Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

The mediafire links are always getting deleted. Although it works sendspace is always slow for me.

And again that makes no sense as to why. There's nothing to set off any flags. At all. In any way. And yeah, SendSpace is slow to download but quick to upload, whilst Mediafire is quick to download and slow to upload. Oh well.

I will try that in place of Mediafire. Thank you.

I loaded 2.0.6 yesterday and it looks awesome. Btw, when I check the verison on the phone, it says 2.0.5. Did I load the wrong version or the version is labeled incorrectly?

I'm on the 2.0.4 build still, are the changes made to 2.0.6 worth the quick flash?

For updates to a ROM, you only have to wipe/format the following:

Cache
Dalvik Cache (preferably twice)
System

And that's it. Since virtually all changes take place in system. The only exception to this is if I edit the local.prop (and I don't) or if I update any of the five user apps included (which I do). But, since you probably are updating those anyway, there's nothing to worry about /data wise, so you do not ever have to format /data. Only the cache, dalvik cache, and system.

ive tried many roms so far. ( Aeneas, Harmonia, Tagged and Sleipnir) and out of those my all time fav is Sleipnir with the ICS theme. i love everything about this ROM. i do have 1 question... is there anyway to change the blue color to another color?

Of course, but that's having to individually edit the 409 .png and .9.png files in the SystemUI .apk in the /drawable-mdpi folder. Then doing the same with all 892 .png and .9.png files in framework-res .apk under /drawable-mdpi. Unless you're also able to batch mode it. And since I've never had luck to be able to edit them, you're kind of out of luck with changing the color. Hashtag could do it, I'm sure, or ktb or Curtis, but I am unable to (for unknown reasons). Also, by default, Sleipnir's UI is Tagged and the ICS Elite ROMs' UI together under one roof. With some minor changes by myself thrown in for good measure. In other words, it has both, so people do not have to choose between one or the other (but they can).

It's possible, and I'd be glad to do so, but it'd also be fairly time consuming. And if anyone else is able to and would like to, by all means go for it. Android is open source, and as such I'm perfectly fine with someone taking Sleipnir and making their own personal revisions. Which is taking Tagged, as a result, and doing the same thing. Which is also taking Aeneas and doing the same thing. Which is all permitted and all encouraged.

wow did not realize it was going to be that complicated. i think i'll just leave it the way it is. if it isn't broke don't mess with it, is what i like to say. you did a great job putting your own twist on this man keep up the good work.

Well of course, I do know that, perhaps flash wasn't the term to use.

There is a small indicator; it's a little green glowing dot on the stock keyboard that indicates that caps lock is on. And, any keyboard is better than the stock one, and plenty are available for free. Also, I actually never noticed the alarm clock icon thing for the stock slide-to-unlock lock screen, because I never use it because I still butt dial people with that lock screen. That icon is pulled directly from the ICS Elite ROM. It's a part of their theme, and I'll see what I can do.

As for having a battery % on the screen without having it plugged in; that's redundant. It says your percentage on the status bar already, showing it twice, more often, is more repetitive.

WoW ok >I know of the little green dot thats not the case here..this happens when its not lit up and often.. capslock stuck on > no green dot. no caplocks hold initiation. I cant be the only one..

The battery % is way to small and it maybe redundant but it was easily legible unlike the status bar. and there is a big empty space there during lock screen for it already..

Im using Sleipnir 2.0.5 and i have to tell ya i dont know if its my cpu settings at 122-1088mhz (set to save battery) or a ram addressing issue but my locker is bugging out . sometimes it locks but doesnt show the locker slide yet i lost all functionality and to regain I have to hit the lock button twice - one to lock/sleep then again to pull up slide to unlock.

This has happened during text 3 times this week and erased what i had typed > no draft saved. minutes later the draft may or may not show up. Check sum on install file was good.

I remember switching to this rom from tagged a month or so ago and reflashed back cause I thought it was buggy . idk . Im going to install 2.0.6 and see if that resolves any issues.:smokingsomb:

As far as the keyboard issue goes, I have no idea. I never had that problem even on stock before rooting. But I can look into it.

Ideally, you'd want your governor to be smartassV2, and your min frequency to be 2xx, not 1xx. That may actually be where all of the problem is. I had countless problems when my minimum frequency was 1xx, because it was far too slow and caused a lot of lag issues with the locker itself - so I've been there. And that was with powersave, not smartassV2. And that was all the way back on stock.
If I'm correct, the reason for this is because a) the frequency is actually too low (however 2xx is not, also cpu tuner apps typically warn you that setting the minimum too low may cause issues), and b) powersave I think sends the phone into a deep sleep which, at 1xx, takes a long time to recover from. With smartassV2, I've never had this issue and I'm sure you won't either. There are these recommended settings in the OP for this reason (as well as getting two days' worth of battery life). Think of smartassV2 as a lagless version of powersave, that affords you even more battery life (potentially). It's worth a shot, anyway.

2.0.6 was meant to include a fix for TTS, which didn't fix it. I would wait for 2.0.7. However, it would be a good idea to format/erase the dalvik cache twice, cache once, and system once or twice before updating a ROM.

And as I'm always open to suggestions, I will look into the battery thing. I never said I didn't like the idea, just that it sounded repetitive. For the time being until it is altered, you could always try Hashtag's theme chooser now that it's out. I've been wanting to make it more legible as well.

As I said, I'd be more than happy to do it. I'm just not able to.

Well of course, I do know that, perhaps flash wasn't the term to use.

It was. And while 2.0.6 isn't very different from 2.0.5 as it was meant to include a TTS fix, which didn't fix it, 2.0.5 is much cleaner and with a slightly different UI than 2.0.4 as it was a better combination and everything was redone from the ground up (which also should have fixed TTS). So I would flash 2.0.5 between now and 2.0.7, if you're going to.

Ah well darn, I updated to 2.0.6 and regardless its just fine. I like the update to the SMS UI, I remember it was all I wanted on the Optimus V, but now I have it lol.

v2.0.7 is go, and you no longer have to type in the periods for the version number when checking the md5.

The battery icon has not changed and the wifi icon has not moved, for those concerned, in this build.

However, from my testing, it would appear that all bugs are now fixed, as TTS is working fully and properly from what I can tell, finally. The search button remap may or may not work (fingers crossed). And in the near future, there will be separate Virgin Mobile and Sprint releases, since up to now they've only been Virgin Mobile and now that everything's fixed... why not?

Additionally, there is now a changelog posted right underneathe each current version/revision. Feel free to check it out now. And shortly, there will be Alarms/Notifications/Ringtones packs posted in the OP directly above the changelog. I cut out many of them for this release to save ~13MB in size.

Enjoy.

Download link does not work.

I was just about to update my earlier post before someone caught that. The link is temporarily down/removed because I had forgotten to update the build.prop and installer with the new version number, whoops XD

It should be back up within the hour. I may have fixed the screenshot issue as well.

Ok.

Hey Artine, Just flashed v2.07, and while it looks great, my Home button doesn't work. I've gone through all the settings I could find....and no luck. I know you were tweaking on the button programming/mapping....could you have done something accidentally to the Home button?? What's the matter, not getting enough Sleip lately? LOL

Guess I hold off on updating to v2.07 until that problem is fix.

And no, I'm not, but that's another story for another time. I also noticed that the power menu was half-borked. Ugh. However, I already took care of the home key thing in the process as I reset the keymapping whilst working on the power menu (now that the updater and build.prop have been fixed). *sigh*

Oh well. With any luck, it won't be much longer. At least it only takes ten seconds to boot up.

EDIT 1 Minute Later: Power menu's fixed. Not sure what I did (but I think, even though it's not being used, it's tied into the SetupWizard somehow?), but it worked :D Home key works too. You know what this means, v2.0.7 is (again) ready to go!

After a short break and a word from our sponsors while it uploads to SendSpace and Mediafire (until I find an alternative).

I notice you included packs with this new version. This is to allow more memory or the option to have it on our phone? If I do want to add them all I have to do is flash them?

They're not flashable, the reason being that I would think, since there's so many, that people should want to choose what they want to have out of the pack. You would move the files to their appropriate location; /system/media/audio/alarms for alarms, /system/media/audio/notifications for notifications, and /system/media/audio/ringtones for ringtones, respectively.

I initially went about having all of those audio files installed with the ROM, but it made more sense to have only some of them installed with it, and allow anyone to pull in the rest if they so wished in order to save some memory, yes.
