Root [ROM] MidnightRom: Sense 1.5.4

I installed the latest (many thanks for all the hard work, I'm not complaining just trying to help):

-Integrated V6 Supercharger into services.jar
-Removed htc logging services/other logging services from services.jar
-Removed htc logging services/other logging services from framework.jar
-Remove CheckinProvider.apk
-Build.prop htc logging edits
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1247108)
-Removed duplicated entries in build.prop
-Removed googlequicksearchbox
-Services.jar edit for better Google Now performance (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30368133&postcount=4384)

Google NOW seems to work, but I can not exit, that is I have to hit "home" "back" does nothing. Not sure how this was integrated in how it's suppose to work with 4.0.3, ( it's back-ported from 4.1 ).

Also vote for better Audio, that is currently Audio is outstanding! but having even better audio would be nice.

I just downloaded and installed the latest version, 1.4.4 and I am on hboot 1.04. Installed flawlessly. Thanks , this rom rocks.

When you hit the home button, long press it again, your recent apps will appear, close it that way.

For some reason my wifi isn't working. It says "error" and refuses to let me turn it on. I'll tinker with it for a little while but will restore my 1.4.3 backup until this is fixed.

I fixed that by forgetting then re-discovering. Works as expected after that.

That's normal. Dunno why, just is xD It's how it was made.

I TRIED to put mobsterz's audio into this, but it totally crashed everything. It may be a while until I integrate it.

TY! ^_^

I am getting some FC on some apps. (Amazon AppStore, Engadget, etc)

I am getting FC on Amazon AppStore as well.

Try the latest version that was just posted. If you are still getting FC's, do a full wipe. I haven't had any issues whatsoever.

ANYWAYS!!! New version! Basically what's new is...a touchscreen enhancement, updated files where now things run extraaaa smooth, enthropy generator (removes even MORE lag), default wallpaper change, and more logging removal.

You can verify enthropy generator is running buy opening up a terminal in android and putting in...
Code:
su
seeder

1.4.5 1/9/2013 (Latest)

-Integrated Enthropy Generator (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032)
-Changed install script to make Enthropy Generator work correctly
-removed libsmith.so, libhtcqxdm2sd.so, htc_ebdlogd (Loggers. There should now be ZERO left)
-Added init.d script for WiMax hack
-Change default wallpaper

For some reason wifi on 1.4.4 is working again. After I discovered it wasn't working I restored my 1.4.3 back up. Then this morning I decided to flash 1.4.4 and wifi was working. I don't know what happened but I'll see what 1.4.5 has in store.

New version coming tomorrow (Sorry about all the updates guys! Well...kinda sorry xD Updates are always good ^_^)

1.4.5 1/10/2013 (Latest)

-Removed google voice search (didn't need it anymore because of google now)
-Optimized all system apk's to reduce memory load
-Updated Entropy Seeder to V7
-Updated apps that needed it

Talk to mobz about HD Audio

I am still getting FC from Amazon appstore.

It installs fine, but when I try to install an app from "My app", I get FC.
Would you please look into this issue?
I just want to make sure this has been fixed before I do full wipe.

Thanks.

I will second this dak. Excellent work as always.

So the weirdest thing...

After reinstalling 1.4.4 wifi started working. So I flashed 1.4.5 and - can you believe it - wifi didn't work. I rebooted into Recovery and wiped dalvik and cache, again and wifi is working. Apparently it needs to be wiped twice. But now some apps like the Play Store is force closing. I did a google search for a current apk of the market and installed it and now it's working again.

I hope this helps anyone.

That entropy generator is Seeder, right?
Is there a way to turn it off?
There's a lot of debate around whether it's a placebo, battery drain, CPU hogging, etc. and I can't find an account of somebody testing it scientifically.

Besides that, it is mentioned on the code page for Seeder that:
"...this is not a good idea from a security perspective."
That is a major deal breaker for me.

This is the Google Code page:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42265

And this is an xda blog post about Seeder:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/entropy-seed-generator-not-all-its-hacked-up-to-be/

Basically, it's really inconclusive what (if anything) Seeder does, and I'd just like to know if we can turn it off.

No offense to any devs involved.

Issue 42265 - android - Android empties the entropy pool, resulting in blocking, user perceived lag/poor performance - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

And this is an xda blog post saying NOT to use Seeder:

No offense to any devs involved.

If you WANT to turn it off, just go into an terminal emulator and put in

Code:
su
seeder

And then look at the menu

BUT! Before you do...

Security: The chances of someone actually hacking into your android through any "security hole" this makes are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less than someone doing it another way. Heck, the loggers that I recently deleted/disabled probably created a bigger security risk then this lol.

There is a (theoretical) security risk, in that seeding /dev/random with /dev/urandom decreases the quality of the random data. In practice, the odds of this being cryptographically exploited are far lower than the odds of someone attacking the OS itself (a much simpler challenge). It's worth noting that as of ICS, Dalvik uses /dev/urandom exclusively, anyway, and that Linux is one of very few modern operating systems that even offer a blocking RNG device to begin with.

Lag: It has definitely improved lag between apps, windows, etc. AND has improved performance in antutu, so not only it's it a noticeable change, it's numerical change as well (in antutu)

Battery usage: Minimal, even if any (Zero in my usage). The latest version even disables itself when the screen is off, so the CPU does stay asleep. I've been using this for days and haven't noticed any battery issues whatsoever. It's actually improved (Probably because of all the tweaks I've been doing lately, but still)

Support for rngd suspend-on-sleep was added to Seeder 1.2. It should no longer impact battery life while the device is asleep.
