Root [ROM] Mik3D - RC1- [10/31/2011]

JustSomeDude, I have to thank you because that link is so good and detailed on what to do. I am definitely going to flash this new ROM because I did not do all those steps last time. Everyone should seriously read this.

I have one more question and I will be running MIK3d later:

I am using titanium backup. I backed up all my apps in a batch backup.

I am guessing I will then just redownload it and it will see the file and I will restore the apps? Just making sure I am not missing anything

Yes, if you have the paid version of titanium backup, you will just do a batch restore to reinstall all your apps (if you have the free version, you will need to hit "install" for each and every app).

Just FYI: Some people recommend you don't restore all in a batch in case data from apps from the last rom is/are a problem with the new one. Not sure if that is true or not -- but to be sure, when I'm not in a rush, I actually create a list on appbrain and reload each app from the market, then restore data to only those apps I actually need data restored (folder organizer, angry birds, etc). Of course that requires a lot more patience than many of us have. :)

And remember to never backup/restore system data, only apps+data.

doing a batch restore all with data is ok to do. just make sure that there is no system apps listed. scroll through the list to make sure. if all that there is listed is just apps then you are good to go. and you are correct about system data never restore those. that is where your issues will be if you do.

^^^

So I should restore accounts and accounts and sync? Really just my apps is all I need correct?

No, only restore user apps + user app data. Nothing else.

If you want to save and restore bookmarks, music playlists, alarms, and dictionary, use MyBackup Root to restore those.

Your contacts, etc should all be restored when you sign into google (as long as they are "google contacts," not "phone contacts.")

Edit
:

Oh, and for your SMS/MMS, use SMS Backup, that will save them to your gmail acct.

I read in the initial post that this rom allowed screen shots with menu button and power button.

I am not having any luck with that, any ideas?

OMG i have not been so happy for a rom in a while and i must say this rom is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have the golden monkey 1.1 setcpu set to 245/1190 ondemand and screen off profile 128/245 with the v6 supercharger set to #8. this thing is flying like no other i have been on. smoothest rom i have been on. plus sense 3.0! all i need now is a sbc kernel and i'm set.

seriously guys try this out. i know it is a beta. but damn this should be a r1 as is.

I just downloaded the golden monkey 1.1. I also got most of the setcpu good to go. I wanted to ask what is v6 super charger? Also do I check the box set on Boot in setcpu?

Thank you

Nice..I want to track down a list of the differences or maybe wade through some threads.

I know the mik3d is not as stable yet, and the 2.45 is sooooooo smooth and responsive that i don't want to just flash and try out 3d yet.

But of course I am curious what else i get besides the panoramic camera.

^^^^^^^ Man you took the words out of my mouth..... I really wanna try that ROM.

yep the order sounds roght just make a nandroid first. and the first three is checked plus wimax. you only need one nandroid with wimax checked and saved on your computer. after that just the first three is fine.
Sorry for the double post.. and this is going to sound really n00bish but.... what file am I moving to my puter? I'm not moving it there I'm going to make copies right?

The v6 script seems kinda difficult to install...I may skip that for now :)

With GM 1.1 set to 422/844 and a screen off of 245/384 there was almost no battery drain at all. I texted, checked email, played a couple words in Word Free, made a move in chess.com, used vlingo. Since 3pm I am still at 69% on my extended battery! For a beta ROM this is outstanding!!

Tomorrow I plan to jump setcpu up to over 1000 and see how that goes. I tried to max it out when I first put the ROM on with GM 1.1 but it rebooted the phone and went loopy.

I showed this ROM to my buddy using mikFroyo and he is super jealous now :)

Careful not to set setCPU to 'set at boot' or whatever that option is called, if you overclock it too much, set as boot can bootloop ya for a bit.

So far this thing is rocking...I am going to grab a kernel now and get crazy.

Only thing is that the weather does not display..it says not available. I denied google access to the phone on setup and maybe that is why, but I thought I had activated it back in settings later on.

Yeah I know I made that mistake a few days ago...this time it just locked up and rebooted itself it was real odd.

Is that a weather app that needs gps possibly? Yeah, go through settings again and see if you catch anything. Could always clear data for that app and see if that helps.

So should I not ever have SetCPU set to set at boot?..I am about to flash GM and I was wondering how that worked.I wanted to have it set up to run once I start the phone. I don't plan on overclocking..more like keeping it around 800ish and then setting up a profile for screen off.

Just want spotify to be able to run while the screen is off and im good

If you are running setCPU with no issues, then by all meaning set it to boot.

I think booting from SetCPU while underclocking is fine.

v6 seemed hard at first but I threw caution to the wind and went with it. Glad that I did. It's not hard at all. Just follow the pic tut link that I posted. You should be fine, as long as you can 1. read and 2. can follow what it says to do. You'll be right as the rain.

Excellent..BTW, I cleared the data on my widget and I still have no weather. Manually entered my city for now. Anything else I should check out?

It will have to wait until next week when I have no shifts at work and have all day to flash...

Man that sounds wrong :p

So I have two links I keep handy to remind myself what to do when nandroiding, flashing, etc:

For instructions on nandroids, etc:
Main Page - Evorootwiki

And for the process each time you flash a new rom (from themimik):
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...FFqbG5ZTnA3a29tS1pta1Q3YnlQMHc&hl=en_US&gid=3

(I skip #15 & 16, but stick to the rest, and usually have flawless installs).

i was lookin at that spreadsheet and it says Wipe EVERYTHING except sd card....when i go into wipe it shows sd card twice....one is Wipe SDCARD: .android_secure..............the other one says Wipe SDCARD:......soooo which one is NOT supposed to be wiped??
