Oh im back to normal, just need to adjust a few settings and im all ready to rock. Did I ever mention how much I LOVE ADW EX. Damn its AMAZING. Anywho, again what is the easiest way to simply install a new look or theme to my phone? Essentially all I have is a rooted clockworked phone. What is this AOSP and DJ05 and what not that everyone talks about? At this point Im VERY happy with the speed and everything, I just want to now de-bing/de-bloat my phone and put a clean looking visual flair on top ala Sense or the Droid X OS's
I'd avoid AOSP for now and stick with DJ05 themes but wait are you on DJ05 or DL09 because themes arent interchangeable between the two. Most in the SF section are DJ05 though there is a patch at xda allowing you to run one on the other. Also did you do a rom yet. Anything superclean will not only de-bloat and de-odex you but also remove some other apps many consider junk, but theres a chance you might miss something

I have no idea what the hell DJ05/09/AOSP even is...is it simply a an update or something I need to download? If im unsure what the those are, is there a way I can check to see? Also what does Odex stand for? Sorry for the dumb questions. I just want to make sure I dont mess up again

Everything is right back where it is now though. All apps reinstalled and everything is recovered. It was surprisingly easy...although I want to avoid it again. ha ha

red try settings>about phone and see what you baseband and build number are. Im out for the night so darn tired but I'll check on you manana if you're gtg

Hmmm...Actually using the rom finder on Rom Manager...Ive definatly warmed up to this sense-esque theme. Now if only I could get the dock (without launcher pro...like the offial sense one) and live wallpaper, I would be in total heaven.

Ok...what does that mean? ha ha All I want is no bing and white menus/notification bar...

basically aosp is android without the carrier skins (ie sense, touchwiz, blur) its fast, light, but its a work in progress for our phone atm...and honestly many dont like loosing their samsung apps

if you are on dj05 there are a wealth of themes..if you are on dl09 you can apply the dl09 theme fix to use dj05 themes :)

Hmmmm How do I go about getting this DJ05 fix and will it wipe my phone like the last time? What are the main differences between the two? Are these considered ROMs? Im still trying to get the whole termonology down and making sure I have things correctly working. Also, am I able to De-root back down to the default settings so verizon is happy if something goes wrong? I did not make a back up for the phone itself before I rooted but I also have not changed any of the internal phone settings (minus the typical root, I did not remove or change anything other than the theme). I have obviously messed with the SD card, but I dont plan to mess with any of the on-board stuff. I would like to de-bing/bloat my phone, but im scared I will brick it and not able to recover my original phone.

Right now im very happy with the overall feel of the phone. Like I said, im running a special theme, I have the free wifi tether (AWESOME!!!!) and Im running ADW EX which is wiked fast. Now maybe im missing out on a bunch of cool stuff, but the less I mess with it, the safer I feel. Again, all I really care about is changing around the themes and possibly installing another OS on there if thats possible (Sense or droid's version of motoblur... *Drools*). Again if there is certain things Im definatly missing out on by rooting, lemme know...and in typical english, non-confusing computery terms :P Thanks again guys, this has actually been really fun.

@ redraptor I think you should head here

Fascinate - All Things Root - Android Forums

I have read through your posts and see that nit and saps have been helping you out quiet a bit and they are great ppl to get help from, but if you look around in apk things root you may find a lot of useful info and other people that are glad to help. This way you wouldn't have to wait for one of them to pop in here. I mean I think its totally fine that you post it in here just trying to open up your possibilities for help. :D

I just have a simple tech question. I uninstalled the gingerbread keyboard for 2.1. Why is there no microphone button and how do I get 1 to be there?

to add something to an apk...you would have to decompile it, edit the xml or in the case of remapping something its a difficult edit unless you know what your doing

So I wonder y the froyo version has a microphone but eclairs doesn't? This feature should work with eclair. I use the microphone a lot and don't want to switch keyboards all the time. Gingerbread is an awesome keyboard...just was surprised to find no mic

Ok once again trying to rock the sense look and finally getting it down. My only problem is that I would like to use the "add" option (The one in the menu button while on the home screen) and make it into a short cut in ADW EX but im unsure how to do this. Any ideas guys?

If this is what you are looking for, Launcher Pro makes it really easy to do. The image below was created on my Droid1 back in August. I not a huge fan of the Sense dock though so I have not tried to "recreate" that look since moving to ADW EX but I could play around with it and see if I can get the same effect.

Oh yes. Ive actually used LP+ as well as all the different docks, but honestly, It just doesnt compare to ADW EX in my honest opinion. Ive just adapted to ADW a bit better. Plus I like the fact that when I press on the various "buttons" it gave me a visual feedback which LP and its docks do not do. Now I also use a similar theme to the one I used above, but it seperates the buttons. It also uses all 5 dock icons but I would prefer to stick with the 3 that sense provides (Even if it technically is 5)...does that make ANY sense(lol) at all?

I want something similar to that dock you linked with the "3" buttons in ADW.

This is my other dock I mentioned. I would use this one more if it had a darker black theme with the "android green" for its visual feedback when touching the correct button. The only other problem I run into is the grey backrounds on each icon. In stock ADW I could remove them but in EX Im unsure how to do that.

Yeah, you're making sense but I'm at a loss with ADW EX. I didn't even know they already had themes and such out for it (I just don't get into that much). I may just start playing around and see what's possible...I like projects LOL.

yeah ive always been a lpp fan and while im eagerly awaiting Fede's big rewrite of it from the ground up (its supposedly due this month, but we ll see) ive moved onto adw ex...i think its a great mix between the functionality and customizations of lpp and the speed of leaner lauchers like zeam....i personally dont think adw themes are all that great, but as a launcher in general, at the moment at least, its #1 in my book :)
