Hi, back again. Everything is going well. If anyone has changed the awful cricket boot animation and sound could you please tell me how you did it? Can I just use the ones in rom toolbox in write mode?

the sound can be deleted I thing it should be in the system folder I think. I don't know about the animation and i havent tried to change it. let me know if you are able to change it with rom toolbox.

I think I can leave the sound by changing the extension while using a different sound with the correct extension in case I need it in the future for whatever reason. If you don't hear from me in a few days it didn't work lol.

Yeah it should be in system/media/audio and it's a cricket. ogg file. Just change ogg to bak and on reboot you should have silence.

always do a full back up before changing something. It has saved my phone a a lot of times.

using es file explorer with root explorer turned on. When I go to system/media/audio there are four folders, alarms, notifications, ringtones,ui. I looked in all there's no cricket.ogg file. When I go to system/media there's the audio folder then a bootanimation.zip a bootsound.mp3 and a shutdown animation.zip. so I'm guessing I use the bootsound.mp3 right? Can I also change the shutdown animation?

Yeah, I would change animations through ROM toolbox, they have a ton of cool ones. As far as the bootsound file, I think that is it. Been a while since I did it. Try changing the extension, let me know if it works

Do we actually need this new twrp? How is it better than the twrp we already have? I sure hope we can get marshmallow. I'm so jealous of the grandmax lol.

Um back again. I tried the switcher app it went to twrp. I went into file manager and deleted the folder, then I went to apps, clicked on broken switcher to delete the data but there wasn't any data. The count was 0 with no option to delete. There was stuff in the cache though so I deleted that but I got the same results. I tried it three times no luck.

I replied to your post in the other thread. You need to have busybox installed to /system/xbin and you can't be switched out when you pull the images. My answer on the other thread is a little more detailed so you might want to check that out. Also, I posted a link to a twrp flashable busybox zip that you can use to install busybox if you aren't switched. It is in the other thread as well if you go back a few posts from where your post is at.

Don't be. I don't think we have Marshmellow yet. ZMAX is lucky though. Hopefully Grand X has the same custom ROM built like for example, The Youtube video Chief87 posted. But that may take a while.

We have a new Switcher app for the zte zmax that you guys running lollipop rooted can use. Here is a link to the thread. http://androidforums.com/index.php?posts/7268089

We also have twrp 3.0.1-0 now that you guys can probably use since you've been using twrp made for the zmax for a while now. Here is a link to the thread for that. http://androidforums.com/index.php?posts/7268558

Here is a video I did explaining how to use the Broken Switcher app.
hello masterchief87 do you know any custom ROM that work with this phone?

would installing a third party Camera work install of the system camera app. Or there's no way around that.
No the z970 and z987 have different camera hardware(8mp&2mp vs 13mp&5mp) so they require different camera libs and a different kernel so no camera app will work unless the ROM is compiled specially for the z987.

I know everyone's tired of hearing this .. But is there going to be a root for grand x max plus z987 anytime in the foreseeable future? Thanks in advance.
