Root Roms, Does anyone agree?

Ok, so i've been through just about every rom out there for my X. I've had atleast 1 issue with every one. Typically, lag is the worst thing. I had an issue with an install last week and had to SBF back to stock .340 and re-root. Since then, i've installed all my apps, deleted all the ones I didn't need, overclocked, all that jazz. I find that stock .340 with all I've done runs better than all these aftermarket roms. Its faster, no hesitation to anything, no lag, etc. Does anyone agree with this? I think I'm gonna stick with it for a while. (and my quadrant scores are just as good!)

i have talked to a friend of mine who swears by the same idea as you...i am not sure as i have never tried it since i love trying different roms ....quadrant means nothing imo but i have thought of trying this out myself(if i have the will power to give up Apex )lol:D

i know man, i loved apex. i was trying to give fission a shot and thats what started the screw up last week. i only added that quadrant in because it is a decent indicator on speed I think... like i said, i've tried them all and this just seems to work!

my only issue with apex was the accelerometer always seemed to be off. sideways when vertical, vertical when sideways... when i unlocked it was sideways for 3 seconds.. don't know what the deal with that was..

I sorta agree..i loved apex, but I could not get wifi to sleep. I installed twice, with nothin but the bare minium to get a rom installed.. and after apex I couldn't find a rom that felt right to me or as good as apex..so for now, no rom.

I am yet to encounter any large errors on Apex 1.3.1 except for pictures and videos not appearing in the gallery right away.

What I really wanted to say was, the Droid X is pretty new to Rom development. It takes a really long time for ROMS to be perfected and I thing eventually one will be perfect. If you look at the Eris, KaosFroYo is still being perfected but it's very close. I can't wait for a 100% blurfree ROM and/or the perfection of Apex.

i agree 100 %! i came to the x from the droid1. i loved romming that phone and got much better performance from them. with the x however, the stock rom seems to work the best for me. i have overclocked it to 1.1 and love it.

My phone has ran great before the update (save battery stats FC) and after, but my phone simply flies and has amazing battery life with the use of some ROMs. For any Blur element, there's a better market alternative. I did have soft reboots with Fission and ApeX prior to .340, but ApeX and GJ (currently running) have been solid after. Each person's phone will function differently, though. It's really about deciding which ROM provides you with what you want and wthich is the most stable/best suited for your phone. But, you should have LESS lag with the popular ROMs.. not more.

Even if stock is some how faster, there is no way I am going back to that ugly stock notification bar.

Just because your running a stock Rom doesn't mean you can't have a different notification bar. I love ApeX, stock lags bqd for me, ApeX is much smoother for me, although I never ditched all Tue bloat from stock, I installed roms to do that for me.

I Love running some ROMs, especially Apex and like right know GummyJar, but sometimes I miss stock 2.2.1, that's why I always have a current nanback up so I can jump back and forth form stock to a ROM.., or I just SBF... just cuz I can :D

I hate to be so blunt but you mean to say that you are surprised stock software runs better than mofified code? I was like you guys with my original droid; flashing every new rom that came out, throwing caution to the wind yadde yadde.

In the end I found that the stock software always runs better than any aftermarket garbage.

I run stock with BlackGlass and it's super fast, no problems, better than any phone I've ever owned. I have replaced the dialer with Dialer-One and replace the media player with MixZing and everything is awesome. Is BlackGlass not a ROM though? Maybe that's just a theme? not sure....

True, but then I get the "joy" of removing the bloatware myself.

For me I would trade a little lag (if there is some) for the extra customization options, but to each their own.

You are totally entitled to your opinion and I don't mean to sound blunt either but you don't have to come on a forum where devs work very hard to put out a rom or product for us to enjoy and call all their hard work "after market garbage"....some opinions are better left to self :D

The OG Droid has some amazing ROMs, and the stock isn't comparable to this MotoBlur. Furthermore, ROMs run better than stock for many of us BECAUSE the code has been modified, optimized, and slow, useless features removed. Sorry to be so blunt, but your opinon holds very little weight if your reasoning is that unaltered code would be better than work done by dedicated devs (at least the more experienced ones that bring the more popular ROMs).

I have a stock Nandroid in case I need to get back to stock/rooted .340 but it is not as fast as the ROMs like Fission, Apex and especially Gummy Jar. My quadrant scores on stock w/o OC are not as good as ROMs w/o OC. And ROMs w/OC just are screaming fast.

Maybe there really is some differences in these processors?

I just like to see how the ROMs run and are different and similar. Also love the themes for the different ROMs. Keeps it interesting.

And +2

To each their own, but MY aftermarket garbage blows OTA out of the water.. The speed difference is uncomparable.. THANK YOU Devs. Keep up the good work/garbage..

I dunno, either you are doing something wrong or you are comparing a clean stock .340 (with no apps/etc) to a fully loaded custom rom (lots of apps) and biasing your comparison.

I am running Apex and not getting any of the problems you speak of. A lot of people run into different problems with the roms which leads me to think that it is more likely user error/system variables that cause the problems.

If you haven't, try Apex 1.3.1 after an SBF.
