Nah, so far 2.4 is all good. I think there's another level of the Linaro/Ani Kernel that I could push on the phone...supposed to allow for 18xx setting.
If there is, and that goes well, I'll try PT2.5 tomorrow or Tue.

Have you given any thought to what I posted about the capacitive buttons remaining active while the screen is un-responsive? So far, I haven't seen anyone else have this particular issue...probably just another Ghost In The Machine...

Um for me I've only had that kind of freeze...but only two of the three have function...the menu button has nothing during freeze
 
Ugh.. this phone is becoming such a chore. It ran fine. Nearing a year and suddenly its crapping out on me. The ROM has been great just charger port going bad. Now its getting all buggy like the way you guys have been describing it. Just plan stupid. F'in samsung


EDIT: Now it's getting all freezy when I am charging it. I leave it on the charger and it freezes at 21% and wont charge past it. Restarting puts it back at like 19%. Charge it again and freezes at 21.


EDIT 2: Hoooookay. Got the phone to charge normally (read: very slowly). Had to pull the battery out like 3 times and force some restarts. Back to the actual reason I came by to check the forum, How's the camera stuff coming along?


EDIT 3: Well, now its saying charging, and frozen at 25, with the LED lit, even when unplugged. Is that a ROM issue?

No, I'm pretty sure it's a charging port issue...SB had the same issues, and got a new replacement phone.

Ugh. Then I have to get a replacement probably. Thing is, I bought it at a Best Buy. Soooooooo, I have no idea if I can get a hand on the receipt. I was just hoping this thing would last me until the Moto G came to the U.S.


Might end up getting the Desire if Best Buy won't replace it.

I'm actually a Geek Squad agent, did you buy protection on it? If so, or if it's within return policy Best Buy will replace it in-store, if not then there won't be anything they can do. If it's within 1 year the manufacturer will replace it.

Best Buy can only deal with manufacturer warranty for limited products.

Also, Best Buy can look up receipts.

Try calling VM's Tech support; you may get farther than you think. I got my son a Kyocera Rise from Best Buy last Christmas, it developed a problem back in August where it wouldn't turn on or accept a charge. Spent 10 min. on the phone with the tech. Ran the gamut of hoops to jump thru, and by Tue. that week (this was a Sun. at 7 pm), he had a replacement...no cost. They even sent a prepaid envelope to send the old one back to them!
I'd give it a shot...couldn't hurt...

Didn't get protection. Definitely gonna have to call Virgin.

I think I have like... a week tops before I hit the year mark. Hopefully it works out.

Well, 2.5 is still dis-allowing MMS...the very reason I stopped using it in the first place-so that's not an option.
Back to 2.4 I go....I have found that ADW Launcher does NOT play nice with this rom.
IDK why; but it was very 'squirrel-y'...would go from lagging to crashing. At least the stock 2.4, the touchscreen is consonantly working...

Edit: I should probably clarify after re-reading this...ADW (for me), does not play nice on v2.4...the way I scripted it yesterday makes it seem like I was referring to it not working on 2.5. Sorry for any confusion..

Yo Sox! why don't you call VM and ask if you can get a replacement and explain the constant issues you have had!
 
Also, these phones are tough...with my last reverb, i left it on top of my car, not a big car, just a taurus, and drove off with it on the roof...It fell off the roof and landed on the road, then a truck behind me ran over the phone and the truck behind him stopped and picked up the back cover, the battery, and the phone itself all seperately. The screen wasn't even scratched at all and the phone still worked like new...I didn't even realize i didn't have my phone for a couple days haha and then my brother messaged me on facebook and said, "some guy has your phone and he keeps calling us to try and get it to you...Moral of the story, these phones can take a hit.

I dunno...I guess that it's because if I did, I'd just be starting over from scratch only to arrive at the point I'm at now. The screens on the O.O.J.B. 4.1.2 Reverbs are still locking out (albeit occasionally), but it tells me that they're STILL FALLIBLE...

Now; If I had the money, and were given say...50% off the Supreme...:deal: I'd probably hit 'dat...;)

EDIT: I'm not too happy about the replacement that comes in. Literally just the phone. I got a replacement once before and that came with charger and battery. This feels like I'm being hustled. Also... what if it wasnt just the charger port? What if my battery was bad? Virgin would have to replace that too.

... they should just give me everything free! lol

Not sure, but I assume you were directing this at my post? If so, I'm trying to keep with the $0.00 apps, because if this phone is not going/able to adapt to newer versions of Android, I fail to see the logic in paying for something that will not work.
I tried the trial of Next, and I was getting a lot of lag, and some rendering issues, so I took it out. This was even with the Ani-kernel.

I also tried TSF 3D Shell. I do like the UI of that one; and didn't have any issues during the time I was 'trying' it out. But in order to get the best experience out of it...once again, you must purchase the app; so that one might be an option.
And I'm so broke right now (Christmas and all) I have a hard time paying attention. Oh well; c'est la vie!! :rolleyes:

I'm just trying to keep a non-locking, fully functional version of Android in this phone, and so far; over the last week or so; I've had ZERO screen freezes with PT JBS v2.4...so I'll be futzing around with this version for a while-probably until a stable newer version is available (or a different phone, whichever occurs first).

quick question...I'm trying to build pretty much any version of vanilla android ICS or up with ubuntu, and i don't have enough space because ubuntu would only let me have 30 GB of space, is there a way i could expand my partition without wiping it?

I don't think you can just move a partition (expand OR contract) on any form of storage media without re-formatting...but I'm not positive.
