Root [ROM][PORT] Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph (Updated: 12/16/12)

I mean how can you find front camera mode.
And also how can you remove camera off landscape mode
Thanks, Devs for y'all hard work

Edit: once again I did a complete reset, wipe cache, and wiped dalvic cache, yet my current wallpapaer came up along with my home wifi settings....
Which recovery are you using? Just to clarify, when you say complete reset, did you do a factory reset? I have never seen anything carry over but I have only used cwm 5.0.2.6 or 5.0.2.7, other than trying others out. It has nothing to do with the ROM, cause that info is obviously not in the ROM. It has got to be either your recovery or your phone. I'm gonna say you should try a different recovery. Hope this helps, get back to me and let me know what happens, cause if data is still on the phone it may be messing with the functionality.
Everything works fine, but there is no front camera.
I try everything to active my front camera.
Rear camera works fine, but only landscape mode.
Also there is no camera portrait mode.
Thanks, Devs for y'all hard work
You need to clarify if the app is force closing, you are getting an error when you try to switch, or you can't find the option. If you hit menu in the camera the option for the FFC is right there. Let me know what is going on so I can help you better. Also I never knew there was a camera portrait mode unless it is in one of the CMs.

Buzzcon, not sure I buy into your theory. Been using VM for 2 years, used Pandora a lot on the road during those two years and only time I've had any issues was with this ROM. I was on CM7 for a while, no issues with streaming. I guess well see what tonight's road trip brings....

And I don't have anything as far as evidence to back my statement up either. I remember reading something to that effect in a blog or article somewhere.

Like I said, I enjoy my Triumph either way, no big deal :D

Its not that vm limits us to leftovers...its the inability to roam that causes choppiness during travel...your device is constantly trying to latch onto the strongest signal towers and is being denied by anything non-sprint.

My bad I wasn't clear.

For ff camera hit your menu key(triumph soft key) and switch to ffc is on the left in pop up options.as for switching from landscape...i will look into it...i use camera zoom fx so im newish to the sharp cam.

It appears this cam doesn't support portrait at all...check market...may be able to find different cam that has portrait mode and can access ffc.

If you download b_randons stock de-odex rom and extract all in root explorer you can then copy the camera.apk file into your own system/apps folder grant full perms and reboot it works perfectly portrait mode supported and switches to ffc with no problems.

I have two major problems with this rom:

1. Although my phone will initially go into deep sleep, after a period of use, it'll stop going into deep sleep. I've verified this using cpu spy. This happens with any wifi sleep policy and even with wifi off. Bluetooth is always off for me.

2. Charging off of USB is painfully slow. Sometimes, it doesn't even charge. Using MUI, I don't have this charging issue. Using non-motorola chargers is even worse using this rom. I haven't tried motorola chargers. From my understanding, android phones have three charging modes set by the rom: USB/brand-AC/non-brand-AC. I remember on the Optimus V, one rom dev changed the charging rates after he realized he set them too low for USB. That's how I found out about the charging modes. I can't seem to find the thread right now, but I'll update when I do.

Combining problems 1 & 2, this rom has become unusable for me. I was charging my phone last night off of my laptop. By 4am the phone was only at 80% full. The computer was accidentally put to sleep, and by 9am when I woke up, the phone was completely dead.

1-Charge the phone with your computer wouldn't give you a full charge even using an amount of hours
2-Some app influence directly to your phone policy
3-may be kernel or framework policy set in low level

I may have been running the script with the wifi on. I made a point to turn wifi off first, and now my laptop is working. Have to get the kids to school... will test my Tab when I get home.

SUCCESS! I'm posting now from my wifi tethered Samsung Galaxy Tab! I did turn off the router in the house to make sure it wasn't interference, but I think the key I was missing was running the script while the phone was on 3g and NOT wifi. The command didn't stick while on wifi. Right now, my laptop and Galaxy Tab ar both tethered, so multiple devices are supported. WOOHOO!

The speed seems not too bad, at least a fast as the @*%# AT&T public wifi dsl lite at work. It's definitely a LOT better than NO conection when I'm away from wifi and I'd like to get on the net, for sure.

Now, about getting it to work automatically... Does anyone know if the app that starts the wifi hot spot has an init script? That seems to be the ideal place for the command to be added to me. Right after it issues the command to turn off wifi if it is on, and before turning it back on for the hot spot. I wish I knew a lot more about Linux/Android. I sure would like to be able to help with this effort!

I'm using cwm 5.0.2.6. I do a reset wipe user data, the wipe cache, then wipe dalvic cache -- all three. I even went to the stock and detoxed ROM, the crappy red wall paper came up, then wipe and rest, wipe, wipe again and wallpaper came up as did my wifi settings. very strange.

As to dropouts with the data stream I was off to a rocky start last night, was ready to pull off the road and reboot into another ROM, but things did improve. On the way back, about an hour on the road only 1 or two quick blips, so overall substantially better than in the past. I'm wondering is the lack of total reset is creating a few problems, very weird.

BTW you list "the mitten' as your location, MI by any chance? My usual routes are Flushing to Lansing - Grand Rapids, or down to Clarkston, both routes have good cell coverage.

I would suggest going to mounts and storage and formating data or make the switch to 5.0.2.7. The left over data can definitely effect the functionality, the dirty install is a good example how leftover data can help and possibly hurt things. I would also suggest the new kernel cause it seems to have lower ping times and just that alone can have a major effect on streaming. Though it is probably the leftover data.

Yeah I live in Lansing, and there is definitely a dead spot where I am cause I have done tests with 2 spint phones, an HTC EVO 4G and Galaxy II, side by side and only the Galaxy beat my Triumph, but that was only by a second or so. At my friends house just on the outskirts I can pull 800kbps easy but at home it is 92-300kbps usually.

This is by far THE best rom for me. The battery life on this rom is simply AMAZING. I use my mobile frequently and I had to charge every 6 hours but not anymore....m at 40 percent battery life and I havent charged for a day and 10 hours. Going to work today...i used the gps and the waze app and the lock was instantaneous. No issues when I tried gps this morning. I noticed a small glitch when I placed my headset and received a call. I restarted the phone and could not reproduce the glitch.

I believe this rom also has the same issues Whyzor's gingerbread rom had and that is sometimes when you move the phone away from your ear the screen remains black. I gotta say this will now be the only rom I will be using as hdmi, gps, wifi, battery life, etc all work flawlessly. AMAZING. Great work on this BSydz. I want to apply the voice-mail fix for this rom but am concerned about messing it up as everything works so well! lol

Well My Triumph met an untimely death last weekend. I used my warranty at Best Buy to get a new one. They actually quit selling them off the shelf because they are discontinued. They offered me the Evo and? I said no way, I want the Triumph. So they shipped one in. I picked it up last night.

I gave it today on the stock rom and running the navigation on stock. It sucked and I already miss the Sharp rom. So I'm installing it now.

So one of the things that always drove me nuts about this rom was that the app drawer or what ever you call it. It would leave holes when you uninstalled an app and they were nwver in alphabetical order. So I couldnt find an app i was looking for and I thought maybe there is a search. I pressed the menu key to see if there was a search and found the "sort by name". I selected it and it put all my apps in alphabetical order. That was an awesome find. I'm anal about that stuff too. I keep descovering new things about this rom.

Ok, updated to cwm 5.0.2.7 wipe everything, looks like it reset properly. Installed v7, then the new kernel, got interesting results. Did a speed check at home found upload about double the download speed-- weird.

Headed down to Metro airport in Detroit on major highway, no service. Rebooted got great reception. In airport, again nothing, reboot great connection. Got to Orlando powered on phone fair reception, but once inside main terminal.... Nothing. Reboot again, best signal I've ever seen, checked download , hitting 1200kbs on 3G. Got to my cousins house no signal, reboot, it's fine. So you get the issue. Looks like it is not handing off from area to area as it should.

Open to suggestions.

The ##33284# doesn't work. This is so you can get the MSL#. Not sure why I need it but I like having all the info about my phone as I can. Must just be a thing that's on VM software in the stock rom.

I noticed in one of the screenshots "Tethering and Portable Hotspot". Is tethering functional in this rom like with cm7?

I'm thinking of trying this out because I have a new HDTV and am dying to try the HDMI out :)

Woops, sorry.. I read back a few pages and found my answer along with some tips on troubleshooting tethering if I run into any problems. Thanks :)

I'm having a problem using Link2SD with this ROM. It doesn't recognize (or support) my ext4 partition on my SD card. Is there a kernel that can allow support of ext4? If not, what format does my second SD partition need to be in?

Thanks

Update... Checked my phone this am, no bars, no service. Thinking of flashing v7 over the current install to revert to original kernel.

Whenever you start having wacky things happen like what you're experiencing, I always find the best policy is to do a full wipe & then flash either a new copy of the ROM or go back to your last known "good" backup. Without the full wipe, your issues can follow you, no matter what you flash.

Hope that helps!

Yeah, normall I'd do that but I'm on vacation and just need functionality...

This ROM doesn't seem to be compatible with ext4 or ext3.

What is recommended that I try next? FAT32?
I know that tcross8361 had a thread that he figured out the problem here. If that doesn't help then try the new kernel I added support for damn near every filesystem and a bunch of other stuff, and I have been running it since I built it, with no issues. Hope this helps.

I've been racking my brain to figure this out, the only thing I can think of is aGPS. If you have the gps on, it can knock down the signal and usually it will take a few seconds to reconnect to 3G. I am very interested if anybody else is having this problem. I usually leave the network location on and only toggle gps when I need it. Also the original kernel is in the second post, should be easier than flashing the whole ROM. I still have no idea what can be causing this though. I have traveled down 96, 69, 127, and 23 all on Ver7 and never had an issue, though there were a few spots that there were very weak signals, I have never lost my signal.
