Root [ROM][PORT] Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph (Updated: 12/16/12)

Further input on location issues. After flashing gps fix, Beautiful widgets still doesn't locate. Quite frequently is resizes the date (4x2 format) when using gps, and other apps. Did that before the fix though. Gas buddy and maps will not locate without activating gps. All other location apps like weatherbug, realtor.com and cardiotrainer works well. Shazam force closes at startup. Tried uninstall/reinstall with no luck. Worked on previous versions. Using Go launcher ex for it's extensive customization. Was getting buggy on CM7.

Flashed 2.2 hybrid kernal last night and it improved speed on opening apps and internet speed a little. Other than that it is a superb rom. Use it as my daily. Gps navigation is outstanding which was the main reason I switched from CM7. Love the sharp launcher because it is very clear and fast. Go launcher ex with the GB theme from the market is not as clear as sharp launcher. Great job Bsydz, you rock in the Triumph world for us that can't afford the Evo right now.

Beautiful widgets works for me. Try the faster GPS app and set your country

BSydz, I am loving this rom. It is crazy how much better GPS is on it. I'm going to be rolling with it now.
Digging around and comparing to stock, I found a (less) dirty way of fixing the voicemail issue. You can probably find a better fix from it:

-Open up /data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs/com.android.phone_preferences.xml with es file explorer or equivalent.
-Add the property: "<string name="vm_number_key_cdma">##########</string>" where ########## is your 10 digit phone number (I added it right above the vm_id_key property)
-Save and exit.

Note: I have found that ES File explorer is quirky when editing files on the internal memory so you can either copy it to the sd card first and edit it there and copy back and replace the original or edit it in place, save it, go back and delete the com.android.phone_preferences.xml.bak file it creates and make sure the changes really got saved.

Ah- my question is answered!

So, I made some progress on the status bar widgets but hit a small road block named services.jar. I attached a screenshot of the status bar but it only has the space for the widgets, they don't show up. I'll have to clean some things up, but this will be nice to have.

Worked like a charm! How did you get ES File Explorer into the root directory? I had to use Root Explorer because ES File Expoler wouldn't go there.

In ES Explorer's Settings>Root Explorer>Mount File System

I am replying while tethered with bluetooth now, using win 7. You can use Wireless Tether for Root Users, it is free in the google play store. I tried tether blu, it would pair but no pages would load. I have never been able to set up an actual PAN with android, but I have never had a legit gingerbread or higher phone either. I know android has issues with PAN, but I'm not an IT guy, or use it enough to really know.

Why Bluetooth tether if I can WI-FI tether? What are the advantages?

Udpate on network location. So, I have been testing all day and all types of configurations. A dirty install is required, for now. I'll edit the OP and try to get it figured out. I think it may be a framework issue, since Gapps didn't come in the nb0.

Click on the first star icon and then the phone icon (/). It will take you to the root folder.

I know I've seen it, but can't find it, has any one got the WiFi hot spot to work ?

Yeah, wasted this morning at work trying to get it to work. Clicking on the built-in "Portable WLAN hotspot" under "Tethering & portable hotspot" worked, but I couldn't get beyond Google and Email until I set the laptop's MTU to 1472 (google it - seems to be some odd built-in limit with the Triumph). The network shows as "AndroidAP." Still, it was painfully slow.

Seems to be better at home now (have better reception here) where I don't need it. I'm on it now.

Would love to hear from others a better way of doing it.

Installed the OC Kernel. Set it to 1.5GHz.
This ROM was fast. With the OC kernel is impressive. Everything is so fluid and so smooth. It shows had badly Motorola Developers suck when they release the MT.

With good software/rom like the Sharp ROM. This phone is very decent.

It really does feel like a newew more powerful phone. Simply Amazing what good software can do.

I agree wholeheartedly but when I tried the OC kernel, my wifi wouldn't work, kept giving me 'error'. I'd love to overclock this ROM though.

The only rom that I know of that doesn't have this limitation is MUIU. You can tell by using terminal emulator (android market) and run

/system/xbin/ifconfig

the result will show you that rmnet0 has the MTU set to 1472.

Most of the ROM has this. Only one MUIU rom has the MTU set to 1500. I believe it's a kernel dependency.

I thought I could tether with whyzor'a cm 7,but maybe not. Could have been USB

Dirty install from what starting point? And, thanks for continuing to work on this Network Location issue.

I will ask b_randon for permission to post a modified Stock ROM for everybody that doesn't want to start fresh for the network location fix. I always say to start fresh with the stock ROM cause it wipes everything. I have a prep ROM made up for the *86 issue I just have to make sure it will work for the network location issue before I put it up. I stripped it down to 60MB, so I have to see if what I need is still there. I threw my back out yesterday so I might be immobilized for a few days. Which may give me a little more time, than I wanted, to work on getting some things worked out.

Take three Tylenol, 3 Aspirin, 3 Aleve and 1 double shot of whisky. Sit 30 minutes in the hottest bath you can stand. Each night before going to bed.

Mi WI-FI works fine on the "Hybrid Kernel for Rev 2.2.zip" kernel. Maybe if you try it again the next time you flash a new ROM it will start working. On the other hand my Triumph is unstable at anything above 1.4 ghz and I really don't think it "feels" faster when it's OC'd so your not missing much.

Are you trying to kill our best genius?

It works for me. I am a carpenter and frequently have sore muscles. If it gets bad I do the hot bath thing and I feel great in the morning. I ran it past my doctor once and he didn't bat an eye, just said sounds like that might work.

Installed this. Very nice but yet to test gps.

I do have, a big issue but its a froyo thing I guess. Stock Triumph had it as well. Its a bug the Moto Triumph has when you quickly turn the phone screen off and on. You'll see some weird glitchy lines pop up for a sec and then go away. It pisses me off since it looks like the screen is messed up.

I'm guessing its a software/rom issue because MIUI took it out completely. I never saw it under that rom, as soon as I installed this, it came back. I hope installing a different launcher fixes this.

Can't duplicate this on my phone.
Try this workaround. When you turn off the phone then back on quickly, before turning the phone back on close both eyes for 5 seconds. The problem should go away. :D

But seriously, curious that it doesn't happen on my phone.

I think MIUI doesn't have the same video drivers enabled that is why the screen glitch is present. Some HQ games won't play on MIUI.

I have that glitch too. Doesn't bother me now. Guess that I got used to it
So I started messing with my dev phone today and it has the same problem. I had never seen this before, so now I know what you guys are talking about. That is annoying. I think it may be hardware related, but I will see if MIUI does fix it or not, when I have some time.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I do construction also, a few years back I got my sciatic nerve in a bind while I was shoveling my grandmas driveway. I was down for about 6 months, it could stop a sneeze mid way. So while I was injured I started a home business and pick up work when it comes around. The last 3 side jobs have been over and hour away, long hours and heavy grunt work. Then I throw my back out cleaning my desk and sorting papers, go figure. I think my heavy pouches on this last job tightened up my back and the 2 hour drive didn't help. Again, thanks for the kind words.

OK the prep ROM is 60 MB and does fix the network location issue and the *86 issue, I am testing to make sure it will work for those that are already setup and want to fix it. Just waiting for a response from b_randon, so I can post it.

EDIT: Shoulda looked at his OP, about to post it now. :banghead:
