Root [ROM] Number Two (#2) v3.0.1 {ZVE}

LOL uuhhmmm LOL, nevermind. I flashed 2.0 anyway & that fixed the problem. LOL, guess my baby heard about the update & wanted it really bad lol. Women, sheeeeesss. LMAO

been getting reboot after reboot after reboot lately! and also not getting my texts till the phone reboots at some point and all the sudden i get a mass amount of texts that i was suppose to get A WHILE ago. i was thinking maybe its something with the boot.img but i dont know, i was thinking of going back to metro stock but just havent had the time and not sure if that will even work

Thats just a Metro problem. No a rom problem. Thats been a problem on every Metro phone Ive ever owned.

I too have been having a problem with the key board when I text. It's doesn't show what I'm typing. At first I thought it was the beta Swype then I switched to the keyboard and it was the same. But I haven't had any force closes yet.

same here...but its not that bad...they dont call it metro peice of shit for no reason lol

I know! And yet people have a hard time believing I don't get half of their ish sometimes. Like realllyy...?? You want to talk to Metro? lol

Sometimes I don't even receive calls. Welcome to Metro!

ok so i have a 3500mah extended battery....runnin #2 v2.0 and have setcpu down to 245 and i checked all my running services and nothing major.....and i get bout 7 hours max when just sits there not being used all day....background data is off and so is 4g.....what else can i do???? the stock battery only lasts bout 4 hours tops!!! very annoying!!

That's a little bizarre. Especially if you're getting only 7 hours with the extended battery..??
I managed to get 21 hours starting at 75% with my extended battery and that was with ridiculously high usage. I was doing all kinds of things on there - web browsing, games, texting, talking, you name it. Things I don't even normally do on there..

Maybe you got a bad download? Or maybe you need to reinstall the ROM again?

That just sounds really strange..

Same here I don't use any battery saving apps my brightness is up there under 4g for like 11 hours I managed about 20-25 hours on my extended with light use over a day easily

That's crazy. Not even joking, people I talk drop more calls than I do. I get all my texts and all my calls.

Remember that it could be your area that your in and the service might be that strong where your at. So therefore it's not Metro's fault of where you live :D

You couldn't pay half my bill for me to switch to a top 4 carrier.

Plus I pay $40 a month, can I REALLY expect the world and bark demands and say they suck? It's a prepaid service, y'all can leave whenever you want to. :P

So you FINALLY got your battery situated I see? :D

ldrifta! I cannot that you enough! My battery life owns! I've been using it for 16 hours, and I'm at 88%
Oh, I made a few kernel tweaks :3

I have full coverage every where.. I live in the Clearwater/st.pete Florida area..

but the problem I've been having that is annoying, and everyone seemed to ignore it.., was the reboot problem I've been having.. I shouldn't be having this problem. I'm on zvd. and #2 2.0

have you tried re-downloading the rom? it was uploaded 6 days ago and has 295 dl's.. so maybe you downloading while there was heavy traffic..? got a minor corruption during download..?

i would try re-downloading, then do a complete full wipe & flash, or you can try without wiping data.. could just be your device too... i haven't had a single reboot on zvd but like stated before i never have to download my roms because i make them right here lol so they always work for me :D

I wasn't bashing Metro I was being annoyed at people who don't believe me that I don't recieve some texts or calls or some of my texts don't even send out either. Yea you ar right it could be the area I am but it has been like this for three years and they have expanded their coverage... so sometimes I am not even all that sure if it is because of where I live? Either way I totally agree with you. I wouldn't leave Metro because of that. Just annoyed that no one believes I don't get their calls or texts sometimes... is all... :)

Lol naw. Still working on it unfortunately. Any tips :p?
I decided on not using the extended battery because protection is of more value to me. Lol, I get pretty decent battery life with my phone now I guess maybe 10 hours ish. Nothing like 20+ hours some of you are getting and still using your phone which I still am trying to figure out how I can get that lol. Juice Defender boosts me about 1.24... i don't know what else I could change....

Oh, I made a few kernel tweaks :3

You see! Howwww do you do that... and it always amazes me when they say it is stock battery! :what:
You should definitely share the lovin' and mention those tweaks lol.

care to share these tweaks? lol

Sampling Rate – An interval (in microseconds) at which the governor will poll for updates. When this happens, the governor will decide whether to scale the CPU up or down.
Up Threshold – Defines a percentage from 1% to 100%. When the CPU load reaches this point, the governor will scale the CPU up.
Down Threshold (conservative only) – Defines a percentage from 1% to 100%. When the CPU load reaches this point, the governor will scale the CPU down.
Ignore Nice Load – If this value is “1,” the system will ignore “Nice” processes when deciding to scale up or down.
Powersave Bias (ondemand only) – Setting this value higher will “bias” the governor toward lower frequencies.

What I did was crank up my powersave bias to 99 (haven't noticed any performance decrease at all)
set up threshold to 98. My vm heap is set to 32 (completely stable)
It was fairly low usage, but it's waaaay less battery drain than usual in idle.
And I set my i/o scheduler to noop.

are you manually adding these tweaks to the boot.img or are you using an app? if you have a boot.img with these settings than i seriously suggest posting it ;)

if it's an app or some other alternative than a guide would be equally great to have posted in the forums!! just a heads up ;) lol

All I did was crank up powersave bias and up threshhold in rom toolbox pro lol.
And can you please tell me how to edit the boot.img? I've been wondering how to edit it for awhile (I want to mess around with it and explore it lol)

i have a 1 word response to that question :D "lynix" lol get close to it!!!

it's actually not that hard, it's just setting up the build env takes forever... many variations of incompatablity :D lol but un-packing and re-packing the boot.img isn't really that hard.. i did it once like a year ago for G1 and it was as if i was reading chinese.. just couldn't make any sense of anything lol.. but that was before i had the little amount of experience i have now.. so it may be somewhat more understandable to me now.. just haven't tried lol

So I can decompile it in linux?
If so then I'll get to installing it :D
I recently wiped my drive (so I could put two ssd's in raid 0)
I had ubuntu installed, and i'm fairly good with it.
Is there a program for windows that I can use? I'd like to wait until Ubuntu 12.10 is released (3 months) to install it.

ehhh windows has limits w/ lynix codes.. but it "might" be possible... i know there a work-around for using dsixda's android kitchen on windows which is how i added the minfree tweaks to stock kernel "Speed Kernel"

but your best bet is just to install lynix lol, can set it up as dual-boot so you can always install newer lynix later.. odds are most things wont work on it right away anyway so if your gonna wait.. it'll be a loooooonnnng time lol

Dual boot yada yada lol I know the drill :D
I'll get right on to installing it lol.

would love to test your resluts in the end :D a good start would be comparing speed or stock kernel to the homeless kernel lol put out the first mega battery saver and you'll be a god!!! like skwisgarr (Metalocalypse) my fav show lol
