Root [ROM][PORT][FINAL] MIUI 1.11.25-Triumph | 113011-2 (GB 2.3.7 based)

I figured out my own problem!!!

I did an adb logcat and watched while I stayed off wifi and sent myself a message and it went through fine. Then I connected to wifi and the logcat started talking about something to do with wpa_suplement, and I sent myself another message and it wouldn't go through. Then I disconnected but it still wouldn't come through. So I sent one more message and the new message plus the one before both came at the same time!

So I guess I'm staying off wifi lol

Dramatically better battery life, customization via themes, and a better overall experience. If there's something you can't live without in the MIUI port then obviously it's not for you.

Isaac chose to share his personal port of MIUI with the rest of us as-is, and if folks can't handle something not working they're free to go fix it themselves.

Guys - Im not trying to insult anybody - I promise. :o

I realize the work involved but did not understand the excitement over a partially complete release.

Im an Android newb so did not think it would hurt to ask "why"...:)

Carry on...

i will tell ya, im so freaken in love with this rom; plus the themes are
bad ass! im running this as my daily driver and all seems to be near
perfect. i love how the themes apply changes to all of the base programs,
it really is cool to have a matching dialer and messaging app. that alone
makes me love the rom. (im a sucker for customizing lol).

did any one ever figue out the random loss of data connection issue
on CM7? i seem to be having this issue on this rom as well after its
in lockscreen for over 30 min. any one have any tips on how i can
get around this? other than that... all is golden.

I was able to get around the data drop problem by installing "2x battery saver" it shuts off data when the screen locks and wakes up when unlocked... much like juice defender would do. I tried juice defender but it didn't want to turn data back on. 2x battery works like a charm and my 3g is always good to go.

I checked the cm7 thread and it looks like other peeps are using
"connection checker" from the app market to counteract this issue.
Ive been running it an so far it seems to work perfect. I really like the
interface and it also keeps a log to show when the connection droped
and when it had to reconnect. the pro version also does a notification
when it re-establishes connection.

im a very happy guy now and lovin this rom :D

Preface: Super ROM! nothing will stop me from using this as my "daily" for at least the near foreseeable future. This is a very nice port, all hail isaac!
On to Wi-Fi......No luck with connection checker here.....
So my newest solution was just to use all three extra batteries and turn the screen timeout to always on. just letting the screen stay on as many hours as i was home for. That was eating through batteries like crazy but that seems to be the only working option so far.
Connection checker, wifi fixer, increase/decrese wifi scan interval, and a few other trials, didn't seem to produce any results under rigorous testing. Some can handle the device being locked once or twice but then they fail as well, and nothing seems to pass the timeout test, where you just let the screen timeout and lock by itself; that always produces a lockup with my device.
Just some recent results over this way in MIUI land. (every program was tetsed with EVERY combination of system wi-fi settings and in app wi-fi settings respectively.)

No beans here....... But still Loving MIUI!!!!

I def get you isaak. I think that it might not be so much reporting bugs to you but users discussing the rom and the different bugs we encounter so we can help each other.

@everyone:

Like I already stated, I will put up a new build with the WIFI fix. I also have a new MIUI Camera app that has the orientation correct when the phone is held upright (it's still upside down during landscape mode). I'm now using TG's camera libs to fix the upside-down issue during actual usage (Google Talk, Skype, etc.)

Believe it or not, we devs have lives of our own. I know some of you would like to believe we're sitting at our comps 24/7 working on these (free) ROMs, but we're not. If you're impatient, you can apply the WIFI fix yourself. Use an editor to open up /system/etc/firmware/wlan/qcom_cfg.ini and change this line (https://github.com/ikarosdev/androi...read/files/etc/firmware/wlan/qcom_cfg.ini#L17) to 2. The link I posted has the fix already applied.

@idbl_fanatic:

Read the posts on the front page. They're there for a reason. If you don't like the launcher, change it. This is still Android.

I thought I clearly stated this in my first post: I'm not looking for bugs reports. I have neither the time nor the desire to try and reverse engineer a prebuilt ROM. It's a miracle most things are working to begin with.

However, during my usage, there are things that I find annoying. I will try and fix the things that annoy me and if I do, I'll share them with you. For the most part, what I've put up satisfies me so far.

I have not seen many if any "complaints" on this thread other than the occasional member that can't bring themselves to read the thread or search.

Nice rom by the way.

yea, i agree. i thought i had it solved but you are right, the
connection check apps are a no go. it worked for half the day
but now im having data connection issues again.

im also going to set the screen time out to always on as well.
i WILL use this as my daily rom and nothing will stop me hahahaha...
looks like we are gonna need to buy some stock in the cell phone
battery industry lol.

So I know we're not really dealing with issues and bugs but I've got a pretty sucky one. Twice now, at about the 8hr mark of running MIUI, not only do I lose data, but service completely. A reboot is required to restore it. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

It's too bad really because mugen battery canceled their Triumph battery project.

LOL, sounds like a lot of trouble ;). Its not too hard to apply the WIFI fix yourself.

Unzip the flash-able MIUI rom
Explore the innards of what you unzipped- go to /system/etc/firmware/wlan/qcom_cfg.ini
Open it up with wordpad or your favorite text editing application
On line 18, change gEnableSuspend=3 to gEnableSuspend=2
Rezip up META-INF, system, and boot.img so that they are at the root of your zip (you don't want an extra folder at the root)
Backup, format system, wipe cache and flash the new .zip

Edit: Here to save you all the trouble, I uploaded a fixed rom: miuiandroid_Triumph-1.9.30-10032011-2.zip

Oh and a word of warning. I tried editing a theme and downloading a boot animation. when I rebooted I ended in a bootloop. Not sure if it was something else I had done but had to restore a backup to make the phone work.

Is there any way to edit the ini from within the phone? Still Noob over here, thanks.

great rom by the way. So far I don't see any reason for me not to leave it as my daily.

It might be, but I tried and I couldn't find a way. It won't let you save over that .ini file.

Isaac, if they do release the source code, will you be able to include overclocking support? That would be great! That's the only thing I miss from CM7 :P

So wtf is the point of this thread other than to discuss this rom? I am glad you are doing this for fun and have no intention of fixing anything that doesn't make you happy or whatever. I have not seen many if any "complaints" on this thread other than the occasional douchebag that can't bring themselves to read the thread or search. As for the person "COMPLAINING" about voice mail (that would be me I guess since I haven't seen any other references to it other than my post. I took care of it myself already.)

You know, the phone you are doing this for fun on was purchased thru donations from a bunch of folks (me included, I was an original donor) so if you don't like my "complaints" you can just send me my money back. stop being an ass and reaming the community here and get a thicker skin.

Nice rom by the way.

First off, this was not me being an ass. If I wanted to be an ass I could of easily not posted this. This was me explicitly re-stating my intentions of this ROM so there was no misunderstanding. If it were possible, I wouldn't of even made a thread and I would of posted the ROM available through ROM Manager (this avenue has not been opened to us).

Secondly, I wasn't trying to offend anyone (you, in this case) when I stated that someone was complaining about the voicemail issue. I was merely stating the obvious. You complained it wasn't working and I offered the only solution I know of (and added it to the tips so others could fix this). I tried to fix it via the build.prop, but to no avail. If I was trying to snide about your complaint, I could of easily used more colorful words. It's funny you say that I need thicker skin. My post had no bad intentions, but I can't say the same for yours. :(

Third, as I already stated, if you feel your donation was put to misuse, I will gladly refund you your money. I thought I was showing my gratitude by offering whatever I could back to the community. You claim I'm "reaming" the community, but I'm not sure where you get off saying that. If I want to set down my priorities with my projects, I'm free to do so. When you make a ROM or whatever, you can set yours.

Overclocking is possible right now. I just don't want to do it. Try running the X6 MIUI port (it's clocked at 1.5 GHz), the phone gets hot over time. I don't want to run the risk of damaging my phone or yours.

However, if you want I can create a thread on building the kernel. The kernel I have up on Github has the OC code in it and will work just fine on MIUI.

I did it with ES File Explorer.

You edited the actual .ini file that the phone was using? I was using ES File Explorer and it would never let me replace that file.
Or are you saying you edited the flashable .zip (by unzipping it, changing and rezipping etc.)?

I did it in ES File Explorer as well. You need to go into settings and enable Root Explorer and Mount File System.

+1
I was deemed as "insulting" just because I wondered what all the fuss was about...;)

Ah, but I said (quasi) insulting. ;)

Truthfully, there isn't anything wrong with the stock ROM. If there was, Moto (or whoever) would have everyone up their ass right now. They paid a lot of people to make sure everything was working. We indie devs are few (per each Android device) and we try our best to recapture the same usability found in the stock ROM, but give you guys something new to play with. So, yes, to a person who would like everything working, this wouldn't be an upgrade. Some things are downright frustrating to end-users and devs alike.

If the source were available for MIUI, things would be different. Just look at all the progress that has been made with CM7! Admittedly, it will be impossible to fix some things in MIUI. If, however, the real MIUI devs pass out a fix, then we'll get that too. We're basically at their mercy unless they decide to give back.
