Root [S-OFF] LazyPanda S-OFF for LTEvo[Locked or Unlocked devices]

Yes, mine did too.

Took my new laptop about 5-10 to load from the live CD. It's a quad core with 8gigs RAM, new fast Blu-Ray dvd burner drive thingey, still took a hot minute.

I'll also recommend running the tool in Ubuntu, this way if a temp brick does occur, Ubuntu is already loaded. ;)
I was using an old Pentium 4 machine and it took a while to load Ubuntu. Maybe you might try running a live CD instead of trying a USB stick. Ubuntu is definitely the way to go. No silly drivers to have to worry about and EM has all the commands in the order you need them a few posts back.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I tried again and it sat for 2 hours at the 5 red dots. So I think it's getting stuck.

I'll see if I can get a Live CD to work. Of course first I need to get some CD's.

Might take a day or so.

Thanks again for the help everyone!

Well I have some new on the Ubuntu front.

I tried a few more times to get a USB to work with 12.04 and it wouldn't work.

This morning I was able to find 10.04 and load it onto my USB and it booted right up. So I should be set to try for S-off. Unless there would be a reason to not use 10.04. Does anyone have any thoughts on why it wouldn't be a good option?
I don't remember reading anything about 10.04 being not good for it.

I feel much better about it.
I think this will be done Monday and then I can get the new radio's and firmware after updating the Hboot and TWRP.

So long as there's not a library dependency from their compilation step, you should be good to go - make sure it's the 32-bit version or you'll have to go fetch the 32-bit libraries.

To every 1 in this trend after bricking my LTE 3 week ago with Ubuntu I ran the windows version after reading every thing I could and now I have S-Off windows XP service pack 3 just a FYI on my machine Thanks again All now to back up and find a rom. :smokingsomb:

I think it is a 32 bit. I knew to look for that and I'll double check.

Also if I follow the posts #183-200 that should include all of the commands I need to do this and give a step by step?

Thanks again for the help. I'm looking forward to doing it now and don't feel as nervous about it.

Just started running it. ON my Dell laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 on a USB.

So far,

Nice Lazy Day!!!!!!!!!

S-Off Success!!!

Wow That was awesome!!

I did use the commands on post 183 and 188

Thanks so much EarlyMon and Granite!!

First time using Ubuntu. Neat stuff. I've learned that I can't run anything newer than 10.04. On 11.04 Firefox wouldn't stay open for more than 10 seconds.

A little nerve racking but it worked! Thanks again to all who contribute here!!

I've been out of the loop for the past few weeks; was the Linux method how-to ever created for this?

Almost done, finishing touches I swear. ;)

Yes, Granite finished his part but we held it back when site formatting broke and I lost someone recently preventing me from having time to run through a validation with him, so, I am the holdup.

Should have it out in the next few days.

OOOOOH no, you're not taking the blame for this one big guy. This was my hold up! :o:D

I've been slacking too, just isn't enough time. Vacation last week, now this week I've been relocated for work again. I'm working East of Canton Ohio now. About 3 hours from home. Just literally checked into my hotel room. Smells like stale cigarettes, and MD 20/20. :p

I've got some more work to do myself, I'll be hitting it tonight, hopefully.

PS: @ Naters Good job homie, welcome to the S-off club!! :D

EM, if that wasn't someone moving on from your work, then I'm sorry to hear it.

Neo, The posts #183 and 188 give really good baseline Linux commands. I had never used it before and got it done. My big issue was finding a version of Ubuntu that would work on my really old computers. I settled on 10.04.

Thanks Granite!! It felt good to finally flash the new radio's and firmware.

Howdy all,
Short version...
Going to unlock/root/recovery/s-off/load new ROM on mom's new phone we're getting Saturday. This is assuming a 1.13 base on the phone.

My wife's and I home was burglarized and our Win7 laptop already set up for this project was stolen.

I have an XP desktop so here is my query...
I have an Ubuntu usb stick that booted up fine on the laptop. Can this type of boot be achieved on the XP machine?

I'm assuming that if the correct drivers and .Net framework is installed on the XP machine that Regaw's unlock/rooter/recovery loader will work?

Appreciate the help!
Skid

Totally off topic, but I KNOW there are gifted computer folks here. Can someone provide a link or site that I can use to help de-bloat, de-crapware the new laptop once we get it?

Thanks again

That is a raw deal there, sorry you got robbed. Does your homeowners cover theft?
Get a German Shepard, then dare folks to break in. The dog will have a blast! :D

For the regaw mod rooter you should be fine with the drivers he has linked in his thread. Go under your control panel and select "uninstall a program" then delete anything that says HTC. Then install the new drivers, you'll be good to go.

Ad far as the USB stick, plug that sucker in and try to boot to Ubuntu. If it gives you any issues, we'll troubleshoot from there. :)

Once you'be been successfully booted into Ubuntuu, we'll move on from there. ;)

Granite,
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, our homeowners policy covers the TV's, cameras, laptop, and other items stolen. We're only covered for 2500.00 for jewelry. There are some things that simply can't be replaced. We appreciate your sentiment.

I've installed the .NET 4 framework as well as the HTC drivers. I'll double check the add/remove programs to make sure any other HTC item doesn't exist.

I did reboot the XP machine after each install. After this post I'm going to try booting into Ubuntu and see if that works.

Just a heads up for anyone interested. Regaw has updated his rooter to cover the 1.22 base. I'm still hoping we get mom a phone with 1.13. May even check it out at the store.

I'll let you know how the Ubuntu boot goes on this old machine.
Thanks again for your time and help.

Bummer
Can you point me to a place where I create an XP bootable stick? I don't think this Windows 7 bootable will work.
Thank you

Sometimes it can be a bit tricky to get the USB to boot with older machines apparently. Take a look here:
Try Ubuntu before you install | Ubuntu

If you have too much trouble try a Live CD. There is an option on a live CD there is a boot manager you can installl to help with booting into Ubuntu.

Try thyese out and if you have any further difficulty, please post back what you've tried so far and we'll troublshoot from there. :)

Alrighty,
I'm up and running with an Ubuntu usb drive working properly on the XP machine.

At this point I'm most concerned with the RegawMOD Rooter, since it has been updated.

If it isn't any trouble, could someone post the command to unzip/extract the LazyPanda file?
I know it is something rather peculiar, but can't remember anything other than gar or tar. lol

Thank you
Skid

Here you go -

Not sure how much Linux you know.

After download, you'll want to open a terminal window, and we'll use the tab key to complete some commands.

Get into the downloads area -

cd $HOME/Down(tab key)

Next, make sure that FeedPanda-RELEASE-Jewel-Linux.tar.gz is there -

ls -lFa

Next, comfirm that you have a good download -

md5sum Feed*gz

Confirm to - 0125966552a70f5b648b17c8949ef338

Next, if that's the only file there, you need to unzip and unarchive it -

tar zxf Feed(tab key)

Confirm you have a file called FeedPanda -

ls -lFa

Now - go munch some bambo!!!

sudo ./FeedPanda

Make sure to get in that ./ because it means: don't search for it, it's right here.

Hope that helps. :)

After this is complete, we're going to have you -

Update your bootloader to LazyPanda 1.12.2222

Install / update TWRP.

Gentlemen,
Thank you very much!
EM, that is quite possibly the absolute BEST post for people with limited, read: no Linux experience. I wish I could thank that post a bunch more times.

Sincere thanks.

I'll let you guys know how it goes sometime tomorrow afternoon/night.

Just wanted to throw out a huge thanks to the kind people here at AF. Special thanks to EarlyMon & Granite1 for basically holding my hand through the process the past few days.

Working without the laptop was a huge PITA. End result though is mom went home this afternoon with a shiny new LTEvo running MeanROM 2.9 and already has a backup in tow.

Sincere thanks,
Skid
