Root [ROM] ZV4 updated stock ROM

Before I found your solution of ##update# I actually did ##72786# which I believe does something similar but wipes carrier configuration and reactivates and downloads your info again. It worked for me too. But I still can't manually update my prl/profile.
Doing ##update# did nothing for me after all this. No reboot, nothing. Bgamer, what happens if you run that code again? Will it do the same thing or nothing?
Edit: wait, which baseband are you on? C1? Or C8?

Hello Ive been trying to get this done and Ive had no luck. I have a pc for another hour. Is there anyone who would be willing to do team viewer with me, please? I wont have accesss to a computer for awhile! If not its cool. Ill keep trying!

What exactly are you having trouble with?

Does the same. I am on c1... for some reason the radio didn't update when I flashed v4.

Oh ok, so no ones on c8 except for me. Well, i finally got 4g working but I can't
Update my prl/profile. I haven't tested sending MMS yet but so far there's no problem and everything works, just no updating, but I am on the same prl version as you guys too. I created a flashable zip for the radio. I'll upload it later.

Everything....:(

That's not helping me, which step are you stuck at?

Im buying this phone new in a few, i will need to downgrade first correct? then just flash this? is the 4g thing yall where talking about the only problem?

Seems to be, and he's gotten around that. However, he is apparently the only one whose radio updated, everyone else still has the old one and is not having a problem other than the fact that it didn't update the radio.

i got the update to work. the hardest part was not in the instructions for those who are new to this. you have to install the fastboot/adb on PC and install the appropriate drivers so your phone can be interacted with through the PC Console.

after that it is a breeze. also superSU worked for rooting.

Thank You

How do you do that? I can backup mine since it decided not to update.

Well I found out that the radio image is actually a series of partitions, it can actually be opened up with an archive manager and each partition can be flashed in fastboot. I think the one that affects our baseband is the "modem" partition, aka non-hlos.bin. If you still want to back it up for reference:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/non-hlos.bin

Just wanted to let you guys know that the op has been updated with the new radio.
Also, remember when I said that I feel like my battery life is better? I found rpm.mbn inside radio.img and looked it up and found this http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36114-wip-rpm-explained-updated-2212013/

Good info, and yeah, the modem would designate the baseband. I should've caught this myself since I did a lot of modem flashing on my Samsung S2. Do you still need a copy?

so if we installed the original ROM before you posted the radio, do we need to install the radio or was it included in there already?

I don't NEED a copy, but it would be nice to have a backup for reference.

If you flashed this ROM you did not flash the radio. If you want the new baseband you must flash the new radio. You don't have to factory reset, just clear your cache and you should be fine. Oh and follow the rest of the steps for reactivating your phone.

I lost root after flashing the radio. I have the superuser app installed, but apps cannot request root. Unfortunately, it also restored the laf... so no fastboot. Any ideas?

That doesn't seem right... Try clearing cache and dalvik and rebooting?

I can't boot cwm anymore - the radio restored the laf partition like OP said it would. I just didn't expect to lose root along with it.

edit: Looks like not much I can do. Going to flash v3 using DL mode and start the process over again - this time I will flash SU after radio, not before.

That's odd because I just reflashed the radio last night and my root stayed in tact. Did cwm ask you if you wanted to restore root when rebooting? I think that actually breaks root.

I got it to work. here is a screenshot of fastboot on my pc. I was so happy to see cwm again! Started fresh and flashed the superuser zip you posted too. I followed your directions exactly, also I put my adb and fastboot folder in my user directory on windows, and created a folder called "phone" in my c: drive and placed cwma1.img in there so I could cd to it without confusing the path... Thanks a million donjuro for walking me thru it! :) now to debloat a little. I'll let you know how it's working.

First of all, a big thank you to donjuro and danhalen1. I was wondering why when I try to fastboot the cwma1.img file that it kept saying "cannot load 'cwma1.img': No error" even though I had the file in my sdcard and external sd card. Then I realized that I had to put the file on my laptop onto my "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" folder in my Program Files (x86) directory (I did not create a separate folder like Sands207 did in the c: drive). That solved everything.

Big thank you to danhalen1 who guided me to his posts (when I was in my inattentive state) and his ongoing development hopefully into a permanent CWM recovery for the LG Volt. I am still stumped as to why the LG Volt still does not have its own dedicated thread in XDA.

You can clear cache with stock recovery... Of course you can't do dalvik without root, which I wasn't thinking about when I said that. :p

It's never broken root for me, although I've never understood why it always asked that.

I'm going to try flashing just the modem and rpm and see what happens.

Sorry if I seem oblivious, but how? On the stock recovery, it actually says I am rooted but I don't see any options for deleting cache and the device is not recognized by fastboot.

Do you mean I should be trying to get a shell through adb? Because I did log into my phone with adb after updating and losing root, but everything important was set RO.

You're talking about download mode. I'm taking about recovery. Power + Vol-

You can also factory reset from there... That might fix it... But you'll lose all user data. Superuser should stay since it's a system app.

For those having issues updating prl/profile did you delete either of these files?

lgdmsclient.apk
lgupdatecenter.apk

I deleted those and lost the ability to update prl/profile. The first one is under /system/app and the other one is under /system/priv-app

I flashed the radio file the other night and it didn't break root for me either, but the radio number stayed the same. My 4g and 3g seem to be working okay so im not overly worried about it.
