Root [ROM][WIP]Party Time JB 3.2

quick question...I'm trying to build pretty much any version of vanilla android ICS or up with ubuntu, and i don't have enough space because ubuntu would only let me have 30 GB of space, is there a way i could expand my partition without wiping it?

Boot to GParted and you should be able to resize the partition, it's always somewhat risky, but I've never had an issue, just make sure data is backed up.

See SB..another fine example of 'learning when your're old'! If you'da followed my advice; and try and build that brick wall the way I said; I'da had you walking di-rictly into 'dat 'mo 'fo..LOL!..:banghead:

Thx Korn! I COMPLETELY spaced on that one!
Sa-WING 'n a miss....

Peace,

Now that I've thought about it, and DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH; I seem to remember Artine mentioning in a post about a free partitioning program called PARAGON...

And another question. Can I install it as it's own partition on an external drive? I have it wubi installed for now until I figure this stuff out

I've never done that, but you should be able to without issues, Linux has great support for portable installations.

But if you're using Wubi with an older version of Ubuntu that should be enough for what you're doing, then you don't even need to deal with partitions.

yeah, i know i don't have to have partitions, but wubi won't let me install ubuntu with more than 30GB so that's why for what i'm doing i may need to install to partition, unless someone knows how to wubi more than 30GB

Oh, ok, I forgot about that limit, haven't used Wubi in a long time.

I just googled "what is the size limit for partitions With Wubi". According to the Ubuntu sites that came up, there is a way to do it, but as noob as I am most of it went over my head. But if I were you, I'd just highlight the sentence in quotations, and right click 'search google for... ' and those sites I found will pop up.

Hey guys. Sorry to hop in the middle of the Ubuntu stuff.

First of all, Happy New Years.

Secondly, once the PT is installed, say I remove an app from the ROM and will it be gone once its flashed, can I just install that real fast with out factory reseting?

Wubi is limited to 30GB, there is no getting around that, but there is actually an alternative. The virtual disk Ubuntu is installed on can't be larger than 30GB, but you can create a second virtual disk and have the home directory on the second disk.

Yeah; there was that, I remember; but also something about installing a 'full version'...? Or maybe it was a 'non-Wubi version'...or something

Edit: We probably should stay on topic/thread...n'est ce pas?

Yeah, installing the full version means either partitioning your HDD or removing Windows completely. And this is on topic considering SB was inquiring about it to build Android.

Speaking of which, did you come to a conclusion on what you'll do SB? Have you tried installing it on an external hard drive or making a second virtual disk for your home directory?

If you remove an application without it being backed up by any program such as Titanium Backup, it'll be gone. If you reflash a new rom (for example, the same rom), and that's a system app, it'll be back on the phone. If you restore a nandroid backup done after you removed the app in question, it'll still be gone.

I was able to flash with no issues. I absolutetly love this ROM. I have one question. Is there anyway to set pics from my gallery as my lock screen background? it only gives me the option of wallpapers. Or is there a way to copy and paste in the root browser like with the system sounds?

Also any help with overclocking would be amazing. Im kinda new to the root family and this forum has been more than helpfull.

Thanks in advance.

Also if there is a way of getting the stock camera for this ROM thatd be awesome. I really like the way that camera is set up and all the scene options for it.

For the wallpaper, go to you gallery, find your picture, hit the menu key and you'll find the option.
For the camera, search xda for a stock Samsung one.

It only gives me the options of setting it as gallery (main walllpaper) google+ or contact photo. And when i try to set it in the lockscreen settings it only gives me the option to pick from stock wallpapers

For anyone with camera issues, Camera JB+ seems to work the best, as long as the $2 isn't an issue, the only thing not working with it is zoom (at least from what I've tested). It even let's you use SD card, something none of the other apps seem to let you do. And video works, and it lets you silence your camera (illegal in some places, but who cares ;))

Also, the camera button on the side of the phone opens this app when you hold it down, all in all I feel like it's worth the money.

So this morning I woke up at 4am BC I'm sick a d was playing with my and noticed that it wasn't charging. So I restart it and still nothing. My phone recognized the charger being plugged in but wasnt charging. I go into CWM to restore my stock ROM it completes and I reboot and it boots straight into CWM I also did a factory reset and still booted to CWM. After I woke up again at 11 I plugged it into the charger it booted to CWM and I left if there. Two hours later my phone was factory reset and was charging. I was finally able to restore my stock ROM but idk if I want to flash this again if that's going to happen. My mind is blown that my phone fixed itself in CWM. Anyone else ever have this happen ?

yeah, the charging port on this phone can be all out of whack even if nothing else is wrong with the phone...my new one works correctly though

and noticed that it wasn't charging. ?

100% the phone. Rooted with the last one was fine. Stopped charging correctly and I thought perhaps it was the ROM. Nothing I did after helped it. Got a replacement, now I can charge with brightness all the way up and OC'd to 1.7 even when rooted and ROM'd. It's definitely the phone's charger port.

Well when it finally reset it was charging fine and has been charging fine since this episode. I'm running stock and I can't stand it. I want something new lol. And I got spoiled with this ROM minus a few things. Do you know the window for getting a replacement?

depends on where you live in relation to the shipping wearhouse, but wheneveri have needed a replacement (happened a lot with my LG Optimus Elite) i get my replacement the same day or the day after i call.
