Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

Hashtag's Theme Chooser works just fine on Sleipnir, IIRC. Only the Sleipnir theme is outdated on it - so reverting back using the app gives you the older version before I revised it just a couple of builds ago. As far as ROM ToolBox is concerned - I don't believe there has been a lot of testing as far as the GUI is concerned. However, I can confirm that you can change bootanimations and fonts just fine (unless an update is stopping it from functioning properly).

Hash tag has a theme chooser?

Okay so I copied a message my girlfriend sent me and I'm gonna paste it. She's on the latest version of Sleipnir and she doesn't really do much with the rooting stuff. Mostly just Facebook and stuff.

"No. When I get on fb my screen goes black & freezes. & Then I have to take the battery out. & When it restarts the sleipner logo stays on my screen until I unlock my phone."

I'm getting the same thing when to much ram is being used

I'm thinking it may be a RAM issue too, which can be solved simply by exiting apps with the back button instead of home, of course. Did FB receive an update while she was on v2.4.0, and was working before that update (FB), but not after? If so then it's due to the app's update, I'd say. Is it working now?

I had the issue with and without fb even being installed

Facebook is repaired with a fresh install of Sleipnir. Random reboot every hour sometimes more now. Gonna try under clocking now. I think it's seen it's better days. xD

I had this problem with Facebook in which it would place on my phone, pictures of what people I went to grade school with had for breakfast. I uninstalled it and no longer have the problem.

Artine, is there any possible way I could deodex Sleipnir so theming statusbar elements with Rom Toolbox actually works?

Facebook was having trouble the past few days seems to be fixed now.

The Facebook app in general is just flat-out terrible, and has been since it was released, though they seem to finally be giving it updates to make it decent. I'm not surprised to hear it was likely the app XD Though if it was the ROM, I would have been happier because that'd be something I can fix :P

Hey Artine, well I made a tutorial on how to install your ROM, I figured It would be a good idea for the newcomers to the rom installation process on this phone :)

Here's the link

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFTI3uMY3jQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player

And in a few days I'll make the ROM review..

Thank you. It's cool to see the ROM being featured on YouTube, since it's a product of the entire Optimus Elite community :)
I will also add this to the installation section in the OP, thanks again :)

Sleipnir is deodexed pre-install. Meaning in the .zip, it's actually deodexed, so you could theme it easily before installing it. However, you'd need to contact Leslie about deodexing it (she would know), or methods can be found on xda. But yes, it's possible to deodex Sleipnir. I can create a version, that doesn't self-odex, easily, but note that it will take a performance hit when accessing system apps because odexing partially decompresses the apps to make access quicker, whereas deodexed is fully compressed. Though, last time I checked, didn't ROM ToolBox used to work with odexed ROMs?

No problem!:)

Oh, and in response to your video - and everyone else curious about this - yes, Housekeeping is the phase where the installer does some overkill (just to be certain the data is really gone), by triple-wiping /system, /cache, and the dalvik cache. And then /cache and the dalvik-cache are triple-wiped at the end, too, for reassurance, during the Unmounting phase. Just in case ;)

A good thing to note is that boot-up time depends on how much data you have on your phone. If it's fresh out of the box, or /data has been wiped, it boots up lightning-quick. For myself, as I have a lot of data on my OE, it takes 1-2 minutes. Part of the boot time, too, is having to rebuild the dalvik-cache from scratch again since it was erased before. So if you boot it up, then reboot, it'll boot up even faster (from lightning to light-speed). Lol :P

All in all great video, and good information, and again thank you for making it :) I'm sure it will be very helpful for others :)

Glad you liked it!

Oh I got a question though, My elite isn't activated no more so i mainly use it as a mp3 player so I was downloading a equalizer app but when i go on it it says "your device doesn't support equalizer changes" or something like that.

But it worked before on the stock rom but its not a major problem the music still sounds good, I just wanted to let you know about that, any idea what could be causing that?

Also try rocket music player it has a ten band eq and you can change the look of it plus it has a pre amp and another one I like most of all except the learning curve is the neutron player check those out if u haven't already:thumbup:

Use "Music Volume EQ" as an equalizer. Most amazing one on the market :)
Yeah I used to have that equalizer,

Thanks imma check those out!

I'm not sure why that would be, except that it sounds like that could just be the app. However, I use Winamp and it has a built-in equalizer that works just fine :)

I also added your video guide to the CWM FAQ-Guide :)

There's going to be a small update tonight. I've added everything from scratch to Aeneas. In other words, I feel that Sleipnir has become more finicky over time from just updating it and modifying things, letting everything get recompressed over and over again for months, so I decided to add everything modified to a fresh copy of Aeneas, to see if it makes the ROM, as a whole, more sound and stable.

Thats Ironic as Today I downloaded 2.4.0 for the 3rd time & it hasn't had any issues yet (2 hours & counting), I couldn't get it to stabilize before but it seems fine now,...Thanks for all your work!!
