Root [ROOT KIT] OPTIMUS M 2.2.2 (Dummy-proof-3-click)

i just bought an optimus m+ from metro with gingerbread 2.3.6 on it i dont want to brick it. is there a root kit for this version of gingerbread on this model?

I tried like 3 times to root my phone and it factory reset my phone. I lost all constacts, apps, etc.
what I did wrong? I follow all the steps. I was unsure of the usb storage feature but it was unchecked, still it doesn't root my phone.

Yes. Still it factory reset my phone after restart.

Do you have optimus m drivers installed? Have you rebooted computer since installing drivers? Reboot computer anyways though...this usually fixes it all...wait, do you have a microsd card in the phone? You MUST have one in the phone.

Yes Sammy, I have an microsd in the phone, also i have the driver, dunno if it is an older version tho. When I ran the bat file it says that it was rooted, but it is not. Superuser is not in my apps list.

Please post a link with a copy of the optimus m driver, i will try again in another computer; lets see what happens this time. Btw my android is version 2.2.2 (LG optimus M). :(

This is to inform that the problem that chusett had, it happened to me also. This patch can work for some phones, but it can wipe your phone also (Optimus M - Android version 2.2.2); and the malicious thing this patch can do, is that after you reboot your phone, go to recovery and everything is gone. It deletes everything in the phone, also your contacts on google as soon you login with your account.

Here is my last post about it. (copy/paste my own post) from the help topic.

ok guys, I tried everything, enable debugging, disabling sotarage, format my microsd, i tried in two three different computers, and nothing. Usb drivers work fine. This patch doesn't root my phone, but instead it creates a root folder in microsd with files that i cannot open because something is missing, the only file that i can open is superuser older version.

I am totally sure that this bat patch was not made for Optimus M
(says S in the description) and it can wipe all your phone if you try to go the recovery. (already some users reported it). So it works for only some OM versions. Several have my same problem.

I think this patch is unsafe for people who doesn't know what they are doing, so be careful with it. I don't recommend you to use it.

Check the STATUS of ZERG above, this exploit depends on a
condition which doesn't always hit

If you see

[-] Zerglings did not leave interesting stuff

Then the exploit did NOT work during this pass

After reboot you'll need to RE-RUN the root install script
It may take SEVERAL attempts before the condition hits

If you see

[+] Rush did it ! It's a GG, man !

Then the exploit was SUCCESSFUL. Script will reboot, then you are DONE!

Keep in mind, should you CHOOSE to run "su", you will be prompted
for permission on the phone's screen during the first run. If you
do not ALLOW this prompt you will get a "permission denied" error

turn ON phone
make sure you have EXITED the lock screen
run "su" from "adb shell"
accept the prompt on the phone's screen asking for root permissions

It is NOT required to run "su". You ARE ROOTED regardless.

Hi Sammy,
i received this message: remount failed: Operation not permitted

Oh, duh. I forgot, that only works once you're rooted..... You can downgrade to 2.2.1 and then root with gingerbreak, or you can reflash stock 2.2.2, it may just be a simple defect in the phone software...

How can I reflash it. Does reflash means deleting all my apps, etc again like a hard reset?? :(

so i tried following the 3 click root but my phone still wont go to andriod 2.2.2. i also couldnt find the link for the download for the driver software idk if that has something to do with it. any help would be greatly appreciated. i was able to get the superuser thing on my phone but like i said the andriod running version wouldnt change.

You need to clear up some internal memory by moving what you can move to the SD card to free up some memory and then you should be able to install the apps you want to. You should also think about upgrading to the 2.2.2 and using the 3 click root here to root the phone also. to give you more control on being able to move apps to the SD card and more control on other apps you can use on your phone as well as give you more control over the phone in general.
