Root [ROM] Mik3D - RC1- [10/31/2011]

i was lookin at that spreadsheet and it says Wipe EVERYTHING except sd card....when i go into wipe it shows sd card twice....one is Wipe SDCARD: .android_secure..............the other one says Wipe SDCARD:......soooo which one is NOT supposed to be wiped??

those are only if you have your card partitioned. if you do not then just wipe dalvik cache, cache, and data. and also i would recommend that you use the vr superwipe as well.

yep i do it three times. its overkill, but it is what i do. it only takes a few sec's longer and it really makes a clean environment for your new rom to flash into. and yes the superwipe does it three times as well. but that is just me.

hey, it works for me lol....youve probly done it hundreds of times and i've almost done it 1 time lmao...i'll take ur advice....running my backup now...

saweet....mik3d is awesome...once i load all my apps n stuff i don gotta reboot or nothing do i??..

also im gonna be away for like 4 or 5 days without access to a computer, so if for any reason i want to switch back to the rom that i had on there, do i gotta go through the whole wiping and flashing thing again and then restore the backup on the sdcard? or can i just go into recovery and restore it and thats it?

no need to reboot. you are good to go. you can just go into recovery and restore your previous nandroid backup and BAM! your back to your previous rom (provided that you did a nandroid backup before flashing mik3d.)

yup i made one right before i flashed mik3d....sweet...i feel a lil better about being away from the comp now lol...thanks for the help man...

Weather is now working..this ROM is really great. Any tricks or tips that we should know about this new version of Sense that may not be obvious to figure out?

Golden Monkey seems nice..my battery life is much better so far..which is huge for me. I wish the upper icons were like Mik 2.45 but thats a small complaint.

I have gladly deactivated 4G.

Interesting : Stock ROM did not give me 3G at all..I had nothing. It also lagged like crazy and rebooted sometimes.

Do you guys think underclocking a little (883) like I am doing helps keep the battery temp lower and aids against reboots?

Anyone have any issues with WIFI? (I have 4G off)

When the phone fired up the first time, I did not enter in my wifi passcode, but it did detect the networks in my area.

I have turned on wifi again, and now it never seems to see any networks. Anything I should reset?

my wifi works beautifully. try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps.

Ok I will..how long do you think the OEM lasts before you should replace it? I just got a new one coming on order and wondered because I still drain my battery pretty fast with 4g off and smartcpu underclocking.

I have had it over a year, so maybe it is just tapping out.

My wifi is outstanding. Because of my Sprint Signal Booster I get dl speeds of 16mbs sometimes

Ok I noticed something...overnight I lost zero battery charge...in fact from when I last posted to when I woke up I lost zero charge. Now, in the half hour since I got home from running errands it went from 49% to 14%! I have full service so it isnt that and I didnt notice any rogue apps running.

Do you think I need to re-calibrate my battery? is there maybe some other explanation?

i got my evo last year this time and my battery seems to last pretty good. a new one could not hurt. i think that a few years should be a good time to replace a battery. of course that depends how you use your phone and such.

do you have a custom kernel? do you have any profiles setup in setcpu? what was your signal strength while running errands? i would turn 3g off as well until you need it.

I am running GM 1.1, setcpu is set to 442/1093 I believe with a screen off of I believe 245/442 but I forget. 3G service is outstanding (tested at 1500kps) because of my booster.

I am not sure what it was like when I was out but when I used the 3g it seemed ok. Like I said while I was out there was normal drop (listened to music, did a bit of browsing and texting) and have done zero since I got home it just sat there on my table.

Maybe I need to switch things back to how they were yesterday in setcpu (442/844 with screen off of 245/442)

Use my phone daily and charge it every night while I sleep.

What is the best way to calibrate it? I know there were a few including a few from HTC, and I was wondering if there is an official answer yet.

A new thing happened with my phone. I wanted to install a file on my phone so I mounted the disk drive to the computer and it took about a whole 2 mins to read and show the files on the computer. Anyone experience this? Also a few times I have noticed that my voicemail failure notices comes on and its says force close. Any recommendations for both these minor problems?

Been having a like prob, only worse, mounting as disk with one sd card. haven't figured it out myself yet.

The card works fine in an adapter though, so I am not going to sweat it. anymore, today, anyway... :)

No real idea on voice mail thing. could try going into settings and apps and manage and see if there is something you can clear out in there. Not sure if you would lose anything valuable though. Good luck!

This has happened to me before on another rom. I had to switch roms after trying everything else I could think of (battery pulls, reboot pc, use a different USB cord, etc)

is this the stock card? it could be what is on your card. any huge files could cause it to be slow. the stock cards are only class 2 i think. the higher the class the card is the faster the read and write speeds will be.

as far as your fc's on your voicemail try and wipe dalvik cache and cache. it should clear that up. works for me every time.

I'm really looking forward to the next beta version of this rom. Currently 4G on this thing seems a bit buggy to say the least. I'll add my findings to this thread so that those looking to flash this rom can know before hand what to expect.

Mail app does not work through 4G.
Camera flash will not work while 4G is enabled (even if your not getting 4G coverage)
Wifi-Hotspot will not work 4G and in fact crashes it requiring a restart to get 4G working again.

With that said, Ocn what is the app you use for tethering so I can try that out later tonight when I'm in the city on my laptop wanting 4G tethering :). A hotspot style app would be ideal.

you can get them here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...net-tethering-w-evo-4g-3g-wireless-wired.html

edit:the hacked hotspot as you will see in the guide will not work on 4g.
