Root [ROM] KANAIDA - Shang Tsung 1 (ICS 4.0.4)

Most definitely, this phone is seriously lacking in some dev love. This is the first Android I've bought that has had this little development on it. I think from now on instead of grabbing what's new new from Metro I'm gonna wait a little bit (hopefully prices come down a lil too) and come to the site and check to see which devices have ongoing development and devoted devs before hand. Cause by the nine this phone is seriously crap with this ZV nonsense. I've never seen a phone run so poorly out of box before, and with the only development (petty much) being in the ways of making it run the way it should is just sad.

I wouldn't say the phone runs poorly. If I reboot it every morning it doesn't give me nearly as many problems as before. It's a learning process, there are lots of ways to make it run more efficiently, even stock. It should by all rights, run great OTB considering it's price tag. Now, you've never owned an Optimus M, have you? LOL... That was a complete disaster upon initial power-up, that's why it got a lot more devLove than the Connect did :D

He's trying to say how could you believe that this project is still alive. Since the progress on the connect had slowed down drastically over the past 2 months and was never that high to begin with.

Just be glad for rom #2 tbh its really amazing.

Couple of posts deleted.

Bashing Devs for (what you percive to be) them having stopped working on a ROM, is not really fair.

You aren't forced to make donations... they are a free choice!

Devs work on ROM's in their own time, along side other stuff going on in RL, jobs, families, etc. Please don't ask for updates/timescales... it's just not done.

Word to your mother :)

I dev at work full time 5 days a week, get home late every day, gotta pay the lady some attention at home, try to make it into the top 100 in MK9 (I'm only 60 ranks away lol). At the same time ponder in the back of my head all the angles I could attack it, drink some alcohol, drink more if it's the weekend. Remember to let the lady out of the house every once in a while lol... feed the cat. Curse at the LG developers in my head before I go to sleep. Revenge will be mine.... :) when I have the time.

Hey Kanaida? Have you tried compiling the LG lucid source from the LG site. I'm having trouble adding a toolchain

I will say this once more, the android src LG includes for 99% of its devices is useless for development. It has nothing device specific in it, aka for the emulator. I have only seen a few LG src actually have a real device tree included and iircc it was for the Marquee and similar devices.

Now all that^^^ does not pertain to the kernel src which LG etc has to provide at release to comply with the GPL.

;)

Can you blame a noob dev for not. Knowing this

Not blaming anyone, I have just stated that numerous times in this section alone. Its not aimed at anyone in particular and if at anyone, more so at kanaida because I have told that to him for months, not to mention even mentioned it on the Esteem forums. lol

Just a FYI, not bashing on anyone, I save that for those who show up out of nowhere making wild claims of they do/can do/and give a ETA even of when it'll be done. All with no background or anything else to back it up. ;)

All praise kanaida and Playfull God,

We the users salute you!

I subscribed to this thread back when it first began in hopes that the proyect would be fullfilled.

Lets talk about the elephant in the room. I WILL pay for this rom when (notice i did not say if) you guys release it ;)

The only time I ever download lg source (for the kernel) that compiled was for the esteem when I made my homeless kernel. This was before oracle screwed with the java jdk packages in ubuntu etc... making it a whole lot harder to get the environment right. At least i could build that properly from the start.

What I was trying this time was to build the whole enchillada. Even editing all the crap code (in java by translating in my head. I write in .net) as I went along.

I'm glad PG finally got the kernel booting, if you have more patience than me you must be a golem :)

Lots of people don't realize how complicated this stuff can get. Millions of text files that may or may not be useful or related, changes over time, crap source code and folder structures, bad information and instructions, dealing with the linux kernel, missing drivers etc...
