Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

I had a hell of a time getting it on.. 3rd time finally got it.. Boot loops.. Ended up flashing 0509.. Initial boot.. Reboot into cwm, flash gapps 0307 I believe.. Reboot to cm7.. Cwm, metroff.. Also figured out 0501 gapps caused bootloop..
where did you get 0501 gapps?

Also if you are having USB file transfer issues, which this seems to be. If you haven't used SAMBA filesharing. that is defineitely an fantastic alternative. No need for USB at all that way. Seach samba filesharing in the market.

Or you can use Wifi File Explorer. It gives you an IP address that you put into your browser. Then from there you can download/upload files to and from your computer. It basically just works through your wifi. This is just a simple to use alternative. I've tried it on Chrome and Internet Explorer, With both working.

Though only the paid for app ($1.61 - Wifi File Explorer PRO) allows you to move big files such as the Cm7.zip. If you can't figure out SAMBA then I'd recommend this. :]

LOL. He probably got the number on the Gapps wrong. I know there is two, A lot of people are having trouble because they use the one for Cm6. They think it's the same thing as the one for Cm7, Though it's not. :[

Also, I've heard quite a few people having trouble with this new build, Don't worry. There isn't that much difference between the build right before it and this one. Only over-clocking and the gremlin noise. If your phone isn't taking to the new build, It probably wouldn't of liked the higher over-clock options either. :X

i have been using the gapps-gb-03072011 because that is the recent one, i flashed it at least 3 times ato make sure i was doing it right and it still screwed up, and my carrier is with cricket wireless. P.S i have used the 05012011 gapps as well to see if that works and got the same results, stuck at CM7 new huawei screen.

Is that 0501 of this year? If so, WHERE did you find that?

Ill have to check when I get home.. Fairly certain was prob for cm6 like rain said as ive been going through it with roms lately and mms.. Seems its just iphone and a select people that wont work though.. Used to work though..

Edit: it is 05012011 and is linked on cm6 ascend wiki.. http://prepaidandroid.org/index.php?title=CM6-Ascend like I said though that one boot looped cm7

why do i feel left out? am i doing it right or am i screwing up? i erased factory set, erase cache partition, delvik cache, format boot data system and cache, go to zip card install cm7-ascend-05092011-zip., then install gapps-gb-03072011-zip. go to advance fix permission and shut off and turn back on... i did all this and its still stuck on the huawei screen.

Those are the correct steps but some people are having trouble flashing this build. Don't know what the cause is but a few people have been unsuccessful flashing it, although they have flashed other builds. You may be stuck on the last build.

is there anybody working on the new build so the ascenders could flash to the version and stay up to date with the new build?

Those Gapps are for CM6. They don't work on CM7.

There are newer GINGERBREAD Gapps (05032011), but there's something in there that doesn't work for armv6 processor, which is what the Ascend has. There's no hurry to flash a newer version of Gapps because all it does is link you to the Market.

Simply put, flash ONLY GB Gapps.

@kingjay2012: When flashing, don't run fix permissions before the reboot. That'll screw everything up. I don't know which guide you used to flash, but that's wrong.

I'm only going to say this one more time. DO NOT SEND ME PM'S ASKING FOR PERSONAL HELP. period.

Also, DO NOT ASK FOR ETA's. I release builds when I feel like releasing them.

Any and all PM's related to begging for help will be deleted and I'll probably just add you to the ignore list. This applies to all sites I'm on (Twitter, Github, the Prepaid Wiki).

If you guys want to say what's up? Or just strike up a convo with me, that's cool. I like that actually.

Just post your question on the thread (this is a forums, right?). I check the site daily and if I can answer the question, I will. Check my track record. I ain't lying.

To all the cool people, disregard this post. I appreciate your courtesy and consideration.

Happy Ascending, people.

Damn, I always have used toke's guide which says to fix permissions before reboot.. Everything seems to be find on 0509 besides the iphone mms thing.. ill note that for next flash though.. thanks..

ok so i've tried it again and nothing happened the same situation and i didnt fix the permission after i installed everything, so i guess its the build thats malfunctioning with my phone.

ok i have fixed the permission wheni first tried the cm705092011 and when i tried again i didnt fix the permission and both of them i got the same result it froze up at the huawei screen.... if anybody got the guide to install it could you plz tell me or guide me through it?
P.S the new update that is.....

this is what i did.... i erased factory set, erase cache partition, delvik cache, format boot data system and cache, go to zip card install cm7-ascend-05092011-zip., then install gapps-gb-03072011-zip. go to advance fix permission and when that didnt work i tried it again without fixing permission and shut off and turn it back on... i did all this and its still stuck on the huawei screen.
