Root [ROM] Eris Lightning 1.0

Can you edit the lockscreen security page and make the dots red instead of blue? Or explain it to me and I'll do it? :)

Ok I made some updates that will fix the blue dots to red....see original post at the bottom. Thanks for pointing this out as I had missed it.

Thanks so much. Looks awesome! Two questions:
1. How do I get the apk from the phone and then extract the png to edit? Can I use Astro to do this?
2. How do I get that red boot screen loader? I paid the dollar for the app, but I'd like to have the red icon.

1. yes use astro then open the file with winzip or similar program but don't unzip it. then go through the folders to find the icons you want to change. most if not all the png are in the res/drawable or res/drawable-mdpi or similar folders. when you find the png you want to edit drag it out of the apk on to your desktop. then edit with whatever program you like and drag and drop the png image back into the same folder you got it from. then of course resign and reinstall. If you have trouble finding it you can extract the whole apk so you can see the png's without haveing to click everyone of them just make sure you drop the edited png back into the original apk and not the unzipped one.

2. I edited the icon for that app as per my previous instructions. Forgot I had it on the screen when i took the screenshot. I did not put it in the rom because as you know it is a paid app.

Thanks for the help. Sorry to sound like a noob, but where do I find the apks in astro and how do I copy them to my computer?

there are a couple of ways to do it. one way is to open up your android sdk folder and then the tools folder and run ddms.bat and from there click on take screenshot. also, if you have a rooted device, there are applications that will take a screenshot when you shake the phone or clap your hands or other various cues.

you can delete the zip file from your sd. It is not needed after you install it. I would recomend keeping a copy on your desktop in case you ever need to reflash it for any reason. As far as saving apps to your sd card do you mean backing them up or installing them to the sd card? as of now you can't install apps to the sd card in any roms i've seen for the eris. If you just want to back them up you can use Astro file manager from the market to make backups of the apps. There are other programs as well to backup your apps but that is the one I generally use.

Edit: No Longer needed...added to latest version.

Small update to the dialer keys....they were just too bright when on the phone. Will be included in next release but if you don't want to wait you can just flash this.

Can't wait! Question: I saw the OTA looks like it might be coming in the next few days. Does this ROM have the update disabled?

Awesome! Thanks so much for all your hard work. I've used a lot of the ROMs out there and this is my favorite. I can flash this over my current ROM with no wipe, right? (I'd rather not have to reinstall everything again).

i'm thinking you will need to wipe for the apps2sd to install...i know it sucks ,i'm trying to set my phone back up now lol.

you also need to format your sd card for apps2sd to work also. will edit my OP now with steps to do that.
