I think I've narrowed down the issue. Not a Sleipnir issue I'm happy to report
Reproduced it on stock firmware (with someone else's Optimus Elite also), it happens with particular kinds of wifi networks and wifi location finding.
Artine, any ideas for where you want to take this ROM in the future? Any thoughts on CM coming to the Optimus Elite?
Just a feature request: is it possible to work in a volume button skip track (it's an added feature for a lot of ROMs, it's possible to skip to the next/previous tracks when the screen is off by holding the volume rocker for a second).
Glad to hear it doesn't happen on all networks!
As for the future, CM Swipe Notifications and INT2EXT4 among other things are some items of interest I would like to implement in the future, and what we can do until the kernel is modified for full init.d support, as opposed to the ad-hoc state it's currently in, is limited for the time being. And, as much as I'd like to, I get all sorts of bizarre errors when using the Windows-based tools for kernel modification, so it never works.
As for more on the future of this ROM, I'd like to take its current state and finished state and apply that to Hydra, and update Project Mayhem with the Sleipnir back-end among other things, because Sleipnir has the most bugs fixed and is the most efficient ROM currently available, so it only makes sense to have it as a base since there's few bugs, and massive back-end improvement compiled from all of the other top ROMs into one roof. I would love to see more ROMs based off of it.
Because Sleipnir is at a stable and functioning state right now, there may not be any updates in the near future, but I will be looking into other ways to improve upon it while keeping it barebones and efficient. A modified vold.fstab is a definite possible addition. And note that while there may not be any updates in the very near future, Sleipnir is far from being forgotten about. Hydra is going to take the forefront of Development until its updated to use the current back-end improvements of Sleipnir, and then Project Mayhem will take the forefront from there until an update for either Sleipnir or Hydra becomes necessary (from either finding something cool, fixing Activation, or something else). One thing is for sure, though: Sleipnir and Hydra are very close to being finished.
As for CyanogenMod: I would like to see CM come to the OE, as I've never had a device with it before (the OE is my first actual smartphone), so I'm kind of excited and am hoping that all of the good things I hear about it are true. If possible, I would like to do a Sleipnir type of build for CM, though I'm better at compiling and combining than actually creating when it comes to Android (which is something that is apparently lacking severely in all Android communities, is a compilation of information under one roof, much of it - though not all of it - appears to be scattered here and there), though I've done some creating as well.
