Root {ROOT} Incredible...Please close thread.

As posted in the comments on Jake's site:

Installing the superuser.apk like a regular application is something anyone can do. Seriously, try it. Get the apk, drop it on your sdcard, then install it like any other apk. It installs fine.

It won't actually function, however, beyond bringing up a blank list. It certainly doesn't mean you got root. About all it's good for is making a video like the one Jake Day just posted, and/or using that video to screw with people.

A video of it granting root permissions to some other application would mean something, but what Jake Day posted is not that.

Acid jake just posted proof or what he calls proof. I really don't know much but to me it just like a video of a super user app. That still does not mean anything right? You guys will know more than me. Here is video in ?

YouTube - Rooted Incredible?

Hadn't seen that or talked to him since friday, it really isn't proof since we can all download that Apk.....
Let me try and get him and I will report back :)

Out of context video is out of context. <sigh>

I know he kinda came off as though he had root, then didn't: but it doesn't mean we have to start making up lies and bashing him.

Firstly, I don't delete posts. I think that should be plenty clear by all the cussing, bashing, and straight up odd posts.

Secondly, it is now clear that people don't read before posting.

Lastly, I'm working on root right now. Again, this is only the second day I have ever worked on an Incredible and I made it clear before that I have not tested kernels or anything else on the Incredible. With that said, I have heard back from my friend but he did not send me how he rooted or how he was testing, but he did send a video showing Superuser Permissions on the Incredible. I won't post it and you should know why...

Back to working on root (which I have been doing with a few other devs)...

I said the kernels were tested, but not tested by me. Not sure how that would have been possible without me having an Incredible at the time...

And "obvious reasons" apparently are not obvious. I mean crap... I'll post a video up anyway and you'll see...

You want to see a video?

YouTube - Rooted Incredible?

Now tell me the obvious reasons...

Jake Day wrote on 05/30/10 10:01 AM
Which is why I said I wouldn't post what he sent me for "obvious reasons". Too easy to fake...

And for those who simply cannot read or understand anything that isn't perfectly clear...

THAT VIDEO IS NOT PROOF OF ROOT! IT IS JUST AN EASILY FAKED VIDEO TO PROVE A POINT TO THE GUYS WHO COULDN'T FIGURE OUT OBVIOUS REASONS.

Progress on root is coming along, though.

He knew the video was worthless, and called it out BEFORE posting the video.

Yes, he can be quite a jerk, and people are being jerks to him too. EVERYONE needs to just drop the whole Jake thing and get back on topic.

everyone needs to hop off jakes schlong. with you people flaming all the devs we are never going to get root. stay on topic or get the **** out the forum NUFF SAID!

fake or real?

Whether or not the guy actually does have root he's a complete douche. And as such I wouldn't believe him until, he posts instruction, someone trustworthy can follow and achieve root for themselves.

The most likely scenarios are :

1. He is just milking folks for money. (He already got a free incredible)

2. He has root and is trying to figure out a way to milk more money out of people.

Considering, his attitude, the BEST thing that could happen for the community is one of the other DEV's over at XDA that IS respectable, breaks the Dinc in the next couple days.

What the hell? How do you know what he will do. I bet he releases this root tomorrow, but people like you should just let up.

Do you think...,or do you know? Sounds like the one with a bad attitude is you. Stop making up things that don't exist. All it does is start up drama. I'm sure people don't want to hear it.

I'm a realist, you can live with your head in the clouds if you want. The guy is a pompous ass. that much is for sure...

this is great, since the incredible is rooted, how easy will it be to install froyo on my incredible. Basically will someone post step by step instructions for the incredible exactly (both to root & to install froyo) for a newbee.

Please be gentle :-)

You guys rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
