Root ROOTING For Dummies

Thaks Piiman. I'm a newbie to the Evo so forgive me in advance for asking silly questions.

from what I see, the HBOOT number is 'hboot-2.10.0001' is this the HBOOT that's unrootable? Is there a workaround?

I'm sure this was asked before. I'm on a custom rom and was wondering how do I go back to the orginal if I don't like the custom? Yes I backed up the original.

Boot into recovery. Then select restore back up and chose the nand back up you would like to restore.

Im not very familiar with all this stuff but i got my phone rooted for the wifi but i dont ever use it so i was trying to unroot but find it impossible. Ive downloaded the two files and was trying to drag and drop to my sd card but my files did not show sd card anywhere.. I am stuck at this point if anyone could help thanks

Make sure the files are named correctly and you didn't unzip them correct?

I'm in the process to 'root' my phone. I'm at the 'unrEVOked recovery reflash tool' splash screen. It's waiting for device but I've already plugged in my phone and turned on USB debug. the 'found new hardware wizard' show s up but dont' but nothing else...

Did you download the drivers prior to running unrevoked? What software version and hboot do you have? Hboot 2.02 and 2.10 are not rootable via unrevoked.

So can newer evo's be rooted? I see there is a certain hboot number that can't but can you still apply the s-off and flash a rooted ROM if you have one of these HBOOT revisions that are unrootable?

Yes they can be rooted, however not by unrevoked. I don't have the thread handy on the root method but if you head over to xda they have it there.

Can someone help me in unrooting... section 7 step 4

I have the files ready to transfer to my evo from my computer but do not know where to put the zip files
Thanks

Thank you for helping im just alittle confused when i plug in the evo and bring all the files up there is no spot that says sd card. can i drag and drop the zip files anywhere in the evo files

Is there a trick to getting Astro file explorer moving a file into the root of the SD card? I downloaded a Sprint ROM zip file from XDA and copied it into my Download dir of the SD card. Couldn't copy it into the root for some reason. And Astro doesn't seem to want to copy into the root of the SD either.

Someone here might know but I have no idea how to do it with astro. Why not do it with your pc?

Hey guys, long time no see!

Well, I got a question. (If its been asked before, sorry for being lazy :p)
Well my question is, how do I change my splash screen? Not the boot screen, the screen before that ("HTC Evo 4G" Screen.)
Thank you guys very much! :)
