Root [ROM][July14] Icy Fusion V5.0 | Smooth | Tweaked | Themed | Battery

it's easy to replace the inverted apps with stock ones. Just go to system/apps folder and drop the apk in there and reboot and you'll have the new apk. DO NOT INSTALL IT LIKE OTHER APPS

When I first started using eclipse I didnt like the inverted play store (which I actually like now) and I just downloaded the latest play store off xda and dropped the play store apk in system/apps and then rebooted and boom! I had the stock play store again.

I must thank neph for teaching me this though, because I kept trying to install the apk and it wouldnt work :p and neph showed me the proper way to do it.

I assume the same applies if you want to add inverted apps?

Hello, first time rooter, trying to get a handle on things. I've been reading up on various ROMs, trying to get rid of LG's stock setup (It's driven me mad these last few months, so I've been trying to replace it). Unfortunately, I rooted RIGHT before the ICS update, and then it didn't take, so things have gotten even worse.

My question is that I'm currently at 2.3.6 of Android, but I'm looking to install this ROM. Is this an ICS ROM? (I ask because I'd like to use Xbox SmartGlass, but I don't know if it's compatible with all the descriptions of Inverted apps) And, if it is, can I simply follow the instructions to install it, or do I need to perform Neph's instructions to install ICS stock first?

Thanks for the help! And apologies if I posted this in the wrong area.

You will probably want to update to the ICS ota first. There a couple methods listed in the forum. Then use the pwnage tool to root and unlock. Once you've done that, you can flash whichever rom you want. And yes, this is an ICS rom.

Perfect. Thanks for the update. I'll go run the ICS ota scripts. :) Thanks again!

I actually tried that first and it didn't work. In hindsight, I think the issue was that I probably had a version mismatch between GMail 4.2 and 4.2.1. I think if I had frozen the app first, cleared the app data and cache, then replaced it - it probably would have worked.

I wasnt clear enough. I uninstalled the play store apk in rom toolbox pro first. I would assume you could just drag and drop the new apk and replace the old one but maybe you do need to remove it completely first.

Hey guys, well like Ultimate Cane I rooted shortly before the update...I've already installed this ROM on 2.3.6, it worked but some things didn't quite match up..it was the 4.2 version of Icy Fusion I believe..so on another board I had some people helping me out with running the cab files, but I am completely unconfident bc the stuff looks awfully confusing seeing that I need to hook it up to my computer, it just looks a good bit different than rooting...if anybody would be willing and could take the time to PM me or something and help me (run the.cab files without bricking my phone) this I would greatly appreciate that! I'm really excited to get rid of the ROM I'm running now.. Thanks!

Still running on charge from Tuesday, although i did turn the phone off last night.:p Found that Handcent is turning the wifi on everytime i go to send a message. That may be my power draw, cant find an option to turn that function off. Also discovered that Google, and Voice search don't work, they just close after a few seconds. Is this a known issue??

Also anyone have a link to the .APK for the stock messaging app??? I would like to retry that.

Been running this since Monday, good battery life. Flashed the battery zip.....eating my battery significantly quicker. 75% after 3 hours of minimal use.

I installed this ROM about 3 days ago. It's been running pretty well with just a few reboots a day.
My main issue, not sure if it's just me, but I don't have data. Is it just me?

Got it upgraded to ICS, yay! :D

I've got another question now. I need BT on my phone, as it's critical to both my driving (phone has BT) and my earpiece. At the moment, root + bootloader = BT is broken, but I can install ROMs at that point. Will installing Icy Fusion fix the BT issue?

Edit: I meant to write "car has BT". :P

Nope Bluetooth issue is when you unlock the bootloader we are working on that now

Getting better progress on v6 and for some reason data is not working or signal think i screwed up somewhere when i added some files.....will need to remove some i think, might be some of the build prop tweaks will look into it tomorrow

After going back to stock (well SOTARD) for a week - and coming back @ v5.3, I can say with certainty that the call volume (to my ear) is much lower on this ROM. Are there any tweaks you can do in v6 (or that we can do now via a script) to get the volume back up?

Another thing I noticed that could be related is that the volume from the navigation app also seemed to be lower. I haven't tried it since switching back so I can't say for certain.

I'm pretty sure it's not caused by the Ac!d sound engine because I installed that on SOTARD as well.

Well I did notice that when you plug headphones in and the Ac!d mod runs you can't adjust call volume anymore. I put it to the lowest and it still sounds as though the person is screaming in my ear.
I tested this and get the same behavior. Even though the icon on the screen shows a phone, it has no effect. I think you're right that Ac!d is the culprit on this one. I believe it takes over all sound output when it detects something plugged into the headphone jack.

I also had the opportunity to test out the navigation volume and it's fine (albeit, through the headphone jack).
