Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

Personally, I've never been able to get that to work, even on Harmonia. My thought has always been that it simply got compressed weird, which broke the .apk, so it won't install or show up.

As for the app not uninstalling via TiB, that's weird. As in, very very weird. Try fixing permissions in CWM and see if that helps. I'm also going to be adding the fix permissions thing to the installation process in general.

Only /system/app gets odexed. Also, the ideal SD card cache is 2048KB.

Where do I go to see if my sd card cache is set right cause I lost all my movies again my phone's been unstable in this latest Rom soft reboots each day more frequent than any other version did all the wiping and fixing permissions

hi, just wanted to say thanks to artine and the rest of the crew. this was my first attempt at rooting/romming and it went pretty smoothly (aside from some user error!).

Having many data issues with this ROM, both WiFi and 3G. I'm seeing a lot of "network unavailable" and can't connect issues in Facebook, Browser, Twitter, BeyondPod with certain feeds. I switched off Juice Defender to be sure.

I just thought is was just data issues or server issues. But, I went back to my stock ROM nandroid backup and all the issues seem to have gone away.

Any ideas? Could this be due to the overclock speed?

Thanks,
BOb

Anyone know where the blue theme flashable zip is? I'm reflashing this ROM and wanted the blue theme again.

And to all the developers..... do you know where the call and text log files are located in the android system files?

/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/
databases/contacts2.db

No idea why you need that, but app extractor can pull that out of your Nandroid backup and restore it to your ROM... Just sayin'. Ignore that if you're up to something else. :D

The easiest way would be to install hashtag's theme chooser and apply a theme, even the sleipnir theme, or go back a build or two, I think it was just changed in 2.3.8. . http://androidforums.com/elite-all-things-root/664159-theme-chooser-some-other-things.html Just make a backup first as I don't know if you can go back to the way it was before switching themes.

Thanks a bunch for this, I truly enjoy this Rom but this Status would be pretty much a deal breaker if it couldn't be changed.

It's probably not too helpful, but I'm having no trouble at all accessing Facebook or Dolphin (my browser, but anything's better than stock, lol), or Pulse, on either 3G or Wifi. If you have DroidWall installed, I'd check to make sure it's allowing network access to those apps. It shouldn't be related to the overclocking, though, but you could always try troubleshooting that by toning down the overclock one level at a time for the maximum setting.

I installed that sd speed app it's good but doesn't answer the question Artine do you have any ideas?

It should show you what the current setting is, and allow you to alter it, but by default it is set to 2048 via a script I made. As for losing any data, you shouldn't have lost anything and it makes no sense that you would, unless you're wiping /sdcard or /emmc, which are your external and internal SD cards respectively. Nothing in the installer touches /data aside from removing the dalvik-cache which is (oddly enough) stored in /data, but I've never lost any of my movies (or pictures), no matter how many times I've flashed on my phone, so to be honest I really have no idea how or why you're losing yours, unless it's stored on an app you have that's destroying them for one reason or another.

This is running well, except I get a lot of freezes and then reboots. Any suggestions?

Make sure you're using a CPU tuner app, it's probably unstable, and try knocking down the maximum frequency a notch each time until things are stable. 122MHz is disabled, so that shouldn't be the problem.

EDIT: On a side note, I've just noticed that "BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL...!" with the freshened up build, not only do large file transfers work (which was mentioned earlier), but I'm now able to add an updated Play Store to /system/app and have it work correctly without any reboots. In other words... YAY updateable /system/apps.

Does that mean the ROM is updateable? ;)

hi, thanks again for a nice rom. is there a way to change the font color when adding contact information? specifically, if i click on a number that is not in my phonebook, click "add to contacts," click "create new contact," the accounts are black text on a grey background that is a bit difficult to read. thanks.

I would be happy to look into that and see if I can change that, as I agree it is a little hard to read :)

Also, v2.4.0.2 is out. Not too much has changed, but I've had zero instability problems (which is good and new), and now Sleipnir can have its system apps updated (I'm guessing Android finally decided to let this be possible, since it seems to have a mind of its own), so by default the new Play Store is available, binaries and some other system apps were updated as well, and it seems to be rock-solid. As always, if you're having instability issues, try knocking down your maximum overclock frequency by a peg or two ore more as required, as instability is likely the result of the overclocking being too high at this point (AnTuTu stability tests showed this build to be rock-solid stability-wise). And as usual, if there are any other issues that may be a problem with the ROM, let me know!

EDIT: There will be are Sendspace mirrors for each build shortly now :)

thanks. i was wondering if that was a part of the rom that could not be changed or if it was part of the holo theme which could be changed.

it also appears in some of my pull-down notification/status bar messages as well, like weather.

It should be easily changed in the XML for either SystemUI or framework-res :)

Oh my gosh. I just spent two hours reading all the posts and I'm terrified that if I try it, I'll screw it up extremely. I need a "nerd" to do it for me as I've never done any ROM changes.

Try what? Installing a new ROM? Just follow the instructions in the main post verbatim (word for word) and you'll be fine. It's pretty easy :) Keep in mind that all of those posts were between October of last year, to now, so it's 6 months' worth of trial and error that snuffed out pretty much any bugs left, and it's refined and stable now, which is why this is one of the final builds :)

In short, you most certainly don't need anyone to do this for you, nor a nerd. The instructions are written for anyone, from those brand new to Android to those who are hardcore veterans, you'll be just fine as long as you follow the instructions :)

Yes, but when I installed the CWM It said it doesn't support my phone? Otherwise I'd feel more comfortable. "Sorry! Until ClockWorkMod Recovery is available, ROM will NOT work with LG-LS696!"

Sounds like you tried installing from clickworkmod themselves. Not a good idea. Senor artine here has a sticky thread that shows you how to get it on our phone
