Just swing by the root section here...,xda is a flame war all the time now......and im sure we can help you out just fine here.
It really is sad what xda deteriorated into :(:(. In Sept I was intimidated of that place and marveled at the knowledge base there compared to my greeness. Now its a nomad zone, I even took the xda app off my LP+ dock since I never use it anymore. IRC has become my home away from AF for all matters regarding SF, in fact truth be told Im probably there more than here thesedays :o though Im trying to keep it 50-50 :)

Hello Guys,

I recently purchased Samsung Galaxy GT I9000 with Android 2.1. The performance was excellent. Later I updated to Android 2.2 through Samsung Kies (the froyo update from official samsung channel).

But after the update the performance of the device has taken a hit. The device is slow for most of the actions.

Any clues? Do you think I need to format and re-install Android 2.2 from scratch?

Regards,
Madhu Samuel

well we do have a slightly different phone from you and you might do well to find your proper forum. we also dont have froyo for us so we cannot tell you from experience. but many suggest on SGS class phones froyo could actually be more laggy than eclair if its not dialed in right

yup, many have stated that 2.2 is worse than 2.1 :o

I heard the 2.2 Beta was kinda meh but the official release was pretty good, am I wrong?

And boo for XDA being crappy, yet another forum I joined needlessly! I do want to root my phone but I cring thinking of the time it will take to learn yet another skill/hobby like rooting...I need a Matrix-esque data download to my brain.

BTW, I visited the "what's your homescreen" thread there, holy cow, some of those are freaking incredible, including Kaessa's (who happened to be near the end of the thread).

half of what you read people say about stuff is just placebo effect on performance....most people who really know what they are talking about confirm that froyo is either a lateral move performance wise or potentially worse despite what benchmarks may say

i think the advantages that froyo brings still make it worth having

My buddy had the beta on his Epic and said it felt slower but thought it would be better with the official release.

I thought that typically Froyo was (on most phones) alot faster than Eclair?

Maybe Samsung is pushing this out with great haste in an effort to get us a slick new install of Gingerbread on it's release day!!!!!

Or not...

OK so I know religion and politics are always dangerous issues in public forums. So let me just qualify this post by saying Im not trying to impose anything on anyone. But my mom emailed this video below and I found it incredibly moving. So you if are part of the faith tradition that celebrates Christmas beyond Santa you might really enjoy this. If not, you dont have to click the video.

You can get free twitter wrapping paper personalized with your tweets. I posted a bunch of Christmas tweets to twitter before I did this so they show up on the wrappingpaper.

Hope this is allowed, just wanted to spread the holiday spirit of giving :)

Kaessa has been MIA
I know she was borderline ill awhile back hope all is well with her:(

BTW while most of you were sleeping those of us on irc enjoyed speculating why the entire nationwide 3g verizon network was down for 3-4 hours from 2-530am Eastern time. Its back now but this was everyone in every state complete nada on 3g data

Could this have had anything to do with my phone being mysteriously powered off overnight? I plugged it in and went to sleep. When I woke up it was off and would not power on. I figured the cord was unplugged and it had died. Anyway, went to work, swapped batteries and put the dead one in the charger. The phone powered on normally. The charging status light on the charger went green immediately, so I swapped that battery back in out of curiosity and THEN it powered up. Odd behavior.
