Root [rom] miui4dx 1.8.19[updated 8/23/2011]

Ok, everyone, just tracked down the problem with having no ringtone sound upon installing miui. I just installed 1.7.22 and it did exactly the same thing that 1.8.12 did, no ringtone. By default, DND is ENABLED in 1.7.22. So, I disabled it and now phone is ringing. If you are on 1.8.22, you might want to check that setting and see if it is the same.

Settings>DND Mode>Enable DND=ON

Where are the Wifi settings in miui? Don't see them under Settings anywhere.

Not sure in the settings menu, but if you go to the Toggles in the pull down and hold down on Wifi it opens the settings.

In doing this to test it, in settings>system and then WLAN Settings is the Wifi settings.

well miui did it again to my connection, so it is no longer on my list of roms to maintain, back on omfgb, i may flash omgb just to have the pure aosp experience, because i really dont use much of the features omfgb offers

Before you go back to OMFGB you should try Liquid GB 2.6, I've been running it for about a week now and I like it quite a bit :D

Side Note:
I only lasted about half a day on MIUI, I just couldn't take it, it's not for me :p

I have had the airplane mode bug twice today on 1.8.12 (I had it a total of three times on 1.8.5, however 2 of them were within the first 24 hours, just like this has been). I have switched to .13 radio to see if that helps at all.

ROM's are just different tastes for different people, if not there would not be so many (as we would say in Kansas City, this is just like BBQ). I personally really like MIUI and all that it can do and all the options and just the feel of it.

For anyone looking to try this here are the current bugs that I have seen on 1.8.12 -
1-Notification foreclose in theme manager, however if you use the music to set you notifications this works fine. (prior to 1.8.12 was not an issue)
2-Airplane mode bug (prior to 1.8.5 this was not an issue)
3-Built in screen capture is still not working (prior to 1.8.5 this was not an issue)

This comes with the same issues as all 2nd-init ROMs of not having the blur camera and camcorder options and recording in 720p and no HDMI out.

To be honest if someone new was trying this and wanted the build with the less amount of bugs I would use 1.7.22. I did not go to 1.7.29 because of some of the issues I saw with it.

i was on the updated radio when it did it multiple times. so its not an issue with the radio

Almost immediately, I loaded Launcher Pro. That got rid of the terrible home screen but then the rest of the ROM is wonderful in the sense that it can be configured in so many ways.

Couple of other possible bugs that I've experienced with 1.8.12...
1) Bluetooth randomly un-pairs from the phone.
2) DND blacklist only works half the time.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't experience these probs on 1.8.5

is there a way or any backup so that if i flash a newer version of miui it will keep all my folders in tact. kinda PITA to organize all my apps again

Menu, Personal, all the way at the bottom backup data & settings, add new backup. Actually now that I think about it all my settings have been saved throughout the updates. I didnt wipe anything in between though.

ahh thanks. any chance you know if we can sort my apps alphabetically?

After you put apps in folders you can edit the folder to organize apps by name. Not sure if this is what your asking?

Does anyone else have issues with the auto brightness toggle in the notification bar? On all builds since .29 sometimes mine works sometimes not. Seems anytime I flash anything (new radio) today for example mine stops working. Sometimes I can reboot several times and it will work again. Most of the time I have to restore a backup.

haven't had any problems with it.

I have always used my own custom ringtone that I created for my phone ringer and so far all roms I have used will show all of my custom ringtones and notification tones when I go into settings to change the ringertone all miui shows are the default ringtones and notification tones. Does it not see the folder from the sdcard with those in it? Do I have to manually copy them to a system folder on the phone to get it to see them?

Got my Handcent tone working. It will let select from MUSIC, THEME MANAGER, & MUSIC. So, I can select what I want. But in the ringtone in settings I can't do that, there are no options to select anything but the default tones.

you can use ringdroid from the market to set default rings and notifications.

I'm not on MIUI anymore, but I think if you hit the Menu key, it shows an option for "Other". I always had the option of using MUSIC for ringtones while I was on MIUI.

Yeah, already used ringdroid to do that right after I installed miui. Just wondered if there was some way to browse from the main ringtone menu.

RubberDucker,

That did the trick. Thanks! Having to learn all the tricks for everything on this rom...some are a little more tricky than others :D

I am having no problems with the camera or video either.

Here's another couple of things that has me stumped for the moment. Stock miui has no app drawer and all the icons are already on a home screen somewhere, so how do you move the icons across home screens? I am trying to group similar things on my home screens. Can't pull them from the app drawer and so far can't get them to long press and drag them across home screens either.

did you have your camera set on widescreen settings? i think the installation of miui says take that off, maybe thats your problem...

Long press and drag is exactly how you do it. It's just like the iPod Touch or iPhone. If you don't want all your home screens cluttered up like that, you can create folders group them that way. The folders have the added benefit of being able to be sorted. But, to answer your question, long press and drag is how you do it. Not sure why it's not working for you.

Or, you could just switch to LauncherPro or GoLauncher if you don't like the iPhone look and feel...

Well, I have always used LPP, but I was going to give the stock look of miui a test first and see how I like it. I can long press on any of the icons an drag them all over the current displayed screen, but I cannot get them to move to another screen...weird. In other roms, I would just long press and pull them over to the edge of the screen and then the phone would move over to the next screen, but no luck with miui. will continue testing it before throwing LPP on there.

Thanks!
