Root ROOTING For Dummies Guide.....the Gingerbread Edition

Got myself rooted rather quickly. The instructions were easy to follow. Thanks to everyone who made this possible! Now, on to looking up ROMs. :D
 
Yea got it done have super user and S off. The people the are having problem with invalid key just copy and paste on office world and check is letter it took about 15 try and finally got it right.

I too am having the Communications interrupted problem. I have Usb Debugging on and I haven't installed Htc Sync. I also have the file from your tutorial on the root of my Sd card. Can you help me?
 
ok guys im stuck. II downloaded the revolutionary tool I have htc sync installed but i still downloaded htc drivers through the link. I un zipped the revolutionary to the desk top but when I run the exe file the cmd window flashes on and off for like a half a second I have no time to read whats there. What am I doing wrong?
 
Anyone having issues getting to recovery? Root is complete, have S-Off & Superuser, but phone isn't responding to Power Vol Down when off.

Mine did that at first too. Uninstall HTC Sync through control panel, I did that and it worked.
 
The black box just says "waiting for device" I'm stuck before even starting.
drivers are installed, No htc sync.

MNW, make sure you downloaded and placed the superuser zip file in the topmost directory of your phone's SD card. Other than that just try restarting after you've installed the HTC drivers and all that good stuff.
 
hey everyone, been lurking around for quite a long time now and i'm glad i took a step to join the best forum ever. i followed the steps to the letter but i keep getting invalid beta key, i don't know if we are all using the same keys but if its possible i could try another person's key....just saying or if there's anyother advice i'd really be glad. tried over 30 times by the way.

copy the key and then paste it in the exe by right clicking the top and choosing paste as option
 
Srry guys im real bad noob i hear of rooting and been following the thread to wait for a root but now unfortunatly the guide i see is to complicated for me to follow right would anyone be willing to help me out with pretty much a step by step guide

try unistalling htc sync from your computer. also turn off any anti-virus programs you have running.

see above and try and redownload the file

try running revolutionary again
