Root [rom] miui4dx 1.8.19[updated 8/23/2011]

I'll check back here until something more stable for the DX has been released, but until then, I'll just be on a standard GB root with BWC theme. Who knows, maybe that is the fit for me. I think it was and I should go back to that forever. I get a new phone in a year anyway...lol, like I can last that long w/o modding this thing.:p

Well, so far 1.7.22 is still doing well with me. What megapixel pictures does the miui camera take? I haven't seen that. Battery life for me has been about the same as with my other GB roms I used, even stock GB.

Looks like after reading through rootzwiki people are having a lot of issues with miui in all versions above 1.7.22...so I am sticking with 1.7.22 for now.

I could not agree with you more! I am going back to 1.7.22 today. I had skipped 1.7.29 due to all the issues and very little upgrades, but have tried 1.8.5 and 1.8.12 and 1.8.19 and the biggest problem is the radio going to airplane mode, 1.8.19 has been the worst and I even wiped everything this time just to be safe. Battery also seems to be worse on 1.8.19 than any other version.

I am going to flash back to 1.7.22 as that build was really good to start with. I just love the everyday (when there aren't the radio issues) working of MIUI, it has so much built in that I had to have other apps do for me.

Nothing that has been going on with all of the builds this month. Actually over all it is nice and there have been some improvements since 1.7.22. However there have been two huge downgrades to me. The Airplane mode bug that the phone for no apparent reason will go in to airplane mode and you have to reboot to get service back. I had it happen 6 times in a 24 hour period (the worst it has been for me), the last time happening at 7:30 last night, since then I have not lost service. The other bug is the built in screenshot is no longer working. To me none of the improvements are worth the airplane mode bug. 1.7.22 was an amazing build and I had no issues with it. There is now a zip that can be applied to get the improved battery settings that have been added on the old versions as well.

So if anyone is wanting to try MIUI or go back to MIUI I would highly recommend going with the 1.7.22 (original) version.

I still think MIUI has the best interface of any ROM I have used.
 
ok i havent followed this thread in a while, so can someone inform me if the airplane mode bug has been fixed or not? otherwise im not flashing this rom lol
 
Several people have mentioned using LCD density with MIUI.

I am thinking about giving LCD density a try. Does anyone know the most suitable density that causes minimal issues?
 
regardless to what people have said this is by far my favorite rom. It may be kinda "iphoneish" but if you think that just use a launcher. You still have full functionality of the rom, with the android style. full customization is still intact, till very fast and no problems what so ever for me.
For me with the lcd density and boot animation i used "Rom Toolbox".
Not one complaint about this rom. flawless, works, great battery life, fast!
 
I seem to be having issues with wifi.

I connected to wifi for the first time on MIUI. When I attempted to disconnect/turn off wifi, it was in the process of disconnecting, but then it started turning on & connecting again. I tried forgetting the network, but it still turned on and was searching for a signal. After turning on wifi, it never turns off; if I try to turn it off, it comes back on.

Any help would be most appreciated.

really. the airplane bug was never even mentioned until .29 I believe. You started from a fresh SBF? and flashed the .22.1 patch?

I'm on .22.1 just because it's the absolute best version for the DX IMO. screen cap works. No airplane bug. Battery life is fine for me.

I followed Tom108's advice and began to use Juice Defender. I have not had an airplane bug in over two weeks. As a bonus, battery life is also improved.

i just checked my downloads and i dont even have 22.1 so that was my issue, do you think you can supply me with a link to download it? so i can get back on miui? or host it so that some of us that want it can get it?

OK, so still working to get back to 1.7.22 myself. I found one major improvement that was not working on 1.7.22 and that was the back-up application. I had dropped titanium back-up and was using the MIUI back-up and that is not working on 1.7.22. So I have been getting my 150 apps backed up so I can move back to 1.7.22. What I had to do was restore a fresh 1.8.19 and then reload the back-up. In doing so I wiped everything and I mean everything I could think of. I had no airplane mode bugs since yesterday at 3:00 when I got this done. Then this morning 4 times in one hour!!!!!! I am almost up and going on 1.7.22 now. Needless to say until I see people going awhile without the bug I am staying on this build.
 
How do you get back to 1.7.22?

I started with the latest, and I'd really like to try it without the airplane mode junk.
