Root [rom] miui4dx 1.8.19[updated 8/23/2011]

I'm just wondering how often and why you are rebooting so much that it really matters how long it takes to boot up (1min vs 1/2min)?

Not that often to be honest, but it just really stuck out to me. Most of the time it is to boot in to recovery to flash something. So yes it is not a huge deal, but it was something that I did notice right away.

I really am loving this rom. I am having problems with loading a different boot animation though, and some of the text in the pulldowns and messaging aren't correct on some themes... I don't really understand that. For example, some of text will be black on a black background. :/ Aside from that, everything is amazing.

I'm using LPP with Multi-picture live wallpaper for the transparent status bar. I wish there was a way to have a transparent status bar without it on LPP....

Only complaint would have to be battery life. It seems a little shorter than CM7, but maybe it's the live wallpaper or something I'm doing wrong.

Oh, and how do I boot into recovery? I can't seem to... :/

One of the themes I downloaded had a transparent status bar on the stock launcher. Try some out. It could also be in an option in one of the settings menus.

I'm not sure what I think yet. I like changing my look/feel on my phone constantly and the themes aren't as nice as the ones for theme manager it seems to me.

It is fast, battery seems about the same as CM7 but I really don't like the menus.

Greetings,

I just installed the release of MIUI that was put out for the DroidX. I am loving it so far, but several apps now tell me that they are not compatible with my phone when I browse the Android Market on the web. If I try to locate the apps directly on the market from my phone they simply don't show up in search. For example,

  • PayPal
  • Car Locator
  • Google Car Home
  • My Tracks
  • Google Shopper

Is there a work-around for this?

Tried both this and CM today and wasn't really liking either one. I am back to DarkSlide X for now. I like too many of the stock Moto widgets and the stock GingerBlur launcher.

On a side note, I purchased a factory programming cable from TBH and love it. No more waiting on the battery to charge to SBF. For some reason it also completes an SBF much faster with the Factory cable. I can now complete an SBF in under four minutes.

[ROM][7.22.11][MIUI.us OFFICIAL] MIUI4DX 1.7.22.1

Can't seem to get Handcent SMS working on MIUI. Keeps closing out on me. No Force Close message, just bounces back to homescreen.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no worky. Stock messaging is doing the same. Hmm, must have something to do with the fact that I did a data restore on Messaging with Titanium Backup.

hmmmm. Maybe!!! lol I wouldn't restore any apps with data in TiBu

WOW!!!!! I just put this on this morning and I don't have it all set-up yet, but this is amazing. I have been playing with all the settings. I am giving the MIUI launcher a try and like being able to put all the apps in folders, just like I had down in my app drawer on GoLauncher. Let me say I am impressed, I was not going to give this a try because I liked CM7 so much. This has blown me away, it is fast and a lot of built in features that I was using other apps to do.

The other thing that has caught my eye is how quick this boots up. CM7 was taking over a minute to boot up and this takes less than 30 seconds. Count me in the group of believers. Can't wait to start playing with the themes and really make this thing rock!

+1!

Really enjoying this ROM more than I thought I would. I liked CM7s flexibility but this seems so much cleaner. Think I am going to stick with this for a while.

I ended up wiping data and reloading MIUI from the zip file.

I have been able to restore data for email settings, browser bookmarks, and other apps like B folders, K9, etc. I guess I just lost my SMS messages, no big deal.

Liking this rom with Launcher Pro so far. I'll play with the stock launcher more later.

I really wasn't expecting to like this. But using LPP, I get my app drawer back. It is fun picking and choosing from the themes and mixing them up. Its something different. I'll prolly go back to CM7 eventually but its nice to get this much modification in the OS.

Jake, when you want to go into recovery you press down power button. When it pop's up for all the options where it says reboot, you press that button then it should pop up with revcovery, hot reboot, and such. Hope this helps you.

This takes you to stock recovery. CWR is easily reached using ROM manager (2nd-init) as previously stated.

I guess I should put a disclaimer in though, I have a lot of backup history in Titanium Backup. I only restored the data if the backup was highlighted in green, meaning to me, that the app matches what is currently on the system.

Obviously, you are asking for trouble if you try and restore something like a Blur application.

My only issue so far is the car dock. I had to get the Google Car Dock apk online and load it that way because I could not install in through the market (yes I flashed the fix). This worked just fine. The issue is now that some of the MIUI applications when opened in the dock still open in portrait (dialer, contacts and music app). Is there a work around for this?

I have tried out of the dock to put the dialer in landscape mode by turning the phone and it will not work that way either. I can turn it with almost anything else and it works. I also noticed that the stock launcher will not go in to landscape mode either.

Not a deal breaker for me as I really do like the way this is working. Anyone try the HDMI out yet? I was going to reload the app tonight and give it a shot, not expecting it to work, but thought I would give it a try if no one else has.
