Root [ROM][PORT] Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph (Updated: 12/16/12)

I'm using your latest version(v7).I will try a reboot and wipe the cache.I also did not tweak anything other than your recommendation for the voicemail fix. Thanks for that quick reply.
Well, then I would wipe the caches and reflash the ROM, nothing should change, and it is your best bet if you don't want to start all over. But try just doing the wipe first let me know how it goes.

I sure will.
P.S. do you recommend this or the u9000 rom?any pros and cons to share?
To be honest, I have only used the U9000 ROM for about 5 days total. They are very similar but I like the Sharp launcher personally. I knew what to do and what not to do from the Sharp ROM so I am very confident that everything is working right, but since this came out before it, only the few people that don't like the launcher have been running with U9000. If you read that thread, it is much shorter, but there really haven't been any issues reported.

I am still unable to get wireless tether to work.I have tried everything you recommended but to no avail will it work.Thnaks again for all of your help and time.

... it shows a trash size of 1.8gb, with it containing the name of video/photos/mp3s files downloaded and deleted previously.
As BSydz said, that is the Windows Recycle Bin, and it really is there. You should be able to delete it, and all should be fine. You might have to show hidden files in your file manager (I use the free ES File Explorer on my phone).

Or access the card in Windows again, and empty the recycle bin for that card/drive, and then disable the recycle bin for that card/drive.

Or you could follow the steps BSydz posted: backup the card, reformat it in the phone, and then put the files back, which is a good idea to do every once in a while anyway. But then you still likely want to disable the recycle bin for that card/drive.

So, no tether or no tether settings? You could do a backup and do a fresh install, to see if it was an install issue. Plus, if it was, you can always do an advanced restore and just restore data from the nandroid.

I did everything my friend, even reinstalling the rom after wiping caches& dalvik. The 3g icon appears to send/receive data and my wifes phone( a triumph too)is connecting but it is not loading web pages on her phone or my computer.I got your voice mail fix to work but Im not getting this to work.No problem I wouldn't be tethering much, if at all.I just wanted to see if it worked.I was more concerned with the gps fix.Thanks.

OK, one last try, flash the new kernel and set the MTU and that should work. Go to SpeedGuide.net :: Broadband Tweaks, Tools and Info with wifi off and see what your MTU is. That is the key to tether. Run the command in terminal to be sure there was not an error. The script may not work with the original kernel cause it has the MTU limit set to 1472.

OK, so I had to test it out to make certain. I am on my computer tethered right now, and I have to say it started out almost unbearably slow, but it is actually quite fast. It must be the new kernel and the script, cause I am not having any issues. I also am tethering my dev phone with U9000 on it at the same time, it's messed up, the tethered phone is faster than the phone directly connected to the network.:D

@Gvfjr

Are you trying to use the Wireless Tether app, or the Sharp ROM's built in wi-fi hotspot? I never got the Wireless Tether app to work on the stock ROM myself, but Barnacle did.

If you are using the wi-fi hotspot, try going to a google operated site. Most of their sites use a smaller MTU size by default, and should work despite the phone having a non standard MTU set in it by default. If Google works, but nothing else, it is the MTU setting. That is the same thing I've been trying to iron out myself, but I haven't gotten around to trying the new kernel yet.

I'll have to try this on my next day off. Isn't there a boot script somewhere the command could be put in to automate it? It seems there should be, but I wouldn't know where in Linux/Android.

Oh, just download the kernel and throw it on, it only takes 30 seconds more than a reboot. ;) I am looking in to making the script run automatically but haven't found out how yet. I don't know jack about scripts.

Well, you talked me into it, and it works... sort of.My Galaxy Tab is currently tethered, but none of the browsers will load anything. The Facebook app and GMail both did though. I'm not sure what to make of that. I tried to tether my laptop too, but it wouldn't connect until I turned the wifi off on my Tab. (Does anyone know if the Sharp wifi hot spot supports more than one user? Maybe not.) Then my laptop dropped the connection and reconnected several times before the connection stabilized. I opened a few web pages and they loaded, but slowly.

My home router is still on. Interference? I'll have to test that later.

I thought I may have changed the MTU on my laptop at one time, but I checked it, and I think it is reporting 1500 but I'm tired and need to sleep before work. I'll double check, and turn off the router, maybe tomorrow.

My Tab is still tethered and apps are working, but for some reason the browsers aren't except google sites... ????

That is the MTU, now that you have the new kernel you can set the MTU above 1472, I recommend 1500, as that is what most wifi devices are set to. Like I said, before you try to tether go to this page on 3G and you will know if your MTU is set right, if you are on wifi it will be 1500. If it says 1472, then you have to set it to 1500, either in a terminal or with the script using a root explorer, from a root access area of the phone. That way the script will have root access, cause I couldn't get it to work from the SD card. The terminal option will let you know if you got an error while the script may not. I have noticed that the MTU will revert over time, I just don't know how long that is. The MTU will reset when the phone is rebooted also.

Sorry for the long answer, I figured I would put this out there for anybody that may be interested.

I tried using the built in app since,if i remember correctly no tethering(wifi) apps work on this phone.BSydz;i tried the mtu download and i didnt have the init.d folder.i created one but was still unable to get it to work even after unzipping the file once placed in the folder.once again no problem if i can't get it to work but if you'd like to help others i'll keep a close eye on this thread.

Just an update. After the mess I had trying to stream Pandora as I usually do when I'm in the car I reverted back to the stock ROM -- zero issues, same route. Prior trip constant buffering and dropped music, a song would start then all of a sudden it would switch to another one as if it restarted. Tonight I took the same route and was able to stream the high quality feed with not an interruption or drop out.

I have no idea why, I may try and reload v7, I only installed 2 or 3 apps so wiping and reloading would not be too bad.

I used the included wifi hotspot no other apps for tether.

I just tried ES file explorer but it won't run scripts, or I am missing a setting, also wouldn't run with Astro. I have run it with Root Browser Lite, and Rom Toolbox Lite, but had to take the space out of the file name. I know it works with Root Explorer. Any of the script apps will run it. These are just a couple tests I did.

The terminal emulator way is the for sure way to do it.
In terminal emulator:
Type su
Hit enter
Allow root access
Type "ifconfig rmnet0 mtu 1500" without the quotes
Hit enter
You're done

I did this (terminal emulator method) exactly and got the results listed above. I didn't try going to the web site and testing what the MTU was set to though. Like I said, the laptop worked... SLOWLY... but the Tab only worked with the apps... not even google worked in any of my browsers. I'll have to go to that web site on my Tab... It may just be set a little higher than 1500.

I tested the MTU on the Tab on wifi and the phone on 3g. Both came up 1500. I'll have to test with my home router off after work.
Sorry about the mix up, I would think that any root explorer would be able to run scripts but apparently not. I know for a fact it works both ways, script or terminal, and at least a few people have got it working. Thanks for sticking in there and trying, and giving feedback. it is sure to help somebody along the way. I also don't know if the script will work when 3G is diabled, like when wifi is on. Good luck!
Can I use a custom kernel with this rom?
You can't use Triumph custom kernels but there are a couple kernels in the second post you can use.

I have the same problem while driving. I believe you will get different results from day to day because Sprint treats Virgin Mobile customers like second class citizens and give their customers priority network access and speed. We get the leftovers. But, I wont complain for $40 a month. My daughter pays double for less with AT&T.

At the moment I'm reinstalling v7. Planning on being on the road a bit tonight, so it'a a prime chance to try a clean install out.

Buzzcon, not sure I buy into your theory. Been using VM for 2 years, used Pandora a lot on the road during those two years and only time I've had any issues was with this ROM. I was on CM7 for a while, no issues with streaming. I guess well see what tonight's road trip brings....

Edit: once again I did a complete reset, wipe cache, and wiped dalvic cache, yet my current wallpapaer came up along with my home wifi settings....
