yeah im running default and it seems great, though i did notice it lag once when opening astro, but it was only once throughout the whole day...
only difference between the tweaks are the dalvik.vm flags.. which play a bigger role than you think with performance. & sysctl.conf
Default is set to (v=f,o=v,u=y,m=y) + sysctl.conf
Verify=Full, DexOpt=Verified, Uni-Proccessor=Yes, Mapping=Yes
this uses more RAM but makes opening apps and over-all system very snappy and responsive by FULLY verifying the rom and optimizing the system apps etc..
Better Battery is set to (v=n,o=v) + sysctl.conf
Verify=No, DexOpt=Verified
this uses less RAM but over-time generates a lag when opening apps & Running the system (a simple cache & Dalvik cache wipe will smooth it back out no prob) but while saving more RAM also means your system background proccesses are 'less-often' there-for saving you "slightly" more battery
Performance is set same as default, but it is without the 'sysctl.conf' file & tweaks (slight kernel tweaks for battery life)
so honestly.. "like i said" the default setting are pretty much a 'happy medium' lol
