Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Hadn't tested the Camcorder on previous builds, but, I too cannot record sound. My Gmail, however, updates just fine for me. Did you set your accounts to auto-sync your gmail? Since you did a clean wipe, that may be the issue...

Yes, I did. I am not getting updates for new email in the notification bar. Not only that, but I am not getting notifications for other apps, like Facebook Messenger.

LOL, just saw your edit...

hey Jerry, i flashed the rom and it runs so smooth and perfectly. i flashed the picasticks kernel over the rom and this just completely improved the performance and batterly life drastically. there is only one problem, the screen does not rotate, at all. only when apps require the screen to be in landscape. other than that, it doesnt not orientate when i rotate my phone. is there anything i can do to fix this?

yeahh it worked fine on mine until i flashed the picasticks kernel. then it stopped. i checked everything. it seem as if no one is having the same problem as me.

Pica is froyo this is gb. There's going to be issues using a froyo kernel on a gb rom.

Edit: no camera issues with sound did have issue with the market but I cleared its data and catch (for market) and allowed it to update (had updater frozen) and now that works as well. Had a few fcs on launcher pro nothing major. Notifications work great make sure you go into the apps settings and have notifications enabled. Headset (wired) is working have not made a call with the headset (one that came with the phone )

Off topic side note, got bored and built my first Linux machine with Ubuntu. Just had to mention lol.

Probably because no one is using picasticks kernel with BACKside-IHO. You might try Drew's xionia-redux kernel, it was build to work with IHO builds, only for the Optimus S, so you may have to swap home-menu keys.

There have definitely been some issues with the source code over the past week and a half. The main Android repo had sync issues, CyanogenMod7.1 had commits that weren't compatible, and Blarf is cleaning things up and preparing to support another of the Optimus line of phones. Sorry for the issues, I can post other builds with less issues if anyone needs me too. For now, if you use the 0823 build and take the email.apk from any other build, you should have a pretty much bug free install.

(i know this is a lil late buuut) for mine, i use 600/768 ondemand, and i get pretty good battery life, and performance. i was listening to music through out a 2 hour bus ride, 1 hour walk, and constantly using facebook, texting like a teenaged girl, using maps to find out where i needed to go. and only drained from charge to 86% battery.. unplugged from charger around 11am and it reached 86% around 4 or 5pm.

In honor of the recent builds, check out the new bootsound! :)

I tested, rebooted, then tested again the following:
-- Market - updated and installed new apps
-- Camera - took pictures and videos with audio
-- GPS - maps and the browser both lock on quick, navigation icon present
-- Accelerometer - tested on My Paper Airplane and in settings menus, worked fine
-- Email - both my yahoo and gmail accounts synced and notified me
-- Browser - tried server sites, different ones before and after reboot

I did have to reflash gapps, ymmv. ;)

Very much enjoy using your builds, JerryScript -- would it be possible to incorporate camera sound silencing?

Or perhaps generating an optional simple Zip file the enable this?

I flash my ROM every time you update your build, and find myself doing a manual Zip update for the circle battery mod (UOT), then manually renaming/deleting the camera click sound files

I would imagine there are many others out there who feel the same :)

I wont be removing the camera click sound due to it's being required by law in some jurisdictions.

(something to do with those stupid upskirt picture takers)

Ha, just when I was about to ask if anyone else is having mms troubles, I'll flash this Tom to see if it fixes it.

it fixed MMS too. love the boot sound, seems like everything is working perfectly so far

EDIT:
and a pretty good idea for a boot animation - after the boot sound says "5 seconds" make a boot animation count down from 5, along with an extended sound, makeing countdown "boop-ing" noises. and at the end make it say "gotcha" or something like that, and then an IHO animation. you should have enough time for boot to do all that and then some.

Finally got around to doing my first root. Well, ok, it was my 2nd. I rooted my old Intercept which doesn't get used anymore except when I get bored and try to do things with it. If it bricks, so what.

Love the look, feel and speed of this. Went smooth right from the 1st attempt.

I tried to update from the 8/20 build to the 8/25 build. After the I.H.O. logo, I hear the boot sound, but it freezes at a black screen. I probably need to do a clean install. I'll wait for a few more releases to go by to make it worth the effort.

Did you try just letting sitting there?

Same thing happened to me got the sound and had a black screen for a while just let it sit and loaded up just fine. the first reboot usually takes a little bit and if i'm not mistaken there is not boot animation with this one?

Oh. There's no boot animation? I didn't see that in the changelog. I figured something was wrong. I'll update it again and be more patient this time. hahaha

haha i'm not sure if there is one or not...I just know my didnt when it first booted once i got it booted up I threw in my droid incredible boot animation to just to get some boot feedback.;)

It worked. Now I just need to find a good tutorial on how to change the boot logo and boot animation (because I'm that bored). haha

I noticed that the default exposure setting in the camera app is fixed. It's not too dark anymore. VERY NICE. All of the exposure settings work too. There's also a timer function added to it. The camera is perfect now.

I can only find one problem with this ROM. A transparency effect in some apps is kind of scrambled. For example, if you go to your friends list on the Facebook app and use the slider on the right to do a fast scroll by letter, the popup letter is scrambled. I've noticed in a few other places, but I can only think of the Facebook app off the top of my head.
