Root [S-OFF] LazyPanda S-OFF for LTEvo[Locked or Unlocked devices]

If it is bricked like last night then....

Enter -

sudo ./brickdetect.sh

You will get output similar to the following:

The bricked device is on /dev/sdX

In the terminal type the command

sudo ./PandaFinder -d /dev/sdX

Where /dev/sdX is the value obtained from the output of brickdetect.sh

Do not say "/dev/sdX" - say the exact string you saw that goes with the red, above.

It might look like

/dev/sdc

or something like that.
 
And this is really important - you did NOT take the recent OTA and you ARE rooted already - correct?

And you installed the 32-bit Ubuntu, not the 64-bit Ubuntu?

If you don't remember, tell me what -

uname -a

gives you.

Yes, it will always fail the first time after a brick recovery. Mine did every time. It womn't rebrick you for this error. ;)

Unplug your phone and give it a minute or two and see if the SD card contents will restore. They "should" come back. If the memory card doesn't happen to come back for some reason, you'll need to reformat it before attempting again.

If you need to reformat it, go under Settings / Storage now go down to Storage Card and select "unmount storage card" after it thinks for a minute you'll see Erase storage card become active. Select this and click yes or ok.

After the card is reformatted, go through the steps to run FeedPanda again.

It does not detect a device when I run brickdetector. The phone works at this point (just made a call to confirm) the only issue is now the sd card is "blank".

I did not take the OTA...

I installed the 64 bit ubuntu but also added the 32 bit libraries like the unlimited site said I should.

uname -a gives me linux ubuntu 3.2.0-23-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Tues Apr 10 20:39:51 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Did nt detect on any of my ports...phone is calling perfectly but sd card i still "blank"

Follow Granite's instructions about the sd card, then retry -

sudo ./FeedPanda

Seriously, I try and explain to people how the Evo community is the best around but no one listens. The Samsung forum sucked :D

Tommorrow I will load the custom recovery and all the rest of the jazz...I need to rest my mind for Batman goodness! Oh and I need to copy over the contents of my sd card backup so my phone doesnt feel so naked :)
 
Awesome! Don't forget to run regaws bootloader customizer to make it say s-on and ***locked*** again :D

HTC doesbt know what they're up against :cool:
 
So, I tried to do this with the Charmeleon ROM, the phone froze, I had to restart it. It seemed to work okay, although it still had S-ON. I was able to boot into the bootloader, into recovery, use the phone as normal, etc. Then I shut it down so I could swap out the SD card and try again after doing some tweaks, and now it won't turn back on. Did I just brick my phone completely?

No. You will need to make an Ubuntu cd, boot from that and run the unbricker.
 
Okay, I'm downloading Ubuntu now. I've had a mini heart attack because I have no insurance on the phone. On the plus side, I do still have a Nexus S 4G to use as a backup phone so I'll at least have something.
 
You'll be ok, they are claiming a 100% success rate on the unbricker.

I may not be around much, so here are your tips -

On the page where you downloaded FeedPanda, there's a link to FindPanda in the words about bricking, not among the links at the bottom.

In Ubuntu, go there with Firefox and download FindPanda.tar.gz.

Open a terminal window, then -

cd Download

tar zxf *gz

Then go back a few posts here, you'll see my post about how to run it, and notes from Granite, he's been there.

Then try again, you'll be ok. ;) :)
 
I used the video on that site and it worked first time. Thanks again for saving my bacon on that one! Now the question is, should I load a different ROM like Viper to try and get S-OFF, or does Charmeleon work?
 
Charmeleon worked fine for me.

Give it another go. :)

Granite warned earlier to expect some wonky error right after the unbricker. His post on that isn't far back. Hope this helps!
 
Trying it again now. It's doing the same thing it did before. It says "Eating bamboo (x/45) <device may reboot if panda is hungry>." Then it reboots the phone and my phone gets stuck on the splash screen. Then the program says "Waiting for device" and just keeps counting up. Not sure how long to let that sit. Doesn't look like the phone is doing anything.
 
Update your your bootloader to LazyPanda 1.12.2222 and make sure that you go for TWRP 2.2.0, links just a little ways up in the thread.

Do I need to load TWRP if I already previously rooted through Regaw's method? I already have TWRP on my phone at this point.
