Root root,s-off,simunlock,superCID htc merge

Also should I extract the the files from the mini_adb.zip contents to the c:/ drive or leave it alone? Also I can try an diffrent computer the md5 sums all matchfor the files should I try the eng_miniadb_merge.zip file and see if something changes? I will post all the cmds I've done all programns I've used and everything that is displayed in my hboot screen and I will try the other computer my laptop has a xp and is a few years old I never used it had a desk top its out dated but fresh lol thanks for all your help man if you need help automotive wise or credit card information id be more than help to advise

if you are on the 1.23.605.1 software then youre ready for 6 and that set of commands.

what conflicting info are you getting? it sounds to me like something is running on your pc that wasnt before,as you got thru the first part with no issue.

the fact that its hanging and not giving you any responses at all is whats making me think that. adb will give very specific error messages if the files arent in the corrcet place,or are the wrong type of file,or if the commands are wrong.

no,you definately should not extract miniadb_merge to your c drive. leave the file just as it worked the first time around.

im not sure what youre refering to with "eng mini adb_merge". the file in the OP ,merge_eng_su_toolkit, is what you can use to root the upgrade firmware,its not the same as miniadb_merge.

if you cant figure out whats running on your pc thats interfering,then try the laptop. dont worry,we will figure this out :)
 
Okay I get home this evening and wouldn't you know my internet is down damn comcast okay so some of the conflicting information is in the hboot window immediatly after step 5 this is what I getting in the hboot window

Normal hboot screen for appromixatly 15 to 20 seconds and the this is flashes up on the screen

Above cycles 3 times the 3rd time

This flashes once or twice I can't recall exatctly and then it has a load bar when it is done

The top portion radio hboot s-on lexikon all that is there thru out the whole process just didn't feel like typing it out again from my phone damn you comcast anyways

Hboot

Parsing... (SD Zip)
(1) Bootloader it loads and goes to the next step
(2) Radio_VZ same after it loads it goes to next step
(3) Boot it loads after this step the phone restarts in goes to next step
(4) Recovery it does pretty much the rest to either unzips and loads or goes to next step
(5) System same as the rest
(6) Splash1 same process unzips loads goes to next step
(7) Partiton same thing
(8) Userdata same again
(9) TP this one gets skipped all together
(10) TP this one unzips loads and the phone does a almost factory reset makes me call the activation line and this where I'm stuck at can't go any further past this point I try step 6 and I get error message now I have not tried it by checking file extensions or the other things you have suggested I apologize if the steps above not 100% accurate because I couldn't type them as they occured I had to write them down on paper

Let me know what you think it maybe so I can work on getting past this point I won't give up halfway there I've got way too much time invested in this downloading files weeks reading and reading and reading all the post in this thread and on another forum then to top it off the old 1.25. Whatever software is terrible slower than the old android eris I had before my merge and it use it on my breaks at work and I keep getting @Drm error notification :o
 
the above is exactly what you see when an RUU flshes. as i explained to you,you are ready for step 6,you dont need to do anything else.

what you are doing is reflashing the downgrade software over and over :eek:

what youre seeing is not hindering the steps from completing in step 6,it is completely normal. the .82 hboot is the correct hboot for the old vzw software.

again,i beieve you to be having trouble becasue of something running on your PC. otherwise your commands would result in error messages,not a freeze,or hang.

you can try changing usb cables and ports on the pc,and you can try re-downloading miniadb_merge,just to make sure it hasnt somehow become corrupt. but again,i believe that tehre is something on your PC that is messing with you,what was not running before.

you are indeed just a few commands away from radio s-off and superCID. youre almost there :)
 
Thanks man I appreciate all time you have spent helping me with your awesome this I'm not the smartest when it comes smartphones and so I will make another go at this when I can get my internet back up and running I have been talking to comcast all morning I get a connection to my network but can't get the devices to connect to my router comcast has been blaning the router all morning a swapped them out and I hardly believe both of my routers are bad

awsome! glad you got it. its easy enuff to add the vzw or vodaphone boot animation boot animations,and its easy to remove any usc or ntelos bloat or branding.

unortunately,im not enuff of a dev to know how to give full vzw capabilities. alot of the vzw apps will work by simply installing them from the market. others will not. my vzw is a good example... ive tried adding some files from the vzw froyo rom,but apparently there is more to it than that :mad:

im afraid for now youll need to stick with froyo if you want working my vzw,etc.

you can download all the google stuff(maps,search,etc) and give bing the boot,if it makes it any easier to deal with :D

Can you provide me the where I can get the Vodafone boot animations what I need to replace the one and how can Ithe update the Android market to Google play on the us cellular gingerbread ruu?

not sure where you can find the vodaphone boot animations.

changing them is easy,they are in a bootanimation.zip or usc-bootanimation.zip or similar,and all youll need to do is swap out the .zips.

you can use root explorer or the equivalent,and the bootanimation.zip should live in system/customize/resource

you could add the vzw boot animation by loading that ruu. find the vzwbootanimation and then send it to yourself,or simply copy it and paste it onto your sd card. then boot back to the usc ruu,delete the boot animation,and then copy/paste the vzw animation from the sd card.

the market should update itself if you open it a few times. :)
 
Okay I was just curious I down loaded a bunch of my old apps I was just wondering what was the command to update it I'm running the highest updated version of us cellulars gingerbread I just wanted something that would be like getting a whole new phone its so much better than the original operating system than the phone came with again

I can't get the Android market to update to google play market

Do i have to remove the uscellular .zip after it upgraded to the Android 2.3.4 or will the Android market not update because Verizon can't send updates to the phone?

Did you ever encounter this problem Mr scotty?
 
Just a little confused as to why it won't work I did notice when I had the downgraded Verizon 1.23 software zip file in it wouldn't upgrade either I just hate the Android market it seems it didn't upgrade to google playeither and the clock wiget everytime I unlock the screen has to calibrate

I'm just curious as what I need to do next I have the customizing my phone fever now
 
hmm,ive never seen the market not update itself. maybe something do do with the binged out software ;)

later ill make a copy of the google play .apk and you can try and isntall it. for now im in my way to work :(
 
I was able to get the app to update via a qr barcode off a Verizon forum.

I have not been able to send picture messages or mms however I can recieve them is it because I am running the us cellular rom I am on a Verizon carrier?

Any imput would greatly be appreciated it won't allow me to go in and modify the mms settings
 
Oh I forgot to mention is there a way fix this without going back to verizons froyo I hate to say it but I really really prefer the theme customization and drawer a lot better with gingerbread if there is a mms app of if you know of a fix easily obtainable id much rather go that route than downgrade lol


Much better yet id really like someone who knows how to create Rom or a ruu whatever the correct term is that can create a gingerbread Verizon program for the merge is pay good money for this as is like to have access to Verizon specific apps without forcing me to go back to froto its just sad how verizon said no to any real update

The gingerbread 2.3.4 is so much better than 2.2 the HTC themes are so much cooler I like being able to modify my theme and taskbar I like the option to change things I don't anything stock my cars are more parts have been changed that what came on em same way with my computers and all other gagets

I hooked id be willing to work with whom ever I needed to make such a custom Verizon program that way you still have full Verizon functionality yet the ability to make changes if you don't like something

After a week I've noticed a 25% increase in battery life after the mod also overall phones ability to load websites and do anything commanded there is no 5 second delay which is nice

Mr. Scotty you have extremely willing to help an Android newbie and you are a kind
If you know anyone will to tackle such a task let em know I'm willing to throw money at creating such a upgrade as mentioned above I'm sure I'm not the only one either

Also is there a even more updated operating system that could be made to work with these phones or is the 2.3.4 the max the phone can handle?

it is s simple APN prollem. a couple pages back a user posted his solution. it was basically:
1)restore vzw froyo. make sure mms is working both ways(send/recieve)
2)download apn backup and restore
3)backup vzw apns
4)restore usc backup
5)download apn backup
6) *make sure to delete apns first
7)restore vzw apns

mms should work now

as far as roms,you might try and rally other users on xda and at 2FastRoms and then see if you can find any developers willing to work on the merge if you get them a device.

I get to step 5 where just before it says in the command killing advanced and stays there. Mine never says killing everything else looks identical to What you have. I am on us cellular and I made 2 different goldcards and tried them both same thing each time. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong.

you will just need to use fre3vo for temp root instead of zergRush :)

hi there, i was just wondering if any of you could help me out. Im using an HTC Merge on GSM mode (with my SIM), my carrier 3G band is 850/1900 (Claro in the Dominican Republic) however, im only getting EDGE connectivity. Is there anywhere i can check whether the 850 band is disabled ? Also, I've tried a second SIM from a different carrier which should work on EDGE ( cant remember the band it uses, but this phone is GSM quad band right?) but it just fails to connect, I've made sure i'm using the correct APN settings as i am able to browse the internet just fine on my other phones (sony ericsson xperia). The merge says USCellular on the back and after trying the stock USC rom I am now trying the leaked Verizon rom, i've managed to root / S-OFF and everything following this guide.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the merge i do not believe is inteded to be a world wide GSM device,its really only intended for cdma use,along with the ability for vacationers to use gsm voice services outside the us where cdma frequencies are scarce.

vzw uses the 800 and 1900 bands for voice and 3g. using the merge on att,cin bell,or t mobile here in the states only gets edge data,due to the lack of the correct physical radios in the merge. seems what you are experincing is consistant with this.

hate to say it,but using the merge with gsm edge is prolly as good as it gets for data. at least you have voice,sms,and some for of data. its better than nothing! :)

Ah, no wonder, thanks for clearing that up, I was going crazy. I thought it was just like the Droid 2 Global I used to have.

droid 2 global vs htc merge is an apples to oranges comparison,im afraid. the droid 2 prolly contained different radio hardware and was a truly more global device. :)

if you can live with the edge data,the merge is a neat little phone,IMO :smokingsomb:
