besides some kernel updates and data dropout issue (which I think I fixed in the stable build).

Honestly, the N5 is lightning fast with the Snapdragon 800. At this point, you couldn't really tell the difference between 1.5GHz and 2.25GHz.

My settings
  • CPU Clock: 300-1728
  • GPU Clock: 450
  • Governor: Interactive
  • UV: -75mV (YMMV)
  • Governor Control: hispeed_freq = 1728000, input_boost_freq = 1036000, sync_freq = 729000
  • IO Scheduler: CFQ
  • TCP Congestion: Westwood

Are these settings still the G-O?

I'm on franco 46 now, always searching for that little extra juice, ya dig?

Just all of a sudden I'm getting a message about my MMS that reads "Check your APN settings and try again" not sure what this means or where to go to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry at work and don't have time to read other posts. Thanks again!

Edit: Had some time to mess around with it after reading an earlier post, seems to be working fine now. Thanks!

Hey guys... I was just Wondering if anyone has tried using the Optimized Dalvik Z2 patches with DU? And if so have you noticed any difference?

I pretty sure DU already has modified/opitimed davlic.
I think I might try it anyways, but I think I'm might get suck in a bootloop.. I report back my findings.

I assume you are right, DU already has those, since the changelog says:
--Added bionic, dalvik, and system optimizations

I'm getting a lot of app crashes, really normal apps too; Facebook, chrome, Gmail etc. I used twrp to factory reset a few days ago so I thought I had a clean flash but maybe there's something else I need to do? Can anyone make some suggestions? Thanks.

Well a clean flash involves wiping /system which a factory reset doesn't do. Wipe all partitions except internal storage (system, data, cache, dalvik) and then flash the rom again.

Like this?

That's what I did, I didn't reflash the rom though because after the factory reset the phone booted straight into DU.

So I should try it again but then flash the rom again?

In twrp go to: wipe>advanced
Then check system, data cache dalvik

Leave internal storage unchecked.

After the wipe go to the install menu and then flash the rom again.

Oh! Ok, I done goofed. I did the factory reset from within the the TWRP app NOT the actual recovery! I'm a dunce. I will do it properly when I have a spare couple hours and report back :)

Thanks for the help :)

Yeah we were right Hook... The Z2 dalvik patches didn't play nice at all with DU.... I did end up in a bootloop! On the other hand I did however finally flash Franco kernel and will test it for the next week.

Ok, clean flashed and everything seems to be running pretty Micky mouse with one exception, I can't update my camera to the new Google camera, which is weird because I had it before I did the clean flash but now when I try to install it I get this message:

I'm using PA Stock Gapps and multi dpi app store.

Delete the apk from system folder and clear dalvik. HDR+ doesn't work by the way ( didn't mean to hit thanks).

In our build script, it wipes /system on flash.

That's what I thought. I actually read the output of the script as it appears on the screen. ;)

I've had no problem with the Camera app from Google Play. It just adds another camera (isn't the one in DU the AOSP camera and not Google Camera anyway). I'm using the TBO Gapps, if that makes a difference.

HDR+ doesn't work?

Also, I can't delete the apk, it says it can't be deleted?

File explorer. Navigate to system then app or priv-app and find the camera apk, then literally delete it. I use SD maid to get rid of the leftover folders. jinshu camera 1.5 FC on hdr and so does Google camera.

Yes, but that all depends on what gapps package you install. I use PA Micro, which installs the Google Camera.
