I'm going to attempt to make a one stop shop so newbs don't have to search xda. Thus building our phones community and available resources on Android forums.

Important kernels and link to xda repository

***TW Jelly Bean***

These 4 repacked kernels are for they're leaked JB ROM counterparts that don't come with a recovery. They need to be flashed via Odin or mobile Odin after you are on that particular ROM. (I use mobile Odin religiously)
These 3 kernels have small issues and should only be used to flash zips and make backups and restores. Then flash the stock kernel for that rom. They won't hurt anything but you will be unhappy as some of your installed apps say they aren't installed.

Kernels are Android Version Specific. If you flash an ICS one on a JB or GB rom your phone will not boot. You will be able to boot into the recovery that that kernel had in it and flash the correct one. Or flash one that you Made a Backup with and restore that backup.

***Modems***

As of now the aosp JB roms cannot use Jb modems. They require an ICS modem or below.
And TW based JB roms require a JB modem.
BUT DONT WORRY. IN BOTH CASES YOU WILL ONLY END UP WITH NO 3G UNTIL YOU FLASH THE RIGHT MODEM

Other than those 2 exceptions Modems are universal and can be used on any rom. Even crossing Android versions. For instance you can use any GB modem on any ICS rom. And vice versa

Recommended Apps for all My Rooted Compadres. Not all of them will be root specific. But they will be added because myself or other members of AF have determined them to be useful.

There will be NO posting of sideloaded Download links to Paid App Versions in this Thread!! That is called Pirating and is against Forum Rules. Google Playstore links for Paid Apps are ok But i will always try to stick with free versions unless there is no free version and its that useful

This is a mod used on root box ROM that gives you the ability to change the DPI of individual apps. Can be used on ANY rom. Do not change the Google play store dpi without installing the multi DPI version of the app store. As changing it's DPI will make many apps say not compatible with your device. Everything else is fair game. Gives you a paranoid android experience on any ROM

***Known issues and fixes***

Nothing will be posted here without a definite fix that is tested and confirmed. You don't have to worry about getting an inaccurate suggestion from a random person that has no clue what they are talking about!! This fix database will grow over time!!

You need to look for the symptom your having here and see if yours matches. 9 out of 10 times your issue will be specific to your ROM or rom type here. Like aosp roms tend to have annoying little issues.

Thanks. I think it's necessary to pioneer it. This may move AFs forum for this phone up because I think I've covered everything to the point where everything from xda is at the fingertips here. We'll see how useful it is when we can just point people here now

Yeah I remember you from the warp forums. And I agree the warp forum was more active. Not as much anymore as I still keep up over there.

The reason this forum isn't as active is all of our ROMs and stuff all come from xda. We use everything for sprints Samsung epic 4g touch as it's the exact same phone. We don't have any boost s2 specific Devs right now. But it's OK because we have loads of development to use from sprint versions thread. I made this thread in an attempt to help bring android forums thread to life. Building our information data base to par with xda. As long as I keep this thread current everyone else won't have the need to search xda as those of us that got this phone first had to.

Thank you so much for putting this together. When I saw it I was like "YES!":car: because it was definetly needed. Everytime I tried for something it was a link to XDA in some random post.

Well hopefully I can figure out how to root this thing soon and start playing around.

No problem... Getting root is pretty easy
Just follow the root guide and create a thread to ask questions if needed.
Most of the root process is just getting the computer to recognize the phone so you can use Odin. The Odin part is to install a kernel with a custom recovery. Then when you boot into that recovery you flash the superuser zip and bam your done.. You will have a yellow triangle on the boot screen but we will tell you how to get rid of that when the time comes

I saw a bunch of diffrent versions/names there....and is it the .zip or the .tar?

Tar is always Odin. And zips will only flash in custom recoveries.

See i have the zip on my SD card and the merge test one is the kernel for all jb aosp ROMs

Awesome! thank you! ill be getting both now.....by any chance are you including a link to a Gs2 boostmobile stock rom.....or do you how i could put the phone back to stock if for what ever reason i need to, like if I get a new phone and want to sell it or something
