Root [ROM][PORT] Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph (Updated: 12/16/12)

I am replying while tethered with bluetooth now, using win 7. You can use Wireless Tether for Root Users, it is free in the google play store. I tried tether blu, it would pair but no pages would load. I have never been able to set up an actual PAN with android, but I have never had a legit gingerbread or higher phone either. I know android has issues with PAN, but I'm not an IT guy, or use it enough to really know.

Hi BSydz,

Can you let me know which version of Wireless Tether for Root Users worked for you? I just tried with both 3.1 BETA14 and v2.0.7.

3.1 BETA14 for some reason did not give me the bluetooth tethering option in the settings menu. v.2.0.7 let me pair, but I was unable to get any pages to load.

Here's more info on my device:
- Ver6 using the dirty install method
- BT tethering previously worked with a GB ROM.
- I'll try using BT headset later today to verify that any BT device works.
- I tried pairing both my ipod touch and my macbook pro to the triumph.

I am uploading a Prep ROM to fix the network location and *86 issue. I have stripped the Stock ROM down to 62MB and only what is needed to activate, and fix those 2 issues. Also, it will not wipe everything anymore, just system. For now this has to be done from a fresh install. I have not been successful in flashing this over Ver6 then back, to get the network location fixed but it should fix the *86 issue. I have some ideas but nothing I have done yet has fixed the network location issue with just the Sharp ROM. I'll get it though.

This may help, but any kind of tethering for me has always been painfully slow, I couldn't wait to switch back to my 20Mbit internet after I posted that. I just used the one I linked to. I don't have any iStuff so I can't help you with that. Also, this is froyo and some features work better in GB. Hope you get it worked out.

Tmpullen, thanks I have that kernal. How do you access the menu to overclock? I'm use to cm7 where the option was in the shut down menu.

Does keeping wifi on prevent deep sleep on this rom? And if it doesn't, is there any difference in battery life if you just leave wifi on all the time?

Good question. My CPU isn't going into deep sleep and I do keep WI-FI on. So I ran a short test. I manually turned off WI-FI and let it sit about 20 minutes. After turning it back on and checking with CPU Spy still no deep sleep. More testing is in order.

My battery drains at the rate of about %5 per hour (according to Juice Plotter). I leave WI-FI on but I also use Juice Defender.
One great thing about this ROM is that Juice Defender works very well (as do most apps). That is that Juice Defender will turn WI-FI off when not in use but it turns it back on very quickly so it seems to the user that WI-FI was never turned off.

This ROM should deep sleep fine, leaving anything on will draw more power, but I never turn wifi off myself and still get great battery life.

Hey my stuff works great! To get the hotspot working, I had to clear the data on certain apps. All is well that ends well

I've found that after running my music app (Poweramp), or using wifi (on for a few minutes, then turned off), I need to do a complete restart to enable deep sleep again, otherwise it will just bleed battery power. And yes, BT and wifi prevent deep sleep.

EDIT: This was the same on CM7 as well.

Ok so I found a fix for network location. It is almost stupid. After hours of testing all types of stuff, all I did was replace 2 files in the data partition: packages.list and packages.xml. I now have an idea as to what needs to be done. I will make a flashable zip for everybody, for now.

I cleared the bottom two apps, and it worked. Only temporarily though.

I have been running this ROM for a couple of days now. So far it has being great.

In regards to battery:
-2% drop every hour when in deep sleep.
-A little bit better battery than CM7 ROMS. MIUI still had the best battery life IMO.

Unless I am missing something both cannot be true.

I'll have to do some testing. I've been running dirty installs most of the time and there are still some people on other versions and kernels. My battery life has been great, so I can only assume it was deep sleeping. Now that I have a dev phone I can keep my phone running and test some stuff out. It is great not having to worry about having to back up every time.

It's that way with every ROM, phone won't enter deep sleep when charging or if BT or wifi are on. It would still be possible to achieve good battery life without deep sleep. I use CPU spy religiously to get a feel of what my processor is doing at all times, but i'm not sure why it wont deep sleep AFTER turning wifi or my music player off. Like I said though it's not specific to this ROM only. And I almost forgot to say thank you to BSydz for letting me experience my Triumph the way it was SUPPOSED to be!

What I have heard is that they wouldn't go into deep sleep even if Juice Defender turned off WI-FI and Bluetooth but would if they were turned off manually. I read some explanation of this but I don't remember what it was.
