Root [ROM] MidnightRom: Sense 1.5.4

lol fix one problem and another happens.

New version will be up tomorrow. I NEEDS TEH SLEEPZ

Rom is perfect atm except for overclocking past what is already set. Still working on it.

I've tried that before on other roms and it never works

Tried what?

Figured out the problem. Was a kernel issue. Reverted back to 3.4.3. (pain in the friggin butt trying to figure out what was going on >.<)

Uploading to my dropbox atm. Will transfer it over to the goo server's tomorrow.

I MUST NOW SLEEPZ (for real this time :P)

1.3.11 (fix release) 9/22/2012 (Latest)
MD5:

-Reverted kernel version to 3.4.3 because of overclocking issues
-Cleared out some code in the post boot file

Is s-off still required for full full functionality if thisrom? I wanted to flash it but I haven't done the wire trick and already have EXT4 which would allow me to flash a kernel for overclocking. Gaining some speed is my only main concern as I like the stock ui. Has anyone successfully flashed this with EXT4 s-on and not had any problems like losing 4g and 3d? Thanks

Jason

To answer those questions. Speed will be Gained and you will be able to overclock up to 1.7.. and i use ext4 and i love it! this rom flashes Flawlessly every time. This is the rom you are looking for man. All functionality is their too. noting left out.

While reverting to the old kernel didn't fix the oc thing it is significantly faster than the new one. At least benchmark wise. Keep up the good work!

TY!

I actually need a few people to test a version for me with a fix for the new kernel updates.

The changelog would be as follows:

-Updated kernel to 4.4.7
-Removed some postboot scripts
-Changed postboot to underclock to 1.29 ghz

(Way this works is the kernel's clock is set to 1.7 ghz, which means that the second the phone boots, the phone clocks to 1.7ghz by default. What the post boot script does is it sets the speed to 1.29 ghz when the phone starts, overriding the kernel, but still having that 1.7ghz option there, allowing for personal overclocking up to that speed.)

Thing is, I don't know if the postboot script activates fast enough to stop any possible freezes when the phone is booting. It's worked for me so far, but I'd like to test it on a few more phones before actually releasing it.

Any takers?

I'll give it a go but I wont have a chance until late tonight. :smokingsomb:

Just FYI I had to uninstall the maps in 3.11 and install the market one because it was getting a "data connection lost" every time I tried to use it. Easy fix.

i had a random issue where i had was charging my phone and a few hours later when i tried to power the screen on it would not work, i had to do a battery pull, this is on 1.3.0 was this fixed in 1.3.1? i dont want to update if i have to, that overclocking issue doesn't bother me because i usually overclock to 1.296 ghz :p.

Dammit.... Just updated too. Thanks xthedakmanx!!!

Currently on 1.3. I have CPU Max set at 1.7 and the min at 1 or 1.2. Often when I open the phone, it's really laggy, and I check the recent speed in no frills CPU, it shows 100% at 384. Then i see both min and Max set to 384... why is it dropping, and changing my settings? I have apply at boot checked, and governor is on demand. If I change it back, it sticks, and the lag disappears immediately... But mysteriously returns... Any ideas?

Edit: I suspect juice defender is changing my CPU settings. When I look in the settings for that app tho, I don't have the CPU control on, and even if I try to use it, it says my kernel isn't supported. But since I turned jd off completely, my CPU settings are staying put. So maybe now my question is what's with JD...

Edit: nope JD is off and my CPU went to 384 again, reporting 100% of the time. My selections still show on the right, but on the left they change when the phone sites idle for a while.

I just flashed this. All I can say is wow. This is a great improvement over stock. I have yet to hit 4400 Quad but I just did 41??. I'm running into an issue with the weather portion of the clock widget on the main page. One of the options i'm checking is causing it to close. I'll repost once I've figured out which one it is. Great ROM though. Is there anywhere we can re-download the Polaris Office suite that comes on the phone. I couldn't find it in the Market.

Update:
It's the sound effects option on the weather feature of the clock widget that is causing the error. Any suggestions?

ok so i got the 1.3.11 and i finally getting 4000+ quadrant scores, but is jelly bean internet better than the ics, and is it better than firefox? or should i use chrome?

edit: I may have resolved the issue. :) Thanks again for an amazing ROM, the amazing work, as well as the effort to keep it updated. It really is appreciated.

Edit2: I am receiving 'Unfortunately, the system UI has stopped' message nonstop, literally every 10-30 seconds. My top 'notofication bar' with the time, signal, ect has dissapeared completely. It started happening in the previous ROM (1.3.1), so i thought if I flashed to 1.3.11 (yes I wiped Cache, Dalvik Cache) it would dissapear. It is still occurring. I am at a complete loss. Any ideas?
