Well I am actually accessing the web on my phone via wireless router. And I looks like I have to turn off the phone's wireless feature to run the Barnacle on the phone. So even though I see the Barnacle connection from my laptop (among the wireless connections) I Barnacle is not connected the web. Make sense? Anyway, I will stay up all night until I get this. But Thanks a Billion for your help Joser!!!!

Yes I can log to the wireless Barnacle network from my laptop. The problem is that my phone is getting to the web by picking up a wireless router signal. And the barnacle app wont work on the phone while my phone is also accessing the web via wireless network. So if I turn off my phone's ability to access the web via wireless, then barnacle will work but my phone is not online. It is like trying to send a wireless signal to my phone then thru Barnacle to my laptop.

I was in the mountains here in AZ over the Christmas Holidays and was really bummed that I couldn't use my phone as a router.

For the last 3 days I have been trying to get tether set up so when I am on the road, I wont have to go through the set up headaches that I did today. I thought direct connection via USB would be more efficient than hoping to rely on wireless connections. But thanks to you, my phone is rooted now. So that seems to have been the biggest step. I will be requesting a refund from Tether.com and will keep working on this next step.

Can you disconnect your phone from your router and use your carrier's 3g internet? Then tether.

I actually just purchased this phone on Thursday and have not yet activated it for phone service. But it has instant wireless service without activation. I wanted to make sure that I could actually tether the phone before I activated the service. Otherwise, I was just going to return the phone. Ok Joser. I am so glad for your help. I am logging off. But I will definitely look you up on the live chat in the future

Barnacle will do that. When you're traveling, start barnacle and you will be able to use your phone's internet on your laptop.
