Root [ROM] Eris Lightning 1.0

OK it is all because of you that I can say I really like my Eris. I was about a week away from buying a new INC. just to see if I liked it. But this is how the phone should have been released. Perfect job.

And just a FYI I don't know if you can but when you pull down the notification bar at the top it says "Verizon Wireless"... You should replace that with "powered by Lightning" or something like that. (if it is possible)

I love this rom. Im a sense fiend :-) I too would like a transparent lockscreen. Vanilla with no text? or transparent arc :-) I know there are writups on it although from what ive read they only work on roms with lockscreenodex which in my browsing i have not found. Conap if u are willing to give me some pointers im willing to learn. Im coming from a TP2 to a G1 to an Eris so im loving the available ram difference from the G1. Keep it up man. Your future releases will be first on my list...
 
I tried out the new senselesss lightening and soon as I activated SetCpu it immediatly set to 860 and crashed the phone 3 times in a row before I can set it to 768. Any solutions?
 
New to this forum. Thanks for having me. Is anyone in the LA area that has done this to their phone? I need some help with this. :confused:

You can get the vanilla lockscreen by deleting the HtcLockScreen.apk and HtcLockScreen.odex. It has the clock and date on it still though. at the command prompt type:

adb shell
cd system/app
rm HtcLockScreen.apk
rm HtcLockScreen.odex
reboot

Your phone will then reboot with the vanilla lockscreen. Not sure if thats what your looking for. If you wanted the the arc with sliding down to unlock instead of side to side you would need to edit the default wallpaper and make it a blank transparent image. and edit some other png's to get the arc back. None of this will remove the writing. Also If you remove the htclockscreen then the alarm buttons on the lockscreen won't work and you won't be able to turn off your alarm if you use one. I would suggest using a third party alarm app if you plan to switch lockscreens.

I was able to adjust it down super quickly before the phone would freeze up but since each phone reacts differently to overclocking that might not be an option for you. There were some kernels update zips that zanfur released that you could flash over this that only allow the phone to OC to 768. Just do a nand backup first. I am not near my home pc to find one and upload for you now but if you search over at xda forums you might find them. If not I will try to put up a fix for it sometime soon when I get time.

yea if I remove the arc lockscreen I have an infinate alarm LOL. no go for me and for some reason adb remount unsyncs my phone ? no I sold the Rex years ago man. the name just stuck
 
Thanks Conap, I successfuly deleted the background and pushed a clockless hero lockscreen.apk. Now I need to know where the .png is located that you replaced the arc with. You know the red square with the whit border? I want to replace it with some transparent .pngs. Usually it is located in com.htc.resources.apk but i guess that was replaced while cooking as I can not seem to find it. Location please?!?! Thank you for this phenominal rom.:cool:
 
I found it but now when i edit the 3 arc .pngs to transparent 1x1 .pngs and rename it back to an apk it doubles the size of com.htc.resources.apk thus making it to large and throwing an error saying not enough disk space. Any ideas?

If your phone keeps crashing, I would go in recovery mode and connect phone to your pc with the USB-MS selected on recovery screen.

If you have a setcpu.txt file in the root of your sd card remove it.

This probably isn't the problem because how did it configure that high or it was on the rom when you flashed it


This is just a thought..

You are looking in the right place already. It should be in the com.htc.rescources.apk.
 
Yea man I found it my bad:-) does it have to be resigned to push it back? It either defaults back or wont push back saying not enough disk space...

once you edit the png you need to drag and drop it back into a copy of the rom and then sign the rom and reflash it.
 
thanks conap. I'm having the worst time trying to install all this stuff on a netbook with windows 7 starter (POS)... ADB then now java and runtime environment, nothing ever works out. Took me 6 hrs to get AndroidSDK working ... LoL Any chance i could just send you the edited com.htc.resource.apk and you could resign it for me? or just the 3 .pngs? Ive been working at this lockscreen for a week now. If i can just get rid of the arc i'm good and wont be flashing another rom till i get a new phone... 6months... (the usual :-)) I could send you the screenshot of the final product... I think thats a DARE! lol Sorry just worked all night. Anyways let me know man. Thanks YOU ROCK!!!

I just switched my laptop to linux so i've been installing all that stuff again myself lol...plenty of headaches. But you shouldn't need any of those to edit your lock screen. Just take the original rom drop the edited png's in there and resign it and install. You shouldn't need to wipe if all you change is the png's. There are some autosigning scripts you can download that are really easy to use...[SCRIPT] Auto Signer for update.zip - xda-developers check that one out...second post is for windows. Download it and uzip it, then just drag and drop the rom you changed into the folder you just downloaded. rename the rom to update.zip and double click the sign.bat file and it will create a file something like signed-update.zip. Then just rename the signed-update.zip back to whatever you want it to be called and flash like any other rom.

Yes you are getting an error with the update script that installs the rom. This shouldn't happen unless you changed some files other then png's in the rom or the file got corrupted in the process of copying it around the computer. I would start with a new copy of the original rom and copy your new png's into it and the resign. You can pull the edited png's out of the rom that won't install if you didn't save a copy on your desktop.
 
so open the zipped rom with winrar navigate to com.htc.resources.apk copy to desktop rename to .zip open with winrar replace .pngs close winrar rename to apk drag and drop to framework folder in previously opened rom.zip close winrar rename update.zip run bat.sign flash no wipe?
