Root [ROM] OMGB v7 1/20/2011 Gingerbread 2.3

Truth is, i only do the flashing stuff when im home at night and a few drinks in. If it is even semi complicated and takes too long, i will have too many drinks and not be able to finish ahaha

Got bored and flashed this last night. Runs very smooth, I love the kernal that it comes with being able to have more tuning options within SetCPU at 1.113 I was able to hit 1700 on Quadrant. I really like the flash animation almost turning off an old TV look when you lock the screen . But honestly besides smoother scrolling I dont' see much of a diffrence between GB and Froyo . I would definetly keep this ROM if the camcorder worked though it's very smooth

I'm in the same boat as you rsarno. However, I wouldn't say I'm lazy, just not confident enough to be able to do everything I may need to do to make this work properly. So many work arounds, and so many things I don't know about. Scary.

agreed, could be frustrating if you just want things to work. I don't mind doing a little tinkering.

I don't mind doing a LITTLE tinkering, but there are so many posts saying do this, do that, we become confused and not sure what they are talking about. I'll be glad when I outgrow this noobie phase!!!

Good for you, beat me to it. I loved the TV turn off look myself. I might just flash it for that alone. But not today, too much going on and the roads are a mess around here. Maybe tomorrow I'll flash, configure and nandroid back to functionality. This way I'll have something to play with when I get bored. Any way to get that flash over to Froyo? That would be awesome.

I love this rom! Super fast for me. I installed the #21 kernel because i had such good battery life with it on 2.2. So far so good...

So at the moment, the only real feature missing is the video recording? The camera works fine?

I just flashed tonight, and I think this may be my first rom. Judging from what everyone has said, it's stable and fast. What are the main apps that you guys are finding issues with running this?

Video camera and notification leds are all that i know of. Most apps work fine. The only one i could not get to work was the Kindle app. They need to update the app to work on 2.3. So far it seems sweet!

I wouldn't recommend this as a first rom because there is some work arounds that have to be done to get it working properly... But if you are confident in what you are doing and have a good nandroid, go for it.

Edit: just reread your post, see you already flashed it.... I haven't found any apps that don't work now that I flashed gapps.

One final (probably not) question before I flash this ROM. In order for me to get the zip file on my sd card, it says I have to format the card. Won't this delete everything on it? I'm not sure what needs to be on it. If I had to restore my Nandroid backup, will that restore everything on the sd card too? Any help, please?

I'm assuming your rooted and already went through the initial process of formatting your SD card to FAT32 so your golden.

Make a backup of your SD card always. I do at least every other month.

Nandroids do not restore everything on your SD card.

Just drop the zip on your card, wipe FULLY, and flash.

Got questions? ask away!

It doesnt take that long... its just flashing the ROM and than flashing the apps and data fixes, its really not a hassle. That and you get a great rom. On average my phone comes of the charger at about 10am and by 10pm my battery is at anywhere from 60-70 percent still. I have a 1600 mah battery however and im on wifi a lot. But this ROM IS stable and worth the try. Its my daily driver.

I believe I am stuck in a bootloop. All I have done is loaded the zip file onto my SD card. After that, none of my apps would work. Couldn't get into anything-ROM manager, quick boot, etc. hit the power button and now it says First Boot and goes from DROID to the red eye and back. Been about 10 minutes. ????

I'm not 100% on this but take it FWIW. I would pop that card out, put it into my computer and then copy everything to a folder on the computer. Reformat the card, put a rom zip on the root and then flash the new rom. After you get that running you can mount the card and see what you want to copy back.

I saw your post on XDA. Ouch, you better head out to a store and pick up a 16GB or 8GB card. Not too expensive. I'd try a reformat a couple of times, not a quick one but full. Good luck.

I have an 8gb card here. Is it safe to try to mount it in the phone and format it there, or should it be formatted on the computer? Is it ok to format them through a USB cable?

After trying everything at this point, including some crab legs, I have made some progress. I formatted a new card and loaded the ROM on it. It is recognized in recovery. I have done a full wipe a cache wipe, and a dalvik wipe and reflashed. Keep getting stuck at the white HTC Incredible screen. Have read the posts and seen what others are doing, but it is not working for me.
