Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM7 build 2013-03-03

If all goes well I'm going to update soon. For the most part have double checked we have all the Camera parameters listed in the CM7 code found inside the Cherry Camera libs we are using, also updated all the media files so we are rolling with all Cherry in that department. Hell of allot less dependency files needed then either Stock or Sharp 2.3.5 including all the mm-modules so its much slimmer and easier to work with. Will hopefully also help with the camera issues some of you guys are having. Had been working on the Sharp 2.3.5 files in hopes we could one day take advantage of extra features like facial recognition using the Sharp 2.3.5 Camera libs and Hardware decoding but it seems way off so until a breakthrough or two am going with the flavor of the day and that's Cherry.

Also just wanted to let everyone know Santa will be leaving me an Evo under the tree this year. With that said I still love my Triumph and am not going anywhere but also plan on working with G60 on the Evo side of things so how much my involvement going foreword will be has yet to be determined. Still have dozens of half finished projects and ideas so really not sure how things will work out after the end of the month but like I said, still own 2 Triumphs and don't have any plans on making a total disappearing act. Never imagined the day I bought my Triumph how much of an impact it was going to have on my life so letting it go would be a hard thing to do.

I flashed to this ROM and it's super fast! However the WIFI won't work. It enables, doesn't find any networks, then disables... And I'm surrounded by wireless networks!

Are you using the 10-15 ROM out one of the test roms? The two test roms have broken the wifi.I think they were not for testing out video drivers.

10-15 with BSydz's is very stable.

edit: got to give more credit to new kernel. looks like kernel fixed video issues in a big way.
g60, if you still reading this thread, looks like you were on the right track all along with codecs, all we needed is new kernel. the flicker is still there though

Does portable wifi hotspot work on 10-15 or the latest test ROMs? I'm still running the 11-13 test ROM and realized that my hotspot is broken.

Try 10-15. If I remember correctly, than one works perfectly with Wifi hotspots. Don't think any of the test builds work with the hotspot functionality. I will double check ASAP. I'm on CM9 so give me a little time.

Camera switching in 10-15 with Bsyd's kernel is flawless. I also think the kernel fixed the non-stick settings bug...but I'm not sure because that problem sometimes only emerges later. I'll update soon.

Really the only differences between 10.15 version and the posted test versions is the updated bionic package from CM, the additional Opencore libs found to be used by the existing omx libs and gps amss version update. Each also has a separate change in the boardConfig but had been running the A version as my daily since before posting and a few weeks after and have only experienced the issue switching between front and back camera. Otherwise I have been using with my verizon router at home along with the Comcast router at my Mom's as I babysit an hour a day before work and my insanely complicated work set-up and still Haven't experienced any wifi issues. A few issues hear and there after pushing some experimental changes and new files over adb on an actively running system without a data wipe but otherwise no issues outside switching between Cameras. Just out of curiosity how many users with these issues format/system before flashing? Is a long shot but is something I do before flashing and at a stand still on why some have these issues I cant reproduce. Also sometimes sceptical recently as 2 or 3 builds back I accidentally rebuilt and posted the same build that was posted previously without the actual listed changes included and then started seeing posts about how things had been fixed despite no actual changes so I'm thinking maybe it may be a process or app restoration type of conflict causing some of these issues.

Otherwise if anyone would like to test this out its the 10/15 build with the updates GPS amss version from the currently posted test builds some updates from dsmryder like the bootsound and some other things he could explain better then I and the Cherry media files in place of the files used previously from Sharp 2.3.5. I have been using it since Monday only experiencing the the issue switching between Cameras once and I do this like 25 times a day trying to figure out if there are any commonalities when it occurs like if wifi or GPS are on and other things along those lines when the issue occurs. Was planning to use it as a base for my new Starship as my plan at least going foreword was I was going to leave any future MTDEV or CM7 releases for dsmryder & Bsydz to work out. Should probably also figure out things like who would take ownership of the threads and things like that if not just starting a new.

Help for testing is at your service. I will backup and flash this ASAP and report my results here. Enjoy your holiday. :) UPDATE: Testing has found touch screen selective responsiveness as a bug. The touch screen responds 95% of the time, but sometimes when sliding the notification bar down, it seems to loose track of one's finger and just slide down at a generic speed. I believe that this is related to the touch screen driver. More test results will trickle in as time passes. Camera seems to switch back and forth without force closing.

test rom a was flawless for me...fast wifi connect, fast internet..only flaw i found was i could not change phone ringtone...no matter what i selected it went back to a defualt...went back to 10/15...slow wi fi connect and seems phone now runs slower battery sucks now but it did not for me in rom a...test rom almost ran as fast as cm9 rom i used

This should be intresting later. I hope to do a proper take over when chairshot moves on. I know he will still be around, but it will probably be mostly me and BSidz. I hope I can find more time to do my research and make real improvements. I know I want to dig deep into the apps side of the ROMs.

Anyway, I would like to see our Wiki used to request ideas and issues. It's hard to keep track of them through the forums as the threads get flushed. Holla at yo boyz

Is the new kernel fully baked yet? (BSydz versions.) I see test ones earlier in the thread, but wasn't sure if things had gotten to a point where it could be flashed as a beta kernel versus an alpha. If they're included in these newer test ROMs, it would be nice to call it out.

No need to answer until after the holidays since I fully expect the devs to take a break and enjoy themselves! :)

I haven't gone through it myself yet. When I looked at the kernel we are shipping the ROM with I saw we were patched further along. I know some of the things have nothing to do with our phone, like lots of WiMax stuff. I hope to look into it and talk it over with BSidz and come to a concensus.

The test build I posted, that is an actual flashable zip file, is not alpha or beta at all, it is the current kernel with updates that I have used in my other kernels and have been pretty well vetted. It was to test if the missing camera calls were causing issues, since we already use the camera libs that go with this kernel. The zImage that I posted was the M410 kernel, reworked to use in the Triumph. I have used it with a build or two but I haven't had time to work out the kinks. Like getting all the proper drivers around from the variants and making the proper edits to the code. It may take a while, but I think that may be the way to go since we can't use the 2.6.35.7 kernel yet. I think it may have to do with the bootloader in our mobile partition, as far as using the actual Sharp 2.3.5 kernel. I did find some interesting info though, check out the attached pic I found while trying to find the actual Sharp 2.6.35.7 kernel source code. Looks like if we could find the 0017_3_18E nb0 then we could get GB on our phone, or at least use it for resources.

I've been working on kernels the last few days, I was trying to get a few versions of the MTDEV kernel around. One with all the stuff from the Sharp 2.6.35.7 kernel, and one with all the M410 kernel stuff, both to differing degrees. I just got wrapped up in a never ending error loop when I tried to add too much 2.6.35.7 stuff. I have it down to a couple errors now but I still haven't even got a zImage to build yet. The errors I am stuck at now are below but no matter what I do it just keeps changing the line number for the errors. Plus I didn't even change those files, but even using the files from the 2.6.35.7 kernel I get the same errors, it has to be a header somewhere I am not seeing.

This isn't a whole ROM, right, just some subset thereof, meant to be flashed over an extant ROM.

If I flash this on to my Triumph, which is currently running the MTDEV CM7 20121015 ROM, will it make things better or worse? I am having problems with the front-facing camera. And if I try it and it makes things worse, is there a way to undo it short of a full wipe and restore from a backup?

MTDEV team,

I am currently running MIUI v2.4.20. I decided to try it out just for fun. I am really liking it, but I kind of miss CM7. The only thing keeping me from switching back is that MIUI has the SMS popup window at the top of the screen on incoming messages. is there any way to incorporate this into this Rom? I have tried different apps for this, but they don't work as well as they do on this MIUI ROM. Just wondering if this was possible. Thanks guys!

I use handcent myself. Do you mean like the popup mini messenger that they use? I think go messenger can do it also.

flash it over, it should fix fcc camera issues.

If you have trouble and beleive it's the kernel, I would use WinRAR to pull the system.img out of the 10-15 ROM and replace the one in the test kernel that BSidz posted. That's all it's doing anyway, replacing the kernel image set.

Updated the Rom, about time.
Changes worth mentioning are,

For starters is now using Bsydz updated CM7 Kernel.

Boot sound and capability thanks to dsmryder. Going to post a version without the sound included for those who don't like to bring attention to their Triumph rebooting but both versions have the capability if the mp3 file is placed in the correct location.

Made updates and correction to GPS hardware updating AMSS version.

https://github.com/MTDEV-CM7/hardware/commit/e368175bf2a57639af6dbf35558bd8764d1756a7

Removed all previously added a/v files and added the Video & Audio files used in the Cherry variant.

https://github.com/MTDEV-CM7/vendor/commit/f9a16399f8809c133acf3c321333c66d5868e9df

There has also been other minor changes made since the 10/15 build like some restored BT permissions but I think the above just about covers any worth noting, that I can think of at the moment at least. Otherwise tired as all git so goodnight.
