Root [ROM-WIP-5/25/12]LeWa

I always do a very thorough wipe and format and use a wiper zip just before flashing a ROM to make sure there is no residual data to corrupt the new ROM. The supplied Music Player app is bad about force closures, the older one is fine. The only option before I deleted it and installed the old apk was to try a kernel change. The kernel being like a bios in a PC, I figured it wasn't getting along with the app for some reason. I finger'd right. The kernel change did the trick.
 
CuriousNoob. I have a question about the Music GWK74 (04142021/VM670)-MiRaGe apk (also called LewaPlayer.apk)
What was used to sign it. It doesn't seem to be signed (I could be wrong). I am trying to get this working as it's used for the lock screen music widget (The one where you flick the Angry Bird to open it up from the lock screen). It doesn't matter what kernel I use it ain't helping it.
EDIT: What permissions should it have?
I had to install a fresh download and this time I installed the tvall kernel (the BobZohme v4 was slowing it down a little). It really flies now, but the above mentioned Music player (not the Google Music Player) still doesn't work. It takes longer to force close after running fix permissions, but it still force closes.

I don't know why, but every time I do a permission fix, I run into more errors, CWM recovery.
With any ROM I use, this happens...
 
I was told never to do fix permissions in rrcovery.

Use Terminal Emulator.

@Andy, it is unsigned. I'm using Win XP for a bit, so its harder for me to navigate to some stuff.


Port your own Lewa!?

1. Download a CM7 rom, latest build is better.
2. Download a LeWa mdpi rom.
3.In the CM7 rom, deletes the following folders: Apps, Framework, Media.
4.Copy Apps, Framework, Media, from LeWa rom to CM7 rom.
5.Save zip, copy to Sd card, flash the zip.

I too have a Windows XP, but have had it for about 6 months. I like navigating thru it better then the Windows Vista I had.
I like what you did with this ROM. I had to try the fix permission option in the recovery because I was getting an error with the emulator for some reason? "fix not found".
If I could figure out A. How to make the LewaPlayer work or B. How to make another music player (the supplied Google Play Music) work with the lock screen Angry Bird widget; this ROM would be perfect.
The info you gave me gives me another option in trying to get it working, but I don't know if these options will hinder performance (this ROM really flies).

I'm going to have to learn how to pull the LewaPlayer apart and recompile it with a Player that will work. No Idea what I'm doing here, but that has never stopped me before.

If I hit on something that works I'll post here.
 
I find Win 7 easier to navigate because I can hold shift and click right click on any folder and it will say " Open Command Prompt Here ".

Easier for ADB use. :D
 
It would be nice if you posted a link to the proper LeWa mdpi ROM for this Phone. I got lost tying to figure out which one to download after googling it.
 
There's not a proper one, but many of them. I used the Optimus One's LeWa rom, although they ported from somewhere else.


Most LeWa roms are MDPI, and there are only 2 lewa HDPI phones.
 
The symbols on the Dial pad are what they should be. The Japanese or Chinese was just an addon. If you look through the whole UI you will see that everything is as it should be, with the addition of another language here and there.
