Root ROOTING For Dummies Guide.....the Gingerbread Edition

I was running revolutionary as my user (on linux), but it needed to run as root to get it to do the right thing. ;)

Brand new to the android community (about 2 weeks) and have been foaming at the mouth to finally get this done. Just wanted to say thank you to the devs for taking time out to bring this to us and to ocnbrze for following them and keeping us all up to date.

Confirmed S-OFF on phone, steps up at the top of the post are incredibly easy to follow, so thank you for that as well!

If anyone can refer me to a good sticky or post where people go over the more stable ROMs (maybe something with sense 3.0 features??) I would really appreciate it!

Works perfect! S-off, clockworkmod recovery, and nandroid backup achieved! Thanks to all who worked on this. Now, on to Titanium Backup and removing bloatware.
 
Ok guys im getting a "Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted. Try Again." In Revolutionary, Has any had this problem yet?
 
kk ocnbrze i got it working after revolutionary did the s-off it closed. i decided to open it again and it asked me if i wanted it to flash clockworkmod. =] thanks for the help.
