hey this is a good rom, no problems so far, but i noticed that it has a smoke effect when you unlock the screen, do you have any ideas how to disable that effect??

to disable the effect open root explorer navigate to /system/app, mount r/w and delete the 2 weather widget apks.. this will also deletew the colock widget that comes on this rom.. just to let you know.. other than that.. you can try the weather widget settings to disable it b4 deleting the apks

Yes I noticed this also - think it may be part of the weather widgets (H7) that come with this ROM (??) not exactly sure. Would like to know also. But I remember when I activated the weather widget my screen would have sort of like clouds (or smoke) effect. Since taking off the weather widget, I'm not seeing this effect anymore. If it's not this, maybe by disabling animations within settings, tho will probably stop all animations, may disable this. Someone will probably chime in soon with an answer.

That's not smoke, people, it's clouds! Keep it around for a non cloudy day--you'll see a sun glisten. Keep it around for a thunderstorm, you'll see rain, a windshield wiper perhaps, and lightning and stuff.

EDIT: Yes, the animations are from one of the Weather and Toggle Widget APK's. There are the main one, the addon pack that I think has the animations, and the H7C clock skin apk.

I recommend "freezing" the apps before deleting. You can do this by simply adding an invalid file extension on the end of the APK filenames. That way if you change your mind later, you don't have to crack open the ROM zip file later, and you can just change the filenames back. Up to you.

I like Beautiful Widgets better generally, although the animations with these are a little smoother when they end. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you freeze or delete these APK's, you will also lose a variety of toggle widgets that come with them.

I have yet to find a way within them to disable the weather animations while still keeping them unfrozen/installed.

Yes freezing, that's what I did - didn't want to take any chances lol.
[On a sidenote - @ The_Dude, missed seeing your post last few days. Between you and Optimus One's post, they have been really helpful. Just followed and tried your A2sdGui post on partitioning and so far it's working - so thank you much] :)

You can actually uninstall the weather Apps it will not affect the rom I took it off a month ago and no issues. So I wouldn't worry about freezing it just uninstall :-D

by all means, it won't cause harm--i was suggesting freezing in the event that someone should change their mind and want it back without much trouble. =>

I do this also - I freeze most of the time vs. deleting in case down the road might want to try it again :)

Did you partition SD to SD-EXT2 then convert to SD-EXT3 in recovery?

i tried to download wireless tether and it slow i rebooted my phone at least twice.

Edit: it works thanks

one other question i have

these apps that came with rom such as

titanium backup superuser root explorer & Phandroid what are those and what do they do? Are they any cool apps that i could download that could come to good use.

I'd recommend keeping those apps, Titanium Backup, Superuser and Root Explorer - they will come in handy for your rooted phone. You'll need Superuser for root accessible applications, like with Titanium, great for running backups of your droid sys and sd-card, freezing apps, delete, copy files, etc. And Root Explorer is a great powerful file manager. Read up on them at the Market. Also sure someone else could better explain this.

hmm yeah i just tried it myself, and then tried just going to mediafire.com period, and can't connect. even tried pinging the site and all requests timed out. So it seems to be mediafire having troubles right now. I would try later/tomorrow...? don't bother the dev about it yet since it seems to be site-wide.

I tried to download them several days ago and the image filed downloaded, but the other larger file was asking for a password (which I didn't have) --and now not connecting or blank.
